Would have been easier to use PVC and misc adapters, splitters and ends. Much lighter too. Yours is insanely good. I might make a small one for living room ceiling light
Thanks! PVC pipes are actually heavier than the 1/2" ID steel electrical conduit I used. PVC is more flexible, so I might have been able to make a circle instead of a 15 sided shape, but the adapters get pretty expensive. The electrical conduit cost me $3 per 10 foot section.
Im going to try this with 2 very large aluminum satellite dishs welded together. basically make it look like a ufo crash landed in my front yard, dead aliens and beers cans scattered. maybe MIB cleaning the mess. happy Halloween 😂
I will be building mine using our old trampoline ring: it's currently being used to mark our stone firepit area but about to become an intergalactic vehicle!! 18' diameter!! (How the heck am I going to hang THAT between two trees??!) Nice work!!
Hi again! So we put this spaceship together and it's awesome, but the fog machine we bought (same one as in your list of supplies) doesn't emit fog unless you press the remote button and even when the fog DOES come out it never creates enough of it to blow out through the fans. Do you think we got a defective fog machine or is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance for your help!
Oh wow, you built the same UFO? That's awesome! The amount of fog from my fog machine is also not very impressive. It takes about 5 minutes to heat up, makes a little bit of fog, and you have to wait 3 more minutes before it will make fog again. I like the light feature of the fog machine, but the remote for the lights doesn't work very well either. Maybe you can return it and try a different fog machine. After I put the UFO outside, I realized it needs to be waterproof, so I added clear plastic sheeting over all the holes on top. I cut out a pentagon to go around the alien and taped it down with chrome colored duct tape. I also covered all the small triangles with plastic. This made the UFO resistant to rain and snow and improved the fog situation because it wasn't escaping through the top.
Really cool idea I like how you used conduit you could even make it without welding there’s a company in the USA called MakerPipe that makes structural connectors for conduit
I use a hose off my SHOP VAC and ran one to the far edge of the UFO in three places. I can turn it on and off at will with the remote. It shoots out a stream of fog, it looks way cool.
This is SOOO amazing!! My husband and I also want to build one of these! I know you said the diameter is 30 feet, but can you also tell me the dimensions of the supporting pieces that make up the sides of the spaceship? How "tall" is the spaceship? Thank you!
The perimeter of the UFO is made of three 10 foot long 1/2" inside diameter steel electrical conduit. That means the perimeter, or circumference is about 30 feet. The diameter is 9.5 feet. The height of the UFO is 40 inches.
Great job! Cardboard and duct tape; you are my kinda guy! Lol I made the scary Halloween trees from a different TH-cam channel and found out that I really like contact cement as well. Thank you for the inspiration.
I didn't take a picture, but the fans I used had 3 wires: positive, negative, and sensor. amzn.to/2SemjXX The sensor wire has a stripe on these fans. Don't connect that one. The other wires are +12v and negative. You can guess the other wires by connecting them to the power supply, but connecting +12v to the sensor wire will fry the fan circuit board.
I don't remember the exact number, but it was somewhere between 12 and 16 pieces of 10 ft long 1/2" inside diameter steel electrical conduit. I only used 5 couplers.
This is incredible, Paul! Great job! It has inspired me to try my own this year (fitting, with all the recent alien-stuff in the news). You've already been asked this a few times, but the fans and power source... I've never tried something like that, is it terribly hard to do? You just need the one plug adapter for all 15 fans?! I'm trying to find a tutorial somewhere, if you happen to know of one it would be much appreciated. Can't wait to see your next project!
Thanks! The UFO has been outside for 7 months now. I covered the openings in the top with clear plastic sheeting to waterproof it shortly after building it. It has survived several rain storms, a foot of snow on top of it, and a couple wind storms up to 40mph. I'm surprised how tough the UFO is. The cardboard on top is starting to sag a bit and the aluminum foil is wrinkled now. I had to repair the perimeter LED light strip twice (cheap Amazon LED strip). Everything on the UFO still works, and it looks amazing at night.
Hey how much tim it took you to build it and how much did you spent in total? 2 days and 200€ maybe? just asking because my director would like to have something similar and i need to calculate time and money for this :) would be awesome to get some infos!
Building the UFO took 30 hours of labor and $600. It took me 2 weeks to get it done. I built the UFO in my free time after work, and I had it mostly done in 1 week. I spent the second week adding computer cooling fans to blow the fog down and making sure all the lights work. Fog machines heat up vegetable oil to make the "fog" and it rises because it's hot. The fans force the fog to go under the UFO instead of having all of it rise up through the top. I made at least 10 trips to the store to buy more silver duck tape. Wal-mart has a good deal on 33 yard rolls or tape. Amazon sells the tiny 10 yard rolls and they're overpriced. They charge 4x as much per yard. I used about 200 yards of silver tape." Yeah already did so! I would love to buy the old men emu lift kit myself, only it isn’t available in the Netherlands. And the cost for shipping from the USA are tremendous. I do have a snorkel on mine though!
I live in Salt Lake City, UT so it's not very humid here, although the UFO has been through several rain storms and at one point had over a foot of snow on it. The outside has 2 layers of aluminum foil and lots of duct tape, so it's pretty much waterproof. That being said, after 8 months of being outside, the cardboard started to sag and the aluminum foil looks wrinkled now.

We have the technology to make a ufo now a days, made out of the same way the magnetic 🧲 technology from the railroad From China concept that train can travel 300 mph or 500mph?? well take that rail road into a circle ⭕️ Pretty big size right? So imagine that railroad in circle spinning around 300 mph ⭕️ and in the middle filled in with fin fan kinda like a turbine , now imagine the force of air!? N above it the cockpit n controls lithium battery’s etc ,wouldn’t that work ??
A magnetic railroad track in a circle is the same thing as an electric motor. Usually motors have a shaft in the middle but it is possible to move all the electrical windings to the outside. It would look cooler and be way more expensive. Not sure if it would be any better though. A drone or a helicopter is also the similar to what you're talking about.
Totally awesome. As a self-proclaimed UFO expert, I can say with certainty that this is accurate to how the aliens do it.
I came to this channel to learn how to fix my Rav4 and tune my scooter, and now I can travel inter dimensionally.
I lold way too hard from this comment! Gotta love Paul, though! The world needs more people like him.

What happened to the RAV4? Are you going to repair it?
The RAV4 is running again! I'm still finishing up the video. It's very detailed. You'll understand why it took so long when you see it.
The inner section frame work. how tall is it?
Reminds me of the old TV show "The Invaders" (A Quinn-Martin Production)
How many pipes did you use and how many fittings?

You can easy get it to fly by remote control it would look great.
I'm going to do something like this for a Mardi Gras float
nice job

love your ufo guys if i had the room would have one awesome..

A drone based UFO has been made before on TH-cam, but it wasn't very good. If only I had more money, I would make this actually fly.
