Thank you. The video helped. I took a step farther by replacing water pump and all idler and tension idler as well as valve cover gasket but this video got me most of the way. cheers.
Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to make it. I have my friend's 2007 KIA Spectra-5 with only 40K miles on it. It has been an extremely neglected car due to my friend having no money. The engine oil looks really bad. I am thinking about doing the timing belt for him since it's an interference design so if the belt does break, the car is done. I took off the upper inspection cover and the belt has lots of hard-to-see fine cracks. Thanks again!
Nice video as always and the deatils for tools👍. In all honesty It's always cool watching your videos, because i also work as a kia tech and watchingas a viewer is always refreshing instead of me doing the actual work. Keep up the work!!!
im leaving the bolt in my ps pump and alternator, ac .. to avoid mixup or error reassymbling. its just safer for me. only need to move those things inward to remove the belts.
Thanks for the video, I just found a spectra5 5spd for $500 with a broken belt. I cant find a solid answer on whether or not it's an interference engine...
The steps of doing it started @ 9:55 of this video, I tried to get a better camera angle but not enough space, torque it to spec. Thank you for watching.
dont get the point of marking new timing belt. belt position is irrelevant, its the cam & crankshaft position thats crucial. plz try to make sense of marking new belt. is it to "feel" like its correct? seen others do this & it seems pointless.
Yup you can say marking new timing belt is pointless to you or to others but it’s gives me a piece of mind when installing it, just like when you installing new timing chain they have timing mark to guide you. Thanks for watching.
But ............ wouldnt it be easier .........to Install the new belt & just put a mark on it then? even iof the mark is off it shouldnt matter as long as the Cam & crankshaft are in time at tdc@@WrenchingRyan

my sister has a 07 Spectra and I still haven't found out either.
Not that it would help now, but if it's the same engine as the automatic, the betaII, it's an interference type.
You don’t show how u got the indicator in between center ?There are steps to doing it .how?and can u over tighten the timing belt ?
