    Love the color and the interior is on a whole 'nother level from the factory new standard.
    Just lovely workmanship and care being displayed here.

    I have 'fond' memories of replacing the front header on my 1976 308GT4 with the engine in-situ. The rear one was easy. Oh, the sound of Webers, so addictive.

    Most people don't know this and it sounds counter-intuitive but you can pour nearly a liter of oil into the filer and it will not spill out when you turn it right side up because of the check valve and stand pipe. It's the same as when you take the old filter off, it is full of oil but it doesn't spill all over the engine nor does it drain out after then engine is shut down. That's how it's designed. (at least the Baldwin and UFI are, not sure about Fram)

    Wow how sweet was that. It's been a long time coming but so worth it. It has been a real education and a show of real craftsmanship following this video series. Can't wait to see it on the road👍

    How did you create such perfect looking engine cover/cases pieces? Soda blasting, phosphate, paint? Just gorgeous - I want use the same recipe on my 308!

    Great video guys! Workmanship and knowledge are top echelon. MECHANIC ALERT: I just worry about carbon monoxide poisoning as it appears you ran the car inside the garage for some time w/o any exhaust venting. Not good because as you know, the gasses are odorless. Not trying to nitpick, I just hope you don't make a practice of that (scary).
    I have a 1987 Ferrari Mondial which also has the V-8 Dino engine (but with twin distributors, Quatrovalvole and CIS fuel injection) so your video is a big help. Thanks again! Cheers!

    Hi Guys, looks like a fantastic project. I'm going to remove the engine and gearbox from my 328gts, so my question is, how heavy is the whole assembly before I purchase an engine hoist. Thanks for your time.

    • @pi.actual
      @pi.actual 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's somewhere around 320-350 kilos with the bell housing on.

    Why those old engines sound so bad - mechanically???

  • @CrankAddict
    @CrankAddict 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is NOT what I expected the engine to sound like. With headers (and Tubi exhaust), I was expecting something more guteral/throaty. Maybe my computer needs new speakers. Beautiful car. The 288 GTO is still the most beautiful car in the world in my opinion, and the 308 is not far behind on that list.

    Who is paying for this thing? I mean this is going to be the world most expensive Ferrari 308! This model was actually the low end of Ferrari's car lineup. It almost sounds like someone is getting duped here. Unless he don't mind making the shop rich and ending up with a car maybe worth a third of the build cost. I don't know, crazy times we live in.

    How much money does it cost for this kind of restoration seems crazy….50-75k?

    The steering wheel is correct for a 308 GT4 NOT a 308 GTB/GTS and your using a FRAMM Filter OMG!

    • @aod2392
      @aod2392 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is correct for a carburettor car. Same as on my first 1980 GTB. They changed on the GTB/Si and again on the QVs. (Satin black Momo’s)

    • @peterzabrdac4271
      @peterzabrdac4271 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aod2392 rubbish. Check your facts the 308 GTB carbie cars used a slim Momo wheel from the earliest vetroresina cars until the injected cars when they went to a Nardi wheel and then back to Momo for the QV series. The wheel on this car is the momo model from a 308 GT4. And I standby the lunacy of using the Framm oil filter.

    • @aod2392
      @aod2392 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@peterzabrdac4271 you are incorrect for UK cars. I’ve been a member of the FOC for over 30 years and owned 2 308s. Carburettor GTB & GTSQV. US spec may have been different to UK & Europe but I’m doubtful. The 308 GT4 steering wheels were identical to the carburettor GTB/S.

    • @peterzabrdac4271
      @peterzabrdac4271 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aod2392 I have a large volume of UK period literature on the 308 including road tests and factory brochures and they all picture a different wheel. The 308 GT4 wheel was also used on carby boxers. I owned an original UK delivery 308 GTB and have a 308 QV gts now. Factory Momo's supplied to Ferrari all have an "F" stamping on the underside and year of manufacture (2 digits).
