Thanks for this video! I just did my 04 4Runner SR5 lights (except the dash lights). Tip on that cupholder light bulb...you have to turn the bulb mount 180 degrees counter clockwise; if you only get to 90 degrees, it isn't far enough to come out. I had to use straight needle nose plies to get a good enough grip to keep turning the additional 90 degree. I had additional clearance to reach that socket because my center dash was removed so I could install a bulb in the 4x4-switch and the rear-windows-switch. For the bulb under the gear shift, I did not have to take out the socket...I just pulled the bulb straight out with needle nose pliers, and inserted a new bulb directly into the socket. I confirmed each bulb worked before putting anything back together. Those T4 bulbs are NOT a direct fit and there is no screwdriver indentation to help you turn the bulbs in their sockets; I had to use two small flathead screwdrivers to put enough force to rotate the bulbs into position. Good enough. I gave all the plastic a good hot-soap-cleaning and protectant-spray after they came out...made a huge difference to cleanliness. On a side-note, the purple/pink/violet T4 bulbs ship from China and took about 3 weeks to arrive. But well worth it.
Love the video but you didn’t show the back of the 4 High/4Low switch and that is what I was looking for haha. But perfect video, most people don’t know these all light up!
@@JonFox1945 push harder and slightly deform the plastic. I looked more closely and its really just about getting the bulb metal leads in contact with the metal on the bulb housing.
@@KristopherLong that's what I figured, something I learned about working in cars is that unlike computers, you just have to use brute force sometimes. Thanks for confirming!
Thanks! I didn't even know my 4runner had cupholder lights or 4h 4l lights. Just replacew them with a beautiful bluem although im thinking if maybe sanding down the cupholder lense so the lights shine brighter since they seem dim through the film despite being bright
Just a heads up read online that you should disconnect the battery when unplugging the component with the passenger airbag light or leave it plugged in. A short in the passenger airbag system will prevent the passenger airbag from deploying in the event of an accident. And everyone online says the only fix is taking it to the dealership. Just $0.02 from what I've read online.
Lol, your supposed to disconnect the battery any time you work on a car period , there is no need to Dixon next the battery if you do everything careful , air bags will not deploy unless you are messing the air bag system .
If you click "show more" on his video details, he shows which bulbs are for which switches. The 5-button-circular HVAC switches used the T3 bulbs. The HVAC display uses T4.
Idk how but my 2006 limited V8 4runner does not have the same bulbs as yours. The bottom right (low/high light) and the top right (clock reset button) are the only ones that fit. All of the lower AC panel bulbs are long and skinny, did not match the T4.2, T4, T3, nor T5. Confused on what bulbs to get as they should be the same as yours but aren't...
I just ordered some t4/t4.2 neo wedge white bulbs to change out the climate control bulbs.. i noticed the once in your link have 1 single led the ones i have 2 square leds.. these dont fit at all.. will the ones in your link fit forsure?

Great video thanks for sharing! How many inches is your Alpine stereo?

Sorry , All the switches are the same , I also put the bulb needed for each switch .
The T5 bulbs are the only ones working for me. The locking tabs on the smaller ones don’t bite at all.
Find a solution?

No problem , I didn’t either till I got in another one and saw the lights and that wouldn’t be a bad idea sanding them down some
Super video. How many bulbs do I need of each type for a 2005 Sport Edition? I’d rather have too many than too few 😀. Thx!
Thank for the view if you go to 2:36 in the video I explain how many light and type of light.
Great video thanks next project on my list

@@PRviewsvlogs read much? Two cents from 4runner forums, didn't say that it will deploy, but rather WILL NOT if the module is shorted.
@@n8fam didn’t read cause your comment is worthless , if you saw the video nothing happens everything works , just need to know what your doing .
thanks for doing this! are you going to do the steering wheel and window switch light?
Yes soon possibly when I do the dash lights

Hi Thanks for your video, are those LED light bulbs responding for the dash dimmer control ? Thanks.

So, you can't use the cargo cover anymore...? And! No way to clean interior glass... 😕
What ??
Interesting when I hit the link for the T4.2 bulbs, Amazon says it doesn’t fit my 07 4R. Any ideas on this?
Cause Amazon thinks your trying to replace regular bulbs not the control unit bulbs
