- Searching a Bank Bag of Pennies - Penny Hunt and Fill #113
This is part 113 of the series (Boxes 209-210) and I do plan on updating it from each penny box I hunt from this point forward until the penny coin collection is nearly completed! I will say in advance that once we get to a point where it is nearly impossible to add any more wheat cents to the album, we will then halt the series and try to fill the rest of the slots with existing finds or coins in my duplicates collection.

Just in case anyone cares; it was pretty good, I found 14 poor date Wheaties, but I found a good amount of “old” Canadians, which is always nice. I found a couple Canadian king George small cent pieces which I love finding

Watched the last bank bag video and ran to my bank this morning and bought one myself ended up with 15 wheat Pennies most from the 50s and a dime!
I sure wish I could get clean pennies like yourself Rob. Been doing pennies for 5 years and better now. Another of the bags n boxes I have been getting lately are really dirty and nasty. Like your show...hoping my pennies here in Michigan clean up.

I thought when I saw the video length was only 12 and a half minutes long, that it wouldn't be a good bag - but dang! A bunch of wheaties, a 1910, a 1935 and a 1998 wide-AM! Not too shabby! Another great video and thanks for the shout-outs!
These bag hunts are cool! It's good seeing some very old cents per hunt and increases the chance of finding some of those hard to find early cents 🔎

Good hunt, I will be picking up a bag of pennies and quarters this week. I wish I would have known about errors and varieties when I first started getting rolls. No telling how many I returned that had something going on with them. I first started pulling wheaties, then started hoarding copper also, wasn't until later that I started looking at every coin.
"Because it's a bank-sealed bag I do need to tear the top of it off..." You mean you have to open the bag to get to the pennies?? Classic Rob over-explaining. I'm dying!! ROFLMAO!!

I recently found a 1955 DDO FS-102 (The far less valuable variety) which I had graded by ANACS. If it would have been the FS-101, it would have gone to PGCS.

I've been feeding my watley scale pennies for years,, no wheat pennies but thought by now it would be over flowing... When I do empty it ,, the pennies will go in their own year cup

Nice '98 AM find! Not as good as spread as the last one, but fun. I especially liked the "Panamanian" coin. The obverse bust of the warrior is beautiful!

I haven't asked in a while, but the last time I tried to get bags the bank told me they wouldn't be able to sell them to me anymore.

Thank you for your videos, we enjoy them all! What year range are you keeping for the copper jar? I read conflicting statements online about which pennies are copper. Is it simply everything before 1983?
Some 1982’s are both zinc and copper. Zinc ones weigh 2.5g and copper ones weigh 3.1g. I can just ping them on the desk though and know the difference. I keep all 1982 coppers and everything from 1981 and earlier. I also look out for any 1983’s that may have been struck mistakenly on a copper planchet. Some have been found.

Wow, that was a nice 1998 wide AM. I’ve found a few of those but none were MS condition. I’ve been hoping to find a good one like that. Still never found a 1999 either. They’re tough…
Yeah, thpse 1999 Wide AMs are hard to find (for me for sure).
I have a question. I box hunt and I take them back to the bank. Yes I do miss one once in awhile. But they don't expect wheat pennies. Bank bags. Just wondering how and why.

I believe that he said that he has saved many rolls of each already for cents from that year.
I stopped saving them since I have so many. I do check the 09 Formative Year Phillies for the many different extra finger varieties though.

The coins you are searching are cents not Pennies they clearly say one cent calling them a penny is wrong that is a British coin not American
LOL - I know this. I referred to them multiple times in the video as wheat cents BUT a large chuck of Americans still call them pennies and even the banks call them and label the boxes as pennies so it's really not a big deal (to most).
