    Beavercraft is the best. I've been carving for 40+ years. The knives & gouges are well made, razor-sharp & for the money, they can't be beaten.

    Their customer service is top notch. My wife got me the set with a gouge, hook knife and carving knife. As I was working on a kuska the hook knife snapped. We contacted the company and they immediately sent a replacement with an extra gift (stropping leather with compound). However, they replaced the gouge. When my wife contacted them again and told them we would send the new gouge back they said to keep it as a gift and are sending a new hook knife. Time will tell if the first hook knife was a fluke or if they are just not good knives, but you can't beat their customer service!

    This review and effort put into it should be the standard for review-type videos accross the board!

      Thank you very much, I appreciate it! I am long winded I know, but I try. :)

      @@LarryRobertsbc Not at all a bad trait :) If you can be long winded and maintain the coherence and information transfer like you do it shows a passion. As a knife and toolmaker I really appreciate that you went so far as to find out what steels were being sold! You present them well man.

    I have a bunch of their tools as well. Great quality for the price, and their customer service seems excellent. Good overview!

      Lovely word that, William, isn't it? Resonated. It was the first word that came to my mind when I saw my first spoon/Kuksa carving videos. I hope to get my little kit next month - June.

    They seem decent tool, certainly at their price point. That long handled tool looks to be a Welsh Twca Cam. They can really hog out material quickly once you get the hang of one. Thanks for showing us the kit, and actually doing a project with them. 👍👍

    Very educative and entertaining. Always a pleasure watching your vids. Loved your Mongolia project vids. I bought a Larry Roberts LT Wright with the rat logo. Loved it and treasure it and bought several more LT Wright knives after that. I trust your insights and opinion as you speak thru experience. Thank you Larry, keep the vids coming!

    I've seen this set reviewed several times now and _all_ the reviews have been good apart from one guy who mumbled and muttered and gave the impression that he didn't know what he was talking about. Also I personally, from a personal viewpoint, am inclined to support the Ukraine and any product they produce. Of course now that the bloody Russians have destroyed the Ukraine's chief steel plant one wonders how much longer these little kits will be available. The one I have my eye on is the S13 - the little 3 piece kit.

      Do you have an Android phone? The new TH-cam is no longer supported by Android and when you click on some links it just tells you that you're out of date. I don't have WhatsApp any more either. Bugger.

    Hi Larry. So, there’s something I’ve wanted to ask for a while; Why no videos of the Boundary Waters?
    By the way, it looks like a good set.

    • @LarryRobertsbc
      @LarryRobertsbc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No videos of the boundary waters because I’ve never been. Every time we try to go I end up doing an Alone. Lol We have plans for this year.

      Larry Roberts It’s funny, but, I had the sense that you [actually] haven’t been to the BW - crazy as that sounds; otherwise, you would have shot some video. Anyhow, I’m glad to hear that you are making the trip this year. This year, my son and I are putting in on Clearwater Lake (Entry Point 62) and taking 2 weeks - at the end of July - to do a lazy loop through Mountain Lake down to Little John, then up to East Pike and back to Clearwater.
      If you are interested in any thoughts / ideas / feedback, shoot me a message - I have a couple of dozen trips into the BW and can speak from that familiarity. Likewise, if you are in need of some specific canoe-tripping gear, i.e., Blue Bear Barrels, Cooke Custom Sewing Portage Packs or Tarps, etc., let me know and I will make mine available for you. My e-mail is; dennisley@aol.com. Good luck.

      By the way, there are a couple of BWCA Facebook pages you may want to join.

      I'm left-handed too, although actually I do a lot of stuff with my right. But I'll carve left. Hope to be getting my Beavercraft kit next month. I live on a Citrus farm in Citrusdal in the Western Cape of South Africa; orange wood is _everywhere_ and such a beautiful golden yellow wood.
