when you try and extract a bolt, place a washer over the hole then a nut. Weld the inside of the nut to the broken stud until its all bright red. let it cool, then use what ever u like to turn it out.

  • @Mavstang73

May I suggest you use your dial bore gauge indictor for oil clearance. You can use the micrometer and bore gauge to measure and make quick work of the build. No more feeler gauges.
You lock the micrometer to the diameter of the journal you're working on then place it in a vice. Zero the bore gauge in the micrometer and then measure the difference with the bore gauge in the journal or rod(bearings installed of course). That number is your current oil clearance. Play with bearing shells to get your desired clearance. Using this method you'll get more accurate results than those locking feeling bore gauges.

I think i speak for everyone watching when i say we appreciate your honesty in the work you do. You could just slap it together and not tell us anything happened with oil rings etc. Thats what makes your channel stand out. Watching you learn as you go, is inspiring to the rest of us

I had to file my oil scraper rings on all 4 for my Manley pistons for my 1g DSM too. Manley does actually have a minimum gap for them listed on somewhere on their site or a spec sheet somewhere.

If you wanna remove a broken bolt put a washer over ist then a nut and weld the inside of the nut so you have a lot of room to fill with weld you won’t damage the block and the metal gets heated aswell this method never let me down

I've just watched the MCM boys from Australia start building there EZ30 engine in New Zealand, to then ship the crate back to Australia and put it in a 'current' STI swapped Subaru Levorg station wagon. Granted that car has had the complete driveline and whatever you can swap from the sti onto it. Now the man Devin is building his engine! So many engine builds happening and its awesome to see.
