I don't doubt it. Derek Medding's miniature work on all those Supermarionation shows fascinated me when I was a little kid. They looked so realistic compared to a lot of the effects from sci-fi made in the 50s and 60s.

Gerry Anderson would approve! Great opening from the show, love the theme. UFO, first live action series from Anderson, evolved from Thunderbirds, and the precursor to Space 1999. The ufo from UFO looks great! Bravo!
Derek Meddings said it was inspired from a vacuum cleaner impeller. And only a real master of Special Effects could make this model spin and fly as seen in the TV show
Great model build,the base should be white with black stripes ,and the top cap was a pale off yellow colour on the studio models.i would put the chrome tape on most surfaces like the show!
I have the rerelease version with the corrected pads, correct number of pads (5) and correct scale Eagles. I built it last year, and it’s mounted in an Ikea picture frame on the living room wall. Works great like that as an unusual art feature.

Space 1999 came out after & I hated it , an old woman & an old bloke as the lead characters!!!! After UFO , with Ed Straker Paul Foster & all those gorgeous purple haired girls. What was Anderson thinking? Even as a 10 year old I knew UFO girls were cute & the space 1999 woman was an old lady in comparison S 1999 was rubbish tho
@Robert Croes at least we have the episodes on utube If UFO was made nowadays I'm sure they would've made at least 4/5 seasons There's so many other things they could've added , more about the aliens more stories involving other characters, a main alien in charge of the others, a more involved back story of the aliens, all I remember is they needed human organs I can't remember if they wanted earth bc there planet was dying or if it was just the body parts they needed. As a kid I had an interceptor but it was green not white with red stripes.. I havnt a clue why . So I painted it white with those lil pots of paint youd get with those airfix kits of tanks planes etc We built. I had a truck with the caterpillar tracks the roof flipped over so a missile could be fired. I lost the missiles and the bomb the interceptor fired within a few days, lol probably Hoovered up by my mom 🙈 👍
