It is so funny to think now that I also used to be a monogamous stitcher. But I felt burnt out often... I love having many stitchy options now as they keep me excited all the time. ❤

It has been a nice one to stitch. My biggest problem with it now is that I need to start stitching to the left and that is my least favourite thing. I keep avoiding it. Lol. I may need to be a good and just count myself to the left edge and go from there. 🚲

You may have already had a comment to this effect, but handwork maniac on TH-cam has a chicken WIP 'roasted chicken with potatoes' that seems to be by the same artist as the chicken in your lovely bag. Or you can just search for a pattern by that name . Nice video! glad you have kept going

The RTO I ordered and have received already is called “Smoky Lilac Fog.” Lots of pretty blue shades in it and kind of water-colory (is that a word?) looking. It’s not huge (111 x 80), but it may be challenging for me. I have to get a few wips finished before I start it. Why do I love ALL the charts??!! LOL Happy stitching!!

Thank you so so much Linda! I am so happy to hear that you liked my wips. ❤ Backstitching really is so much fun. I think that the main is to just take your time. People often want to rush it and that definitely takes all the fun out of it. Also, often I like to do most of the backstitching one square at a time instead of doing long stitches. For me, doing backstitching is like drawing. It is so exciting to see the picture emerge as you go.

Laura, you are lovely. Your projects are so special. I'm sure you have heard the saying that a journey of 10,000 steps begins with the first one. Don't worry about having a small start, it will grow. On the look of your half and quarter stitches, they look gorgeous. Put your work on the back of a chair and take a couple of steps back and you will see how perfect they are. I know, I know... I don't know what I was thinking jumping head first into the Dimensions kits! Eek! They are so darn pretty, but oh wow, how overwhelmed I get whenever I stitch them. I think I need to come up with some method to make them a bit easier for me, as I have so many of them to stitch now! It was so funny about the ostrich! I just couldn't remember the name. Hi Debi! Thank you so so so much. Your comment made me so happy. Ah, it really was scary to make that video. It took all month for me to come up with enough courage. I did a couple of tiny test videos and tried to feel more comfortable. Then one day, I just sat down and did the whole thing in one go. Eek! I wouldn't know how to edit anything, so I got my husband to do that part. LOL. I am so chuffed that you loved the projects I am working on!!!! Yaaaaay!!! I don't often seem to see others stitching what I am working on ... other than Dimensions, of course. Plenty more projects still in part 2... I even started a new one just last night.
Laura, I'm just finding you-gratiousness you are awesome! Your smile is contagious! Your stitching is beautiful and the types of pieces are so interesting. I'm not at all familiar with the Russian designers but some of those are soooo beautiful ugh those Peonies are gorgeous! Are their threads different than DMC? They are really intense and saturated. They cat colors were so pretty. I lived in Virrat, Finland for a year in 1985-86. I was a Rotary exchange student. I loved it so much, such and incredibly beautiful country. Where are you at in Finland? Another crazy question, first you speak perfect English--how? But you speak Aussie english--again How? My sister has lived in Australia since 1983 and you sound just like her. I remember my English/Suomi teacher speaking very British English. Please keep going with your flosstubes-your doing great and I love it!!

I can't believe that I already have four more videos for you to see. I have been busy! LOL. Many of the Russian kits have the regular DMC threads. I think all RTO kits have that and so do some of the Riolis kits. Some of the Riolis kits have wool acrylic threads which also have such beautiful intense colours. They are all nice! Well, as you guessed, I forgot to mention something in the video... I am Finnish, but I do now live in Australia. LOL. And my husband is British (but with no accent really), so I don't have the full Aussie accent, just bits here and there. How great that you got to spend a year in Finland!!! That is wonderful. I am from Northern Finland, near Oulu.

I don't even cook much!!!! I just love looking and reading the books and marking recipes and writing lists of what I want to bake or cook. Of course, I never get through the lists... oh well. Planning is half the fun for sure.

