You need to put score lines on parts you want to stick together, clay doesn’t want to stick to smooth surfaces. It also helps to make a slightly watered down clay mix to fill gaps and basically use as “glue” to join things. It’s quite easy if you know how but brain-meltingly agonising if you don’t. Amazing problem solving tho! And they turned out incredible!!!
I've tried mixing the clay with water to make details stick and it's incredibly difficult if you're working with a fluffy clay such as das. It just sticks together in lumps 😢 working with pottery clay is so much easier.
This works very well with regular clay, but not so much with air dry clay. I think they put paper and plastic in it so it makes it difficult to work with.
@@MagycArwen I just use PVC glue. I bought some bottles of Aleen's tacky glue, and I apply them to the wet pieces of clay I want to attach then smooth the seams. Seems to work just fine for me. And I use das too, so I understand what you mean
Fully agree! nothing needs to be perfect and it also gives us more motivation as throughout failure we get better and better. And i loved this project !
I'm really glad you showed all your process but also your struggle. I love seeing people working around problems and it makes me feel less alone in my frustration haha! This is so cute and original, I will try to do one for myself but maybe with a bunny as a knob, thank you for the inspiration!
I really like how you showed all the failed attempts instead of editing those parts out and trying to make it look like it turns out perfect at one go. As a crafter I face such issues too and get disheartened at times...but looking at this made me realise it's alright and very normal to face them :) and even to learn from those mistakes! The outcome looks super cute! :)
Such an amazing clay creation. I really love the way you choose the colours and patterns. Would love to see more clay project like this. Thank you for this video. Your videos are therapeutic and satisfying to watch.
For the your original plan on making the body of the trinket box, when I took ceramics my ceramics professor said to cut the smaller sides of the rectangle in a 45 degree angle so the sides kinda overlap each other when you bring them together. This way it would attach better. I'm not sure I made any sense. XD
As she was showing her failures and then moving on to the glass technique the song was going “let’s keep it siimmppplleee” I LAUGHED so hard when I heard it 🤣🤣🤣
As many others have said, I love the fact that you showed your other attempts as well! I think it really helps to see your process and they turned out so great!
I have these supplies at home and am excited to do this. Loving the beautiful jewel tones that you use. Even if I didn't know who's video this was I would know immediately after seeing the colors used. Such a beautiful style. I would love to see more clay projects thank you for sharing your creativity!!
I loved the entire video and can't take my eyes off the amazing cute handpainted illustrations on those cute trinkets. I love the way you have documented all your failed attempts and "I nailed it" moments of the whole process. Amazing work !!
I’ve seen others comment this already, but to get pieces of clay to stick together, it’s easier to score the area you want the piece to go onto (and the piece itself) with something sharp, and then add slip to it. “Slip” is just a mixture of water and used crushed up clay. It acts as glue.
You know what I love about you my dear, besides your fabulous art, your honesty. To see that you had to put plan B into action, shows me that it doesn't always work perfectly the first time. Thank you my dear. I just love your art. Sherie Rodrigues from Australia
I love the way you show the failed experiments and also step-by-step solutions ^^ It’s so satisfying to see problems created and solved like how your train of thought would normally go. If you hadn’t shown the experiments and just posted the perfect result, I’d have made the same mistakes just to see what the result would be 😂 Thank you very much for the video, both the process and the lovely result are greatly appreciated!
This is insanely pretty! 🖤 It reminded me of Fanngora’s work, a local illustrator (I’m from Monterrey, Mexico) she also makes cute stuff with pretty patterns and colors, she also works with clay, one of my birthday gifts this year was a clay puppet inspired in my cat. Watching your video made me smile like when that gift was given to me on that day, beautiful work 🖤
When I saw thumbnail without reading the title I thought you will paint a ready made copper plant tots or something and here I am amazed by your persistence on making clay work! So satisfying and cute! But also I can see myself thinking I know how to get needed consistency of let's say gouache and for some reason I pour too much water and it get so streaky! But sometimes it's just gives work it's uniqueness :) Great job, cute cats❤
Thank you so much! Yes i do struggle a lot with making things work but i persistence is key. I don't add a lot of water to my gouache , just enough so it's somewhat easy to work with.
Make your own spinning table for a couple dollars. Go to your dollar store & pick up a pack of stove burner covers (they come with 1 smaller & 1 larger) & a bag of marbles. Fill the smaller burner cover with the marbles, set the larger one facing down on top of it. Easy peasy & really inexpensive. More $ left for paints!
Wow, the result is just amazing! I love the colour combination. I never thought the red on the inside would match, but hell yes it looked amazing! Well done!
You have no idea how much I needed this. Those things are so beautiful. And I loved the honesty. I liked how you showed us the crucial parts too. And your painting skills are awesome.
Really love your video. And your music choices are wonderful. So glad our showed us the fail and try again as well as the lovely end result. Thank you. I'm a beginner and this was inspiring.
I normally never have anything but surprisingly I DO have air dry clay! I'm super happy and excited right now! I'm definitely going to try. It's a bit rainy here, but I hope it'll dry well enough! Thank you so much for sharing this 💙
Thank you! I am really curious what you will make out of your air dry clay :D Do send me a picture if you are able to. I would love to see what you create
The part where you put plastic kitchen wrap was brilliant! Thank you so much for that tip, I was looking for a solution for the clay sticking to the glass issue. Thank you!
Love these! I just bought some air dry clay to entertain myself a bit longer through this pandemic... I have been attempting new crafts, arts, and sewing projects for the last year. I'm thinking working with clay will be very therapeutic. Thank you for showing the reality of it all.
These are so cute. Very boho. Love love love! I love how they are not "perfect"...but they ARE perfectly imperfect. You know what I mean? ❤ love your channel. Just found you and have been binge watching your videos. Keep 'em coming and thanks for the inspiration.
It’s so great that no matter the medium you have your own distinctive style! These turned out so cute! By the way, why did you use gesso? As a sealant?
Thank you so much! I used gesso as a base. The paint goes on easier on the clay and prevents the clay from turning yellow from the varnish. It's not necessary to use it but i quite like it.
I know this video was posted quite some time ago but a cheap spinning wheel alternative could be a dollar store lazy Susan in the kitchen section for when you paint. Nice designs!
I don't really have a problem with brush markings. I use acrylic gouache for painting my clay creation and I find it dries very opaque with very little strokes. I guess it depends on the paint you are using
I don't think i would. Air dry clay is made more for jewelry and small things like trinkets. More on the hobby side. For vases i think you should use pottery clay. It's the most durable and probably just easier to work with :D
I don't know if u eve thought of it but about the spinning table, u could use those bakers use to decorate cakes, i have one and it's easier!! amazing work!! i liked the rawness of the video, sometimes i'm also very frustrated because it wont go my way but sometimes, it goes to a whole different but still beautiful mess :3
I love the final result 🖤 so much effort pays off 😻 thank you for sharing this I wanna do something like this but I'm scared to messed up but this video motivated me to finally start
These are gorgeous, and you took so much care and effort to decorate and mould them. 😍 I was looking for tips on crafting with air dry clay again after having to focus on school work for a few years- I was definitely not disappointed to find your channel😊
Those are so cute! I’m just learning to work with air dry clay. I notice the clay stick to glass too much when I want to roll out my clay. Do you use a plastic Matt so it won’t stick?
I use one of those cutting boards to roll it out on. It does stick a bit to that but nothing too bad. I can usually work pretty well on those . So maybe use a plastic or silicone matt if you can get your hands on one :D
This is too cute 😍😍😍I'll definitely try making one 😁😊 Thank you for all your effort and for showing what worked and what didn't. Really appreciate that!! 👍

