I believe that this is one of the only videos that shows that you can drill out the door to get to the three bolts that hold the motor to the actuator and that you don’t have to pull out the whole actuator to replace the motor. I am 78 years old, not a mechanic and was able to do this Repair.. thank you for the video.
@@Lakeman-fb6vl in all honesty, some people don't like drilling holes. However, sometimes you have to do what you have to do, if it's not somewhere that you can't see and won't cause serious problems, then you might just have to. I'm glad that this video helped you out. Also, sometimes engineers don't think things through.
Thank you for the video!!! You gave me the confidence and guidance to remove the motor, disassemble it, and found a seized shaft. Used padded pliers to unsieze the shaft and lubed it with WD. Spun like crazy, nice and smooth. Totally back in business thanks to your video.
V35James I'm glad that we were able to help you out. It's a good thing that it was able to be put back in service, in our case however the motor was barely functional and was about to burn up. Nothing could put it back in working order so we had to buy a new one.
Super great video. It always seems that throwing new parts at the problem is the only answer. I got a 2000 Expedition with a driver side window motor that wont go down and this looks to be the cure. Thank you.
Juicey Bananas you're welcome, I hope that this helped. Sometimes you have to use new parts to fix the problem especially if their modern vehicles as most of not all of it is meant to be replaced once it goes bad. If it was an 80's vehicle for example with the rolling style window, that'll last forever as long as you service it once every 20 years or so.
Did my 99 F-150 today, bought a new motor of Ebay for $29. Only problem was Ford provided 2 dimples, had to estimate the 3rd hole by using the new motor as a template. Also the new one was wired backwards so I spliced and switched the wires. Overall a pretty easy fix.
Trent Allman I'm glad to hear that you've got you're window motor replaced. It stinks to hear that it was wired backwards. Was it the driver side window like shown in the video, or a different one?
@@nightfall2681 passenger side, and I ordered front right. But in reality everything thing on car should be referenced by driver side/passenger side. It works, and it took at most 5 minutes to swap the wires. Thanks for the video, I don't do anything without TH-cam.
mikecustenborder3991 when you say the new motor continuously runs, I'm assuming you mean it's always moving the window. At least that's what it sounds like. If that's the case, it may be a good idea to replace it as having a window always on the move is an inconvenience. You may be able to fix it, however there could be many possible factors that are leading to the issue, so it would probably be best to replace it with a different one. Now let's say if the window is down and the motor is trying to put it down, or if the window is up and the motor is trying to put the window up, it'll be more of a reason to replace it as it'll eventually burn up the motor in the case scenario, if it doesn't burn up it may wear the gears.
@@nightfall2681 the motor is not lowering the window. Thr new motor is spinning. We disconnected it. Could it be a bad switch? The problem, is the drivers side master switch. The other 3 work.
@@mikecustenborder3991 it's possible that a gear could be stripped or even worn. Normally if that happens it'll spin, but not move the window. It could possibly be the switch as well, it could be a multitude of scenarios however it seems as the internals may be compromised.
@@kirkbooker3347the wires for the volt meter weren't clipped anywhere, they were probed inside the window motor wires. They were the needle probe ones.
Adam Kinzie when I asked are you able to gently pry it upwards, I meant just slide it up or in over words just pick it up. If window falls all you have to do is pick it up, sometimes you may have to hold it in place.
Mantenimiento Ahumada are you saying excellent in terms of a step by step tutorial, or are you saying excellent as it helped you replace a window motor?
Maxx Hernandez after you loosen everything and and carefully remove it all, you reach in there and slowly pull it out with your hand, don't pull fast or hard as you may damage or even disconnect the wires. For some unknown reason my camera wasn't recording that scene, even though I hit the record button. Anyway, once you carefully pull the motor out you want the wires to remain connected and don't pull too tight.
