      Well, we just let the trucks through. There wasn't any sleeping. Maybe once they got to where they were drilling the oil. I don't know. It never came up.

      might have. There were horses, saw them in the road once but they didn't come near our RV so I just saw them down the road.

    The Security Companies charge the oil company $45 per hour ($1000 day), but pay the guards $8 per hour ($200 day), We insist on $18 per hour ($400 day) with $1 per mile from jobsite to jobsite.

      I did not know that. Thank you for sharing the info.

      Liar. You can insist all you want, you’re not getting $400.00/day gate guarding anywhere. You want $400/day, find work elsewhere, with skills.

      I work as a wire guard for down power lines or power work. It pays 30/hr 12/hr car reimbursement. Breaks down to 534/day-$862 day. Hotel and per diem paid for. Not steady work but I try get hired out 6-10 days a month.

      Might add fuel and travel time is paid the same way. And pay is OT after 10 hrs and you work 12 or 16 hr shifts.

    Just seeing this for the first time and I’m wondering what workamping job you had at the Outer Banks? We’ve camped at the KOA in Rodanthe in the past. Do you think gate guarding is worth it?

      Robert, we worked at Camp Hatteras in Rodanthe, very close to the KOA. I worked at the front desk and my husband was a gate guard/security for the summer 2022 season there. As for gate guarding, it was fun for the month that we did it, I enjoyed the experience and it gave us some quick money before we headed to Cody, WY for our workamp jobs last summer 2023. In July 2023, I had a stroke so the 24 hr a day couples gate guarding experience is off the list for me now. I'm getting around with a walker and that would be too much up and down the RV steps for me, but I am glad to have had the experience.

    How did you get that job

    • @DebraParmleyBeautifulDay
      @DebraParmleyBeautifulDay  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most of our workamping jobs we got through Workamper.com and for guard gate jobs there are other places to find those. I'm just not sure which ones. You must obtain a Texas Security guard license to work at these jobs in Texas. So I would start with getting that license first.
