Just a suggestion, if you are not going to use a sewing machine to zigzag the edges of your fabric to prevent fraying, use Artist tape rather than masking tape, no residue. Your stitching is beautiful! Great work!! You have me convinced to go back to my HAED's!

My feeling about Mirabelia remarking about Bella: she forgets she took her faces, dresses, etc from her mother, Marilyn Leavitt Imblum of Lavender & Lace, Butternut Road and Told In A Garden. They had a falling out for years!
I have been stitching since the 80s and remember the Lavender and Lace designs when they were new, I stitched 2 of them back then and have a big hoard of almost all Marilyn's designs. Her faces are soft and graceful, so lovely! Mirabilia on the other hand, not so much. Most of the ladies in that line all have the same snooty, haughty, elitist look on their faces, never been a fan, never purchased even 1 of her patterns. I didn't know she fell out with her mother. I guess that kinda says it all. What's your character if you do that? Oh well, people reap what they sow.

I was in the process of kitting up a few of their designs and stopped after what happened. It's nice to know I'm not alone in feeling hesitant about buying new patterns and starting more of their designs.

I loved all your WIPs! I need to get toast from Bestitchme and Autumn Town from Autumn Lane. I've seen that pattern on a few flosstubes and everytime I do, I like it more. I had heard much about the designer issue, but it makes me want to try a Bella Fipina (sp?). I've got Forests of Sumatra out for a bit now, love it!

A designer who constantly steals by culturally appropriating ideas to accuse another designer who is actually stitching culturally relevant material is ignorant and selfish, and very unaware. I tend to continue to stitch on already purchased patterns but avoid buying new ones in cases when I disagree with vendors. I got myself a piece of Toast from BeStitchMe! Not sure what to put on it yet. Your blue floss looks really good on it. The fantasy alphabet is really striking, the colors are gorgeous. Nordic Santa is beautiful. It looks great on that jade aida. I was wondering what you had in mind for your seasonal pieces. The pillow sounds like a good idea. Your merman will look spectacular on that fabric! I need to work on the Collectors! You're right, doing wip parades puts so many more projects back on our radar. Blue Velvet is beautiful. Love that peachy-pink fabric. I've never tried virtual stitchers, it sounds fun. I want to do the three winter Cottage Gardens too. I love that fabric. Distress is an understatement 😕 That fabric for Prudence is beautiful. Hey, Matt! You’re keeping me company while I stitch all this 939 on Dark Queen! I’m feeling exactly the same about Mirabilia right now…really poor taste and I think it backfired because it just made me want to go by every Bella chart 😆😆😆 as soon as I get to an LNS that has them, I’m hauling big!!!

I started it the year it was released in 1998, but I was a novice stitcher at the time and somehow put a whole in the fabric a quarter way into the project. Aaargggghhhh! I guess my only recourse is to vicariously enjoy your progress and your finish. I may be in the minority on the "controversy," but I am firmly on team Nora Corbett. The moment I first saw a Bella Filipina pattern, the words of the late Oscar Wilde came to my mind: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness." Stay safe and well.
Well mighty Samurai hasn’t made much progress lately but hopefully he will get some love this year. I think especially some of the older Bella patterns have more similarity to Nora’s but I think a lot of his more recent pieces go beyond what she has done. But that can also be said of Nora and her mother’s work.

Thank you! To me a WIP is something I have started and want to finish. I do set some goals but not really to work on everything in a certain time period. If I don’t feel like working on something I just wait until I do. Happy stitching!!😁

Don’t be afraid to take breaks if you have a lot of projects. You will probably forget something about a project, I did. Don’t worry about that. Just talk about each piece and show us why you love it or what it is that has you working on it. And enjoy!
First time watcher. I love the variety of your WIPS. Can you tell me where you got the extra large vinyl zipper bags? I can only find up to 16x13 on Amazon. Yours look large get than that.
I got them on Amazon. They are listed as 16x12.4. Most are too small to fit an 11x11 but a few of them do tightly fit an 11x11 qsnap. I wish someone made bags that were 14x14 but I have not found any like that.
Regardless of how long it takes you, I will always enjoy seeing your progress on the Mythical Creatures alphabet piece! How do you plan to display Intimate Encounter when it's completed?

I think dimensions will email you the PDF if you send proof you own the kit! (though I am not sure they have a pdf of all their pieces)

I am! I’m planning on doing it on a slightly different fabric, but it will be an under the sea fabric! I can’t wait for this to get going!