@@vickikissinger4285 I grabbed the Magnificent Seven to work on last night. I think I will try to make some progress on that one. It is actually a Sunset kit, but well, Dimensions anyway. A bit easier than all those Gold Collection ones. I love it when there is no need for more than 2 strands! Makes life much easier.
@@istitchbirds I agree the use of three threads, four threads and all the blends is annoying at times. Especially on my one kit, Tiger Chilling Out which is on black 18 count aida it gets so tight and hard to stitch.
Hei Laura! I'm a *very* proud half Finn - my maternal grandparents were from the Oulu area, and 47 😳 years ago I was an exchange student and lived near Kuopio. I was fortunate to travel a bit during that year and saw a lot of the country I am so proud to have roots. 🇫🇮💪 I was so *thrilled* to hear about where you were from, and now wonder if we are separated twibs, as I have dealt with anxiety and depression my entire life. I guess us Finns come from a culture of not admitting what we think is a personal failing, even when our common sense tells us that's incorrect. I immediately felt like I knew you. How lovely! I also need my stitching time to keep my sanity, so I have a lot of WIPs too. It seems I feel much like others who have commented - I love so many of your projects! My brother lives in Oulu though. +big smile+ And what I forgot to mention on my video is that I live in Australia at the moment. LOL. I do think that Finns easily struggle with depression and anxiety, especially as talking about it all hasn't (and still isn't) so easy. And that looooooong dark winter! Isn't it so interesting to see someone on a flosstube who shares your passion for cross stitch, and when you see them smile at their WIPs, you think - that's what I do too! I'm looking forward to receiving a kit I ordered after seeing your video - the Merdeka with titmouses. 🤣 I fell in love with that one too! Last night I just started a PDF pattern from Etsy called "Trees" from DotsandSpotsShop. It's a bit melancholy, which I like. I am one of those people who gets all the people time I want at work. Once I am home, I need my alone time! I enjoy reading, listening to music, cross stitch and to a lesser extent, diamond painting. I think I have around 50 WIPs, but haven't counted them yet. Next April I will be retiring and am really looking forward to having the time to completely inventory and organize my stash. I'm an eclectic stitcher, but for some reason samplers just aren't my taste. I like variety and now use the "stitch what I want when I want" method. I am so looking forward to your next video! I may end up buying another project - ha! 😊

You've got some of the sweetest patterns. I absolutely love birds too. I've been doing all red birds from old filet crochet curtain and doily patterns. So fun. I'm also a quilter, with over 20 projects in progress, so I only let myself work on one cross-stitch at a time.

The RTO I ordered and have received already is called “Smoky Lilac Fog.” Lots of pretty blue shades in it and kind of water-colory (is that a word?) looking. It’s not huge (111 x 80), but it may be challenging for me. I have to get a few wips finished before I start it. Why do I love ALL the charts??!! LOL Happy stitching!!

People often want to rush it and that definitely takes all the fun out of it. Also, often I like to do most of the backstitching one square at a time instead of doing long stitches. For me, doing backstitching is like drawing. It is so exciting to see the picture emerge as you go.

Laura, you are lovely. Your projects are so special. I'm sure you have heard the saying that a journey of 10,000 steps begins with the first one. Don't worry about having a small start, it will grow. On the look of your half and quarter stitches, they look gorgeous. Put your work on the back of a chair and take a couple of steps back and you will see how perfect they are. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Wow I love all you wipes ,and on the dark fabric they just pop. I used to stitch a long time ago,but my eyes are not that good any more.

Great job. Can’t believe you tackle those dimension ones. Never will I get to that expert level WOW. Good for you I always admire them but I don’t have the patience todo those with lots of color change. The bird was an ostrich! Loved seeing all your stitch bags. My favorite were the chickens. And loved that wild chicken bag. Loved seeing all your projects.
I know, I know... I don't know what I was thinking jumping head first into the Dimensions kits! Eek! They are so darn pretty, but oh wow, how overwhelmed I get whenever I stitch them. I think I need to come up with some method to make them a bit easier for me, as I have so many of them to stitch now!
It was so funny about the ostrich! I just couldn't remember the name. I remembered what it was in Finnish, but not the english word. LOL.

Hi Debi! Thank you so so so much. Your comment made me so happy. Ah, it really was scary to make that video. It took all month for me to come up with enough courage. I did a couple of tiny test videos and tried to feel more comfortable. Then one day, I just sat down and did the whole thing in one go. Eek! I wouldn't know how to edit anything, so I got my husband to do that part. LOL.
I am so chuffed that you loved the projects I am working on!!!! Yaaaaay!!! I don't often seem to see others stitching what I am working on ... other than Dimensions, of course. Plenty more projects still in part 2... I even started a new one just last night.
Laura, I'm just finding you-gratiousness you are awesome! Your smile is contagious! Your stitching is beautiful and the types of pieces are so interesting. I'm not at all familiar with the Russian designers but some of those are soooo beautiful ugh those Peonies are gorgeous! Are their threads different than DMC? They are really intense and saturated. They cat colors were so pretty. I lived in Virrat, Finland for a year in 1985-86. I was a Rotary exchange student. I loved it so much, such and incredibly beautiful country. Where are you at in Finland? Another crazy question, first you speak perfect English--how? But you speak Aussie english--again How? My sister has lived in Australia since 1983 and you sound just like her. I remember my English/Suomi teacher speaking very British English. Please keep going with your flosstubes-your doing great and I love it!!

