My dog is a rescue dog, and she’s been attacked by other dogs in the past,so she HATES when other dogs are being walked near our house. I take her out to potty, and someone was walking their dog, and approached our fence like an idiot, it began snapping and snarling at my dog through the fence. Both dogs were barking through the fence, but he would NOT pull his dog back, and my dog’s nose got cut by the fence when one of them bumped it. People are such idiots! If your dog was on a leash during a walk, and another dog is near, don’t just LET them snap at each other! Pull your dog back! Why are people so stupid?! This is why I can’t take her for walks anymore. People just let their own dogs do whatever the hell they want.
Easier said than done. My biggest thing is keeping my dog from getting in the red Zone. My one dog is so quick to get in the red my other dog is a little more laid back but the 2 together forget about it.
My neighbors dogs are relentless. I turn on the light in my bathroom, they bark. I rollover in bed, they bark. It sucks. The neighbor is useless at stopping this crap. My dog goes out to use the bathroom and those dogs freak out.
fence aggression has become a problem in my home. I have 2 dogs who fight with our neighbors dog at the fence. My neighbor does not care to do anything about it so i built a wooden fence from my side and now my dogs stare through the tiny cracks between the wood. My problem is that as soon as one of my dogs sees movement he scratches and barks at the fence and they begin to fight for position. I use to get between them and the fence and they would run back and forth, I paid a trainer $500 for private lessons and he gave great tips for calming them down but nothing on stopping the behavior from happening in the first place. Recently, my dog fought each other for position at the fence right next to me and I reached to grab ones collar to pull him back when he turned and bit me in the mouth sending me to urgent care for stitches. I dont know what else to do, just the sound of our neighbors dog barking sets them both immediately from 0 to 100 and they do not listen. I recently started looking into E-collars as my last resort.
You should look into training your dogs in areas of lower intensity before letting them get into such an environment. Letting them out in the yard free, to be by that fence with the other dog, is setting them up for failure. This may work for you, it worked for me in a similar situation. Find a command your dog does the best, ie: my dog lays down no matter what, mid fetch he will lay down. I noticed a while back he liked to lay down more than anything when it came to training, if he got frustrated when training and didnt know what to do he would always lay down to try and get a treat. So I used that as his "main trick." It takes a long time and many many sessions, but find that command that he does the best right now and cement it in their brain in less stressful environments, and work your way up to the fence with the dog. Maybe in your house, outside on the porch, in the front yard, or maybe even at a park. My dog barks viciously at the neighbors when they come home, but if I go out there and call him or tell him to lay down, he will stop on a dime. He also seems to be barking less and less at them, knock on wood he gets even better than he is now over time. It takes time and patience. I am no professional dog trainer, but ive been pretty vigorously training my german shepherd cur mix for 2 years or so. Larry Krohn has many many good videos and a slightly different way of training than several other trainers. His methods seem to work well; I advise looking into him even before trying my method.
Nene Naturally my Rottweiler does exactly what he said. I was hoping to find ideas how to keep him away from the fence next to my neighbors. I keep mine in the back yard, he gets wild when he sees dogs pass by the house.
Daniel Zamora This is 100% our issue right now. The dog next door is quiet and the neighbors are great. My dogs are just jack holes. Have yo come up with any solutions? The neighbors even have their dog blocked from the fence but mine still can see him. We thought maybe a canvas on the fence...
I have my dog in the back yard and he can sense when dogs are passing by in the front yard and he barks and runs from one side of the house to the next. He barks at the neighbors mailman everyone unfortunately I will be buying a chain link kennel 6x10x6 which is enough room for him to move around I just hate being a nuisance to my neighbors
My dog will not stop barking at the dog next door, and every time he sees someone he continues to bark excessively and won't come when I call him. He thinks its play and runs around like we are playing chase. He is a very placid dog and very friendly, but he continues to bark outside more and more often and I am worried that neighbors are getting frustrated. My backyard is mostly bush as well, its very large so its hard for me to grab my dog physically and bring him inside. Any ideas! please help My parents are really getting on me about it all. Thank you
currently living this situation now :/ my dog is 3 and just now started doing this after about a year of my neighbors dog doing it to him. So annoyed he picked this up & is EVEN worse than the neighbors dog. Did you find anything to help?!
