    It's taken years to perfect our installs, and we'd like to share this knowledge with everyone.
    My name is Brent and I have been an automotive window tinter since 1998 and have been installing paint protection film since 2004. In 1998 I took a 5 day class to learn the basics of window tinting. Then I started tinting cars and learning as I went. In 2004 I bought a roll of paint protection film (clear bra by 3m) and taught myself how to install it. I am now the Owner of ENCORE Window Tinting and Paint Protection Film in Stockton, CA.

      It's to make the fingers stay down and not continue to pop up. That way, you can move on to other parts of the installation. 😁

    Hi, greetings from Poland, what's the slip solution? Water + J&J ? Od PPF Gel ? what proportions? And the tack solution is izopropanol 20 % ? Great job i learn on you video's and try on my car.

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Welcome to the channel. Thank you for the feedback. Our soap is concentrated car wash soap. Slip solution is 7 milliliters soap to each gallon of water. All of our water goes through a reverse osmosis filtering system. The tack solution is 70% rubbing alcohol mixed at 20% rubbing alcohol to 80% water.

    interesting how you make the film stay with just slip solution. Is there any danger of defoliating in time by not using tac solution?
    You cought in time the missalignment near the left catadioptre.. what if don't see it and you are left with a hairline of ppf hanging(turning white when dry)?

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the comment!
      It's taken me years of installing PPF to get my slip solution and technique down so I don't need much tack solution. I used to use tac on every stretch. Without tac, I need to be quick and precise with positioning the first time, other wise I need to pull the film back and reapply slip solution. I'd say that my slip solution is closer to tac than most peoples, and that creates a very quick bond with the paint. I think that's better than too much soap that needs tac solution to stay in place. I do not have issues with my installs coming up over time. 👍
      As far as film hanging over the edges. Some parts will get trimmed off and others will get pushed down. Then EVERY EDGE will get heat sealed so it stays down. This means, there is not one edge on the install that I wont look at and make sure is good to leave my shop. Any edges (normally you shouldn't have any) that pop up after that need to be trimmed off. Edges that pop up will get dirty and look black in color. This is the worst on while and will make your installs look bad over time.
      I have a video coming out on Sunday that goes over edges, wrapping, heat sealing, and a bunch of other stuff.

      @@EncorePPFtint Thank you for your quick reply. Sorry to bother you like that :). I'm in detailing since 2004 and a friend of mine(and customer) wants me to wrap his new RS6 in PPF, because he says that he doesn't trust anyone else. Now i'm pretty sure i do not have 2 left hands... but this will be quite a challange. Now i'm in the learning stage. ☺

      @EncorePPFtint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No bother at all. I made this videos with the intention of helping people learn about installing PPF. That includes answering questions! :) You've been detailing for a long time. I believe the detailer make great PPF installer because attention to detail is super important and we know you've already got that skill.
      The RS6 is an awesome vehicle! You can check out the two Porsche videos on my channel for the hood install and how to work with the tow hook cover (also works on the headlight sprayers). The bumper is going to be a bit more of a challenge for someone just starting out (unless you are cutting the patterns with a computer), especially if you are bulking the install (hand cutting).

      @@EncorePPFtint I am going to go with a precut kit.. of course, but that doesn't mean it is going to be easy. My biggest fear is going with a cutter anywhere near that clearcoat 😁 and the second one to be too gentle with the film especially around the edges. I see you are quite rough in those particular areas and i'm pretty sure you have your reasons 😂

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pre-cut is a great idea for your first installation. Sometimes I sqeegee fast and hard but it's not necessary. I do it for speed. Just take your time and get all of that water out. As far as cutting on the paint goes, here's how I teach people. Find a body shop that is throwing away old fenders or hoods from cars and has if you can have one. You might even go by and ask them to save you a better one over the next couple of weeks or so. Then, take that home and apply ppf to it. Cut 1 inch strips off of the piece until it's gone. Put another piece on there and do it all over. This will teach you how much pressure you need, and if you use too much pressure, you'll be able to see the cut in the paint. Practice and practice without the worries of cutting paint on a customers car. I've also heard of people blowing up a balloon and applying ppf to it. You'll know if you cut to deap when the balloon pops. 😂🤣👍🏻

    Is the orange squeegee softer than the pink one?

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Orange is medium as far as hardness. Pink is hard, and green is soft. Keep in mind that not all manufacturers use the same colors to signify hardness (super pain in the butt!).
      Here is a link to all three on Amazon. This isn't my favorite shape of the squeegee but it has all three hardnesses. 👍🏻