Many of the Russian kits have the regular DMC threads. I think all RTO kits have that and so do some of the Riolis kits. Some of the Riolis kits have wool acrylic threads which also have such beautiful intense colours. They are all nice!
Well, as you guessed, I forgot to mention something in the video... I am Finnish, but I do now live in Australia. LOL. And my husband is British (but with no accent really), so I don't have the full Aussie accent, just bits here and there.

My cookbook library is huge! LOL I have over 600 cookbooks now. I don't even cook much!!!! I just love looking and reading the books and marking recipes and writing lists of what I want to bake or cook. Of course, I never get through the lists... oh well. Planning is half the fun for sure.

I too like birds and chickens. My son says,”Mom , what’s with all the chickens!!”😂 I’m currently stitching a bird kit project. Your project bags are some of the most beautiful fabric designs!! I look forward to your next video. I’m not much of a linen stitcher so it’s always nice to find another stitcher of kits and who uses the Aida with the kit.

Those Dimensions kits... I have such a love-hate relationship with them. I love buying them and love starting them, but they like to make me feel overwhelmed! Ooh, I have just been eyeing that Feasting Frenzy one. The birds are soooo pretty on that. I must be a nice one to stitch too as you can concentrate on one bird at a time.
@@istitchbirds I have been doing it one bird at a time with a bit of the feeder in between birds. Works well that way. I have another kit from Dimensions with a lot of birds too. Can’t think of the name right now. Haven’t started it, yet. Working on two other of their kits, 4 HAEDs and a few other things. Don’t let Dimensions intimidate you. Just do one stitch at a time and have fun seeing the picture appear. Can’t wait to see the rest of your wips.
@@vickikissinger4285 I grabbed the Magnificent Seven to work on last night. I think I will try to make some progress on that one. It is actually a Sunset kit, but well, Dimensions anyway. A bit easier than all those Gold Collection ones. I love it when there is no need for more than 2 strands! Makes life much easier.
@@istitchbirds I agree the use of three threads, four threads and all the blends is annoying at times. Especially on my one kit, Tiger Chilling Out which is on black 18 count aida it gets so tight and hard to stitch.
Hei Laura! I'm a *very* proud half Finn - my maternal grandparents were from the Oulu area, and 47 😳 years ago I was an exchange student and lived near Kuopio. I was fortunate to travel a bit during that year and saw a lot of the country I am so proud to have roots. 🇫🇮💪
I was so *thrilled* to hear about where you were from, and now wonder if we are separated twibs, as I have dealt with anxiety and depression my entire life. I guess us Finns come from a culture of not admitting what we think is a personal failing, even when our common sense tells us that's incorrect. I immediately felt like I knew you. How lovely!
I also need my stitching time to keep my sanity, so I have a lot of WIPs too. It seems I feel much like others who have commented - I love so many of your projects!

I do think that Finns easily struggle with depression and anxiety, especially as talking about it all hasn't (and still isn't) so easy. And that looooooong dark winter!

Last night I just started a PDF pattern from Etsy called "Trees" from DotsandSpotsShop. It's a bit melancholy, which I like. I am one of those people who gets all the people time I want at work. Once I am home, I need my alone time! I enjoy reading, listening to music, cross stitch and to a lesser extent, diamond painting.
I think I have around 50 WIPs, but haven't counted them yet. Next April I will be retiring and am really looking forward to having the time to completely inventory and organize my stash. I'm an eclectic stitcher, but for some reason samplers just aren't my taste. I like variety and now use the "stitch what I want when I want" method.
I am so looking forward to your next video! I may end up buying another project - ha! 😊

You've got some of the sweetest patterns. I absolutely love birds too. I've been doing all red birds from old filet crochet curtain and doily patterns. So fun. I'm also a quilter, with over 20 projects in progress, so I only let myself work on one cross-stitch at a time.