Tell my neighbours. At 6 in the morning they wake up the whole neighbourhood and don’t say anything about it, they just let him bark. But he barks, just to bark, he does not like to be alone in the backyard. Driving us nuts.
What do you do when you don't have dogs, but your neighbors' dogs are doing this, along with charging the fence, attempting to attack over and through the fence, but the neighbors don't believe this is happening and ignore requests for training?
Record record record call police all police call police File at the magistrate take your videos. Most people just worry about their neighbors gettin mad. I don't They don't care about me. I've done it. It works
My Jack Russell runs up and down the fence growling and barking when he hears the neighbours in the garden. The neighbours then squirt the dog with the hose. It's quite tense now and we are not sure how to stop the dog? Thoughts?
I am on the other side of this, my neighbors don't try to stop the barking and chasing. Just letting the neighbors know you are trying might be a start. I have begun tossing small treats to my neighbors biggest dog and it seems to help a little. Maybe buy a bag of high level treats and give it to the neighbor to toss to your dog when they are out. Tell them the name of your dog and maybe they can make friends with it. Good luck!
Ha! My sh*tty neighbors would never put in this much effort. It seems to require (a) work, and (b) giving a d*mn. I just paid $50 for a privacy screen to attach to my wooden fence. Let's see how that works out.
my beautiful dog Delilah does not bark at people at the fence but the neighbor's dog. So how can I get her to turn away if the other dog calls her over to the fence?
We have 4 dogs, a PomChi, Havanese/Poodle mix, Chihuahua and a Teacup Yorkie. In other words, 3 of the 4 are natural barkers! My problem is that they back EVERY time my husband or step son walk into the room, even if they just walked out of it 2 minutes ago! They also bark like crazy when someone is at the door and I have tried all of the things I’ve seen Cesar Milan teach on his show and they don’t work with them I’ve tried bark collars (I only use the vibrate on it) and squirt guns too. But once one of them barks, the rest start up and they all go into a frenzy. They will bark at me too when I come home and it’s because they hear someone coming in but once they see it’s me they stop. How do I get them to stop the barking all day long as it drives us crazy!
So put your dog on a leash? That's the solution? 🤣 That's more annoying than listening to barking. I don't just go outside to take the dog out and the dog doesn't only go outside when it's leash time.... that's why we have a fence. 🤦🏼♂️

This was not particularly helpful. Sounds like if you can’t get to your dog in time, you are out of luck after they escalate. I am experiencing this and it is very frustrating and annoying.
Dogs have to be interrupted in the moment, they don't learn any other way. So, a good way to practice this is to setup a scenario where you CAN be there with your dog on a liberty line and have someone come up to the fence so you can stop them before they get too far, interrupt the behavior and then practice a little repetition. You'll never be able to correct this behavior just trying to do it as it occurs. It will require repetition. Hope that helps.
Honestly. My family had decided to get a dog and I agreed with them since they wanted a guard dog. Been almost 2 years since we got the first one and we got a second puppy who is now 7 months. My family just always let them bark and one day the barking just got to me and I took action. I managed to get them to listen to recall when they bark so I can keep them quiet and calm them down. I even taught my sister this but she barely does a thing. The other day I was in the shower and these two started going on wildly and I couldn't do anything about it and no one did anything about it so I had to rush my shower time and rush to put clothes on to go keep them quiet. Worse thing is we live in a sort of a hill so their bark echo's which makes it worse and my family doesn't give two sh*ts about it
not a good tip. Dogs are guardians and one of their "job" is to make you aware of danger. Doesn't matter if it a friend or foe. You need to know that there is someone. We are living in a world of cruel people that can do poison your dog, enter your property, steal from you. This is one of the traits that dogs can carry and they would be happy to do the "job". This is in their nature.
