I cant get over how sharp your car looks friend. I never imagined a c4 looking so cool when I was a kid and these cars made their first appearance. Yours looks so cool, congrats.....keep it up 👍

love C4s, absolute iconic American sportscar, and a symbol of the 80s. has aged incredibly well, still looks as gorgeous sleek and modern as ever. forward thinking design. it set new standards back then in terms of driving dynamics handling performance leaving contemporary competitors from germany, italy and uk in the dust.
    yours looks very tasteful.
    greets from germany

Take the honeycomb structure out as well.If you would like to understand think if you crushed the honeycomb to the left or right to where it leaves what it is available through the intake as a restriction with no more holes because the honeycomb is sandwiched together. It is there for people that don't change the air filter as a protective measure to prevent large objects from getting into the engine.Though you haven't sandwiched the honeycomb structure together it is the same restriction.Your going to need to program the newer cfm flow because the engine computer is not using the extra air all your doing is creating a lean environment and also bigger injectors to take advantage of the flow. I'm not talking about massive injectors but a better flowing calculation and I would also like to say you would be surprised at the performance top end speed WILL improve. The fuel pressure regulator I think it would be fun to play with.I don't know the top speed for the L98 TPI 350 guess 150 mph 145mph I have only been 110mph 112mph electriconicly limited.Remember power wise you won't notice anything but an increase in top speed mph you will.

Beautiful Vette ,I have always loved the look of the C4 brother. Very nice and Glad to see she's in good hands.
L98 is still a beast in the streets. My 89 Firebird Is still beautiful too , in great shape , turning heads and getting compliments as I know your Vette is too.
Long live the C4 and third gen F bodies!

The airfoil was part of the original design of the throttle body; it was left off in actual production, probably for cost savings. I've seen a chip tuner say it is worth 2-3hp on a dyno. It also improves throttle response. There is a plastic one available that has a perfectly smooth surface, which should be better for airflow than the relatively rough casting of the aluminum version. It does not bolt in; it fits snugly in the throttle body and has a pair of clips that are trapped by the intake tube so it can't come loose.
As for the airbox mod, I am skeptical because the total area of the factory slots FAR exceeds that of the twin throttle plates already. Plus, I think the Callaway Turbo breathed through the same lid. If it was good enough for that car, it is certainly good enough for the standard engine. The factory design helps prevent water from getting to the filter in wet conditions, as well. Water hitting the cover is guided down the face to drain off the bottom by those louvers. Later versions used different designs to provide more protection than this early one, so that's a real issue.
If you use a K&N filter, it's important to clean and re-oil it prior to use. They come drenched in oil from the manufacturer, which restricts air flow and gets sucked into to the intake tube, where it fowls the MAF sensor. The filter element itself is very porous, potentially allowing more dirt to pass through. K&N claims the oil helps trap dirt in the cloth, making it filter air just as well as a paper element. But, if it's oiled-up enough to filter just as well, it's probably just as restrictive, too. K&N claims about 5hp gain, but I've never found any noticeable improvement so I stopped using them many years ago.

Great video....one thought for all mechanics. Use a ratchet to remove and install bolts. The reason is simple, you can break or strip the bolts or assembly. I find that a lot of guys use an impact driver like yours. Old fashion....maybe but hate to repair or replace broken parts.

i added the air foil on my l98 and felt a slight increase. i read someplace to sand and polish it to a super smooth finish and i did that before i installed it. they say about 3 or 4 horse and i think thats about right. i gutted out the rear cat and [ that was a freebee ] and installed magnaflo mufflers [about 100 for both ] . those two mods transformed the car. felt like 30 + hp increase and the sound took the place of my lousy radio. nice and mellow till you hit the gas

I replaced that throttle body piece on my LT1 and you could actually feel the difference it wasn't allot but noticeable do you know if they make one of those air box mods for the LT1 I thought about the cold air intake but its like 350 for it. Something to think about with that tire set up you have my 92 at about 75 mph or a little more feels like it all of a sudden drops about 1/2 inch it seems its something to do with airflow pushing the car down on the road so as not to let air catch up underneath providing better traction at high speeds not sure how your tire set up will effect or be affected by it.

Hope to install a stump puller cam in my LT1 C4. Just not a fan of twisting the motor to 5000rpm to get power. Had a nice L98 in a Formula 350 cammed to rock from 2000 to 4000rpm. Great mileage (20mpg) and crazy street power... 50ft burnouts without power braking... fun fun fun with the 2nd gear chirp sometimes turning into a power slide.

I was thinking this the whole time. "Does cutting the panel to 'allow for more air' actually improve performance? Does that K&N filter improve performance? Does that throttle body insert improve performance?" All of these seem like Amazon gimmick parts or forum fodder.

With all due respect if there isn't any before and after data collection, not even a post installation seat of the pants subjective evaluation how can you say it's worth it. If memory serves me correctly the stock system flows 1237 CFM, at any time the engine only needs about 550 CFM since you have one intake and half an intake valve open at any moment.
Just saying it looks cool, but?
I should mention I have 1990 C4 Z51 6sp and have won an SCCA So. Cal Autocross championship with the car.

Each to his own ,but I want factory stock OEM on my nice lo mile 96. It sticks like glue in the twisties , I don't get lowering it. Mine has three diff settings available stock. Like headers, more probs than its worth to me. I guess if a car is rough or high miles, mods are an improvement. It hurts nice car value a lot of the time. At least it doesn't take an expert to maintain these cars like newer models and they kinda fun to learn about and work on. I consider 95- 96 to be the ones to own, unless you hate LT motors , then stick to a 91. Under rated cars for sure. Thanks for the C4 content.
