    these are great when you are welding or expect snakebites.

      Absolutely. I've worn leather spats while welding and they are quite helpful. And while I've not had the pleasure of field testing Spats v. Snakes, I can vouch for their original intent - keeping stones out and helping to keep mud off of my boots/shoes.

    Friend, I really like your video.
    Going a bit off topic, you have no idea of how difficult is to dress like this in Brazil... I looked everywhere for spats but they aren't made anymore. Guess I have to craft them at home, and make them look as good as yours!

    Im gonna try to make my own spats just to use normal shoes and make em look like boots, and also because they really protect the leg

      I always save the uppers from nice knee high boots, or second hand boots and cut them from the sole. Then i tidy up the bottom edges and they make easy gaitors, or spats. I even made a pattern from my favorite pair, but i havent made new ones yet

    Terrific little video. Doesn’t belabor the point, gets right to the information, and looks cool. And I’m really grateful for the classy, fine music. I am a jazz musician myself (drummer) and I’m tired beyond words of horrific music on most TH-cam videos for cooking, fashion, etc. People just take some faceless techno or garbage industrial music and just put it on there. It’s really better not to have any music at all, or to something tasteful like you have.

      Thank you, Greg. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, music can certainly enhance or destroy a video - which is why I am so picky about what I choose for each video. Do you have a band that you currently play with?

    Hello, love your posts. I was wondering if the book shown on Google is a real book, or just a title icon? Please advise where I might purchase the book if it is available.

      my1928 That’s too bad. I really like yours because they are much longer than regular spats. They are sort of like under-trouser gaiters. You wouldn’t know of any other artists who might be able to make me a pair like yours do you?

      niel hassum I would start with your local menswear shops and charity shops. You could also purchase from Etsy and eBay. I purchased mine ( the white pair I am wearing in the video) from Etsy.

      Try looking on Etsy.com and see if you can find an Etsy seller in or near Birmingham that sells spats. And if you’re not oppressed to some international shipping, Fineanddandy.com sells them. fineanddandyshop.com/collections/spats

      @@my1928 Pardon my interruption to a nearly year old comment; but what would be a good equivalent that I could still purchase? Considering that the artist for those spats are no longer in operation; furthermore how would you recommend cleaning spatterdashes, should they get dirty?

    • @my1928
      @my1928  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BaronVonPurp At present, I would recommend purchasing spats from somewhere like here: fineanddandyshop.com/collections/spats or search for some that you like on etsy. They are not as tall as these but a nice alternative. Or, you could search for other spats and artists that make them, on etsy. I am still looking for someone that will make a style similar to these. As for cleaning spats, I would suggest taking them to a dry cleaner.

    I disagree I think spats are terrible. A now unnecessary fabric that protects shoes...as if it was the 1890's and horse poop was all over the city. They add nothing but a strange clasp on shoes. If you wear nice bespoke shoes, what would be the gain?