I appreciate you showed your attempts that did not go as planned, and I love you choice of color combination!!
Yup. There were a few attempts :))) i figured people would like to see that not everything goes according to plans
I like that approach

Yes I like to show that not everything is perfect! Especially when filming. Thank you for your comment :D. I really appreciate it!
I like it. They don’t have to perfect because they are hand made.
Thank you! I agree ❤️
cat head knobs are so cute! 💖
They really are
Such an amazing clay creation. I really love the way you choose the colours and patterns. Would love to see more clay project like this. Thank you for this video. Your videos are therapeutic and satisfying to watch.
thank you so much for your comment :D Really happy to hear you like watching my videos :D
I love the inside color choice. That element made it ‘pop’ and really brought everything together.
Thank you so much! :D

hmmm haven't thought of that :D Thank for sharing your tip. I will try it!
So cute!! Thank you for showing the failures part, somewhat it motivates me to not give up easily
Thank you so much! Glad you found those useful also :D
I love the trial and error sequences of your videos
Thank you! :D
Those teals and gold are lovely
Thank you so much! 💖
Maybe you could use a "lazy susan" as your spinny table? Ikea, Walmart or any kitchen supply store would have them. 💖
I actually did buy a lazy susan from filming this video :D it works great!
I really appreciate that you showed all your fails and then how you finally got what you wanted. VERY HELPFUL! And I adore the leaf design.
Thank you Angela! I think it's more helpful to show fails sometimes and also a good motivation to keep going :D
This just gave me the best idea for Christmas gifts 💕
I'm so glad! :D
As she was showing her failures and then moving on to the glass technique the song was going “let’s keep it siimmppplleee” I LAUGHED so hard when I heard it 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks so much! 😊Glad I could be that reminder :D
You drew the leaves as if you were drawing with a pencil and not a brush, so amazing 👌🏼
Thank you so much 😀
Wow..
Amazing craft idea. And specially I love. The colour theam. You are really talented 👍👍👍stay connected friend
Thank you so much for your lovely comment :D

i have never done anything with air dry clays before and now after watching your videos, i really want to!!!! it's so so so so pretty!!!!

Thank you for this helpful tutorial. But can I use ceramic clay instead?
Yes you can! Even better. But I think you would need a kiln . That 's why prefer air dry clay because I don't have a place for firing up the ceramics
Beautiful work!
Thank you so much!
I really liked the making of the lid.

would you recommend air dry clay for a vase? i've always wanted to make a bulbasaur pot but i'm not sure what material i should use
I don't think i would. Air dry clay is made more for jewelry and small things like trinkets. More on the hobby side. For vases i think you should use pottery clay. It's the most durable and probably just easier to work with :D

Thank you ! :D
So to recap: what is the best way to do this? I love how they turned out specially the colors but with the high speed video I kind of missed what was the most successful approach.
sorry for the high speed. Basically you make your shape around a cup you have in your home. Make sure you put some plastic wrap in between the cup and your air dry clay for easier removal. Then you let it dry for 24-48 hrs. Once it's dry you sand it down and paint it with acrylic or gouache. If you are using gouache make sure you use a gouache gloss varnish if not the paint will be disturbed. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Awesome👍👍👍👍
Thanks 🤗
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Hey !! It's soo beautiful 😍😍...I just wanna know if you took the lower part ( the main blow) out of the glass after it was dried or just after moulding it around the plastic ? Thankss..
I took it out when it was half dry. Air dry clay tends to shrink a bit when drying so it's best to take it out before it is fully dry :D
@@AncaPoraIllustration hey thanks 😊
