    I've played the Sims so long that I leave much more space between everything. Thanks for this, it's good to know I can make it tighter in there.

    This library layout is so much more efficient than what I was trying to make. Thanks so much for this design that can hold more people without them getting too clogged up and in each other's way. My lines were way too long.

    Gosh darn it! This is much better than what I had! And the two desks per type makes SO much sense so that I don't have student queues! Just need to wait to build up that Kudosh now to unlock the Reception! Always a great S&T video Pinstar! Thank you!! 😁

    Hej! Capacity seems to be calculated by an initial number (8 for Library, 5 for StudentLounge/-Union, 4 for StaffRoom etc.) and then adding one per every 5 squares.
    Thanks for your great videos, keep up the good work! JA

    It was my failure factor that I was trying to build the library which is similar in reality one. Like, lineing all the bookshelves in a row. That's why spaces isn't enough and not efficient. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME GREAT IDEA.

    Am I correct in assuming, based on this video, that it's more efficient to build a second copy of this and hire another librarian than it is to expand on this design?
    Also, even though a second librarian wouldn't increase capacity, I assume that there's not enough of a bottleneck to justify two librarians and two desks?

    • @Pinstar
      @Pinstar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. If you have more students that one library can handle, build a 2nd copy of this. Not only will this double your capacity, but it will also let you space them out so students who need a library will more likely have a shorter walk distance to one of them.
      The big reception is semi-automated in that students can return books without interacting with the librarian, leaving the librarian free to restock the bookshelves. You will occasionally get a small queue to check out books, but that is more due to the conveyor belt - stamp book animation than a factor of your librarians.

    • @catherinelee4594
      @catherinelee4594 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Pinstar What about the fact that you can stack up to 3 librarians in a library for more learning+? Have you tested whether that outweighs multiple distributed small libraries?

    • @Pinstar
      @Pinstar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@catherinelee4594 I will admit that I have not. However, the student limit seems to be the biggest bottleneck. As the room size gets bigger and bigger the extra capacity you get is smaller and smaller. Meaning a huge library with 3 librarians would probably only be able to hold a couple extra students. Meanwhile, you're paying the salaries of 3 librarians who are not able to serve 3 times as many students due to the room size. So yes, you could improve on it, but having several libraries is the best way to make sure there is enough capacity for all students. That said, I'm going to test a *slightly* larger library that calls for 2 librarians to see if it can compete with this model.

    • @alexhill8700
      @alexhill8700 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Pinstar what is the purpose of adding extra librarians? I thought I read somewhere a Librarian can only help three students at a time but that doesn't seem to be true...

    • @Pinstar
      @Pinstar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alexhill8700 There are certain assignments, namely those with bookshelves, that involve the librarian. But Any assignment needing any of the desks does not involve the librarian at all. The librarian also restocks books, as students using them cause them to become "Damaged" (IE books are checked out) so the librarian is the only one who can "repair" them. That said, I think a single librarian can keep up pretty well without being too much of a bottleneck.
      If ALL students needed a librarian's help, then that would be a different story.

  • @nategar412
    @nategar412 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video!
    Question though: what would you recommend for the very beginning before the big librarian desk is unlocked?

    • @Pinstar
      @Pinstar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The small desk works in a pinch. You're just missing the automated aspects of it, and the +8% learning bonus, but the library as a whole will still function fine while you save up the kudosh for the big reception.

    • @Pinstar

    What is the ratio of library cap to total students? Is 12 enough for 60 student campus?

    • @Pinstar
      @Pinstar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's pretty close. My non scientific estimate is at about 75 students. It can absolutely handle more than 50 that a single dorm/bathroom/shower/lounge can, but it struggles to keep up at 100 by itself.

    • @Pinstar
      @Pinstar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      75 is the metric I use. You'll get bursts of overcrowding when classes let out from time to time, but it doesn't become a serious problem until past 75. That said, since they are so expensive, they are one of the things you can wait until halfway through a semester to place and additional one of, rather than needing to have it down before you start the semester (like you should with classrooms and dorms)

    • @Pinstar

      The wizard level is tough because of the invaders. Pumpkin head saps happiness which, in turn, hurts grades. Not to mention, they spend time waiting to get cured that other needs get neglected. The trick is security janitors and make sure to level them up to level 2-3. Level 1 janitors frequently fail to defeat an intruder when they confront them.
