    The Rotkee VS Vibration Sensor can be screwed on to fuel pipes to check for diesel injector mechanical operation. In this video we connect the Rotkee vibration sensor to the PicoScope 4425A oscilloscope and put it to the test. We look at a good fuel system then install some faults; removing injector 1 and 4 to see how it performs.

    Thanks again, Darren for sharing a great video.
    I ordered one, but have to wait for Rotkee to resend me the nescessory products with an email informed. They responded my mail last Tuesday and said they would deal soon with my issue they first met.

      Thanks! Yeah it’s really cool stuff. Not really - it’s actually ultrasonic so it’s limited. But I reckon there might be other things we can do with it. Need to get creative 😁

    • @MechanicMindset
      @MechanicMindset  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, I don’t think so. On the diesel we usually disable injection so the pulses wouldn’t be seen during cranking

    Hi great video could you use this to disgnoise noisey wheel bearing or engine gearbox noises ?

    • @MechanicMindset
      @MechanicMindset  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure, I understand this is an ultrasonic sensor, so might be too sensitive, or not effective. Be better getting some cheap piezo elements and glueing them to croc clips. Or get chassis ears; i love that tool for noises

    • @danielgreenbaum8875
      @danielgreenbaum8875 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah looked at chassis ears but wireless ones are expensive which make ones do you have?

    Not really a vibration sensor if it doesn't pic up vibration from plastic hoses as well but more like a knocking sensor/microphone that feels the knock/ping in the fuel pressure spike.
    More like a digital stethoscope for the oscilloscope.
    Could possible be used to find and time to check engine noise also.
    Never the less i see this as a useful tool that i want 😁

    • @MechanicMindset
      @MechanicMindset  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Solid plastic it works. I tried on rubber and it wasn’t great (nothing solid to couple to).
      Vibration is just what they call it but yes I see what you’re saying 👍
      Timing to noises sounds like a great use for this sensor! Cheers

  • @NextLevelAutoDiagnostics
    @NextLevelAutoDiagnostics ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't work on diesels so it may serve a purpose there....however on a regular gasoline ice engine, this seems gimmicky especially when you're already getting a voltage and current ramp which would provide a more definitive answer compared to the noise this provides.

    • @MechanicMindset
      @MechanicMindset  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Works well on GDI where you don’t get such a definitive pintle hump or kink on current ramp 👍

      @@MechanicMindset Thanks for the reply, Darren. All they have to do is add 3.5% to their price to cover the difference and both parties have a little more comfort. Other than that I have nothing against them unless they are using that practice to avoid the tax man (which I totally understand, just wish it didn't have to be that way...)
