    Look I get these things are high end, but all vehicles in general are absurdly expensive. Full disclosure is that I’m taking home 124k this year after the government is done with its share. I think that’s good pay, but if at that salary range a trucks price tag makes me pucker, then there’s something seriously wrong with auto manufacturing priorities.

      I agree with you wholeheartedly. I made a similar statement and was immediately attacked. Trucks were once the affordable option, now we'd be better off buying a foreign luxury sedan. thanks for staying up to date on all the new EV developments. i used to be a die hard ICE enthusiast but as soon as i drove an electric car, i was smitten. they're just better. time for all of us to admit it and move on. charging infrastructure is happening. 400 miles is awesome already. they just need to get cheaper, and they will. its hard to read a lot of these comments hating on EVs, when i myself used to be skeptical. im a real truck guy, i use my current ICE silverado to pull stumps, i max out the payload regularly. i abuse my truck. and I'm ready for an electric version. the torque is just soooooo nice to have. i don't care if i can only go 150 miles towing. the other benefits of EVs are just worth it, in my opinion. we just need chargers posted along major routes and i'll be good. we do absolutely need pull through chargers though. no more parking spot chargers, that's really dumb.

      I'd also like to see the kwh costs of public chargers drop considerably along with more chargers in the smaller towns, because if I was to travel it would be on the back roads where I'd get optimum mileage range. Casey's general store would be a good starting place for those new chargers.

    • @pstoneking3418
      @pstoneking3418 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Steven Seagull The current equivalent fuel tank of a lightning is around 4 gallons of gasoline. Put just 4 gallons of gasoline in your tank and see how well your ICE vehicle does compared to the lightning. If the lightning had the same equivalent capacity of a 36 gallon tank, the battery would be 9 times bigger, 9 times heavier, would go 9 times farther than the current battery.

      It will be the pressure up upgrade the grids work wide..
      But we really need to renovate recycling culture to include vehicles rather than crushing them..
      Also to have EVs that are not fully self controlling. Many people want to have vehicles that no other entity can control remotely..
      I like the advancements in drop in crate motor/battery pack units that take the place of standard v8 and v6 engines and allow for full electrification of any vehicle still on the road. The best thing for the environment is to keep all the cars already out there, on the road, but using electricity.
      This will also push our generation technologies to hopefully stop involving the direct consumption of fossil fuels

    A lot of vehicle manufacturers are switching to lower headlights because of the IIHS testing of headlight capability. Higher headlights generate more potential for glare to other drivers. Positioning the headlights lower allows for more powerful lights with better aim and less glare for other drivers to improve IIHS scores.

    Think the large 24 inch wheels were made necessary by a really thick floor that has to hold two 106 kWh batteries stacked on top of each other. The higher HP numbers in the GMC has to be software controlled as both the Silverado and GMC trucks use the same Ultium motors. Love the flexibility of the mid gate but if your going on a long trip I think a camper shell or bed cover will be necessary to keep the cabin warm and quiet. In regards to air suspension, wouldn’t it reduce suspension travel when lifted or lowered?

    I'm curious about tire wear. For example you go buy new 50K mile tires at your local tire dealer.
    Are those tires now going to be worn out by 20-30K or possibly less because of the extra weight? I would guess that with the softer rubber of a off road/AT tire they wouldn't last very many miles so you could be stuck using a all season tires.

    • @bahamatodd
      @bahamatodd ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well with the extra weight you'll be buying higher load rated tires anyway.

    • @herbwheeler4470
      @herbwheeler4470 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bahamatodd Well that means no or very limited off road/all terrain tires. It's a matter softer rubber compound not weight rating.
      I put 10ply Cooper discoverer STT' pro's on my Colorado and got darn close to 62K miles on them. My friend put them on his silverado and and wore them almost bald at about 40K.
      Nothing to do with weight rating and everything to do with the rubber compound.

    I think you will see the same problems as the Hummer EV had when it was released. Water leaking into the batteries. Software problems, and the same distance problems when towing. And you get all these problems for a mere $107,000 plus tax and etc. So, $110,000 out the door. Yeah, that's saving $ over a gas engine.

    I don't totally agree with an EV truck because of the range while towing. Not to mention how long does it take to fully charge up? This is why don't really care for EV towing trucks. I get more range with my diesel. That all aside I'm still not sold on EVs.
    the question also that I have is does it come with an extended bed? If it does is there going to be more battery capacity with the long bed. Also I am in the process of joining up with a company called ATC, they convert pickup trucks to a wheelchair friendly. Traditionally they chop into the floor to make more room for a wheelchair. Do you know how that will work with the batteries in the way? Do you know if you can increase your towable wait if you want to?

Interior is more related to the hummer then Sierra... We don't get panoramic moonroof with gas version. Also, I preferer horizontal Sierra infotainment in the gas version. This was a GM unique design element which seperates them from competition... Now with this huge lateral screen, seem they copied all others...
