I might be wrong, but here's what I think happened at the Fireguard clip: -Fireguards attack the totem outside. They are now in combat with the shaman and noone else and are moving towards him -shaman drops windfury totem, which buffs the shaman, generating aggro on itself -shaman only takes offensive actions against other mobs that are not in the same instance of combat, therefore the mobs only have 1 threat on him by the time they reach the totem -also, nobody heals/buffs the shaman until he gets attacked, before that they did not enter combat with these fireguards at first
14:30 . The best part about hardcore is after you make it past lvl 30ish, all of these types of healers are long gone. The lowest level dungeons are legit the scariest to tank. You get 8th attempt andy and his unaware shaman friend...
In that fireguard clip the shaman drops the totems fairly late in the fight and right before the destroyers come in. Perhaps he left the totem outside which pulls the destroyers and as they were on their way to that totem, the shaman re-summons the totem in the room which caused the fireguards to reroute to the totems new position. But I am not sure if that wouldn't cause the totem to drop from the threat pool regardless. Or how far they spawn from the entrance for this to be even a real possibility. Either way a really unfortunate situation.
I thought that too, but even if that was the case the healer should've still pulled aggro off the totem by simply healing. Unless the windfury totem generates a lot of threat, which admittedly exceeds my knowledge.
Asmon doesn't know alot of the things he talks about though. WF Totems generate alot of aggro and are often targeted by mobs, just like happened here, shaman most likely left a totem outside
@@superbleifrei5882 did you watch the video? He makes en entire paint file drawing arguing that an outside totem aggroing the Destroyers and then once it's killed going for the WF totem doesnt make logical sense. Why? Cause he has no idea how much aggro a WF totem actually generates
@@lircox His argument has logic. Let's say a totem outside had face aggro, then the elementals would have targeted the shaman next because only the shaman is in combat with them. Unless there is a healing stream totem OR someone else healing/buffing the shaman, then this would put the mobs in combat with additonal targets. The refreshing buff of a WF totem CAN pull aggro but it is VERY unlikely in this case since the shaman he has his own weapon buff which doesn't get overriden by the totem buff The most likely thing that happened here is direct z-axis face aggro from the WF totem. Buggy as fuck.
the uldaman clip happened to me, kinda the same way. Healer died cause of aggro, and you cant hold aggro on boss and both mobs if dps are splitting dmg, as seen in the clip. If dps split focus, threat becomes lower for you, and then when healer has to pump, he suddenly gets the aggro and dies.
This is the exact reason why you let your rage build before dangerous pulls or add spawns, rage management is what makes good tanks in wow classic (mostly talking about dungeons). If you start a fight with zero rage, or you need to save rage for the adds, call for group to wait before 5-10 sec before engaging.

After Fireguards run in and find the group then they become aggroed to the group after killing the totem.
