- Got this server secondhand plan to load up xenserver figure all that jazz out, make a few virtual machines, have a windows environment and a few linux distros and play around a bit. Ultimately I wanna have a five m server and a teamspeak server up by the end of the week. We will see how the trial and error goes and roll with the punches.
Hit F8 after the temp and fan test
It'll boot u into iLO menu
Exit the menu
Get ready to hit Hit F8 when prompted
Congrats you made it to the menu

I feel the need to post this comment here because it took me some time to figure it out and this video gave me some of the clues I needed.
I am working on a HP Proliant DL120 G7 and was desperately searching for the RAID menu.
In order to have the F8 corresponding option presented to you, you must:
1. access the ROM-Based Setup Utility menu
2. go into Advanced Options --> SATA Controller Options --> Embedded SATA Configuration --> Enable SATA RAID Support

Thank you Thank thank you I was getting rather desperate windows not recognizing any drives present until you showed me the f8 raid setup that still needed to be done. Pewww no the system is installing windows and I can relax again. thank you from The Netherlands Europe
If you disable the "hide system option rom messages" in the "advanced options" menu in the bios you will see all the rom options during post boot.

I finally figured out how to do this. Thank you. Does anyone know how to solve the problem with installing windows server after this step? It keeps saying windows cant install due to drive not recognized for boot or something. Tried making it the boot disk still doesn't work.
I'd format the drive in the server theb partition it then raid em. Check within the Windows Setup if it shows up then wipe it in windows setup format it and start it again.

if one drive in the array is amber can you just put replacement in and it will self build then boot? or what??
it should I usually do Raid 5 just to make sure I can but that's how it works lol
get the same model drives and it takes time but it will rebuild

I have done this on thousands of servers, from G1s all the way to G10s. Super boring!

do you have ssd in dl380? mines cant go full speed for some reason

@@drpainlesss i think i figured it out, g7 uses sata 2/SAS backplane and even with the battery backup write cache enabled you won't ever get full speeds.
@@dumbboatproject Primocache gives me ok speeds lately i cannot found better solution than using software
@@drpainlesss I have given up on the HP server for now because of this flaw and the firmware updates are impossible to get.
I have the exact machine and it takes FOREVER before the video comes up.
