I use a baking rack for my air dry clay friendos. As long as the clay on the bottom isn’t too wet, it doesn’t get the grid indentations. So I keep it on the parchment paper I used to make it for a couple hours so it can firm up and transfer it to the baking rack so it can get airflow all the way around. And then I use foil to bulk out any of the items I’m working on that are more than a half inch thick. This helps drying time to be no longer than 2 days in most items.
WARNING (to anyone who wants to try this): Please research resin safety before using it. Resin requires the use of safety equipment, as far as I know. Also, for sure wear gloves whenever you're using UV lamps.
@@onyxxxyno It didn't mean this person didn't made research, it could exactly mean that she exactly made research about it. Gloves should always be used when handling resin in general, not just when UV lamps are involved. Ventilation is also important and a respirator is always good just to be safe (definitely required depending on the space or total exposure to the fumes and the strength of the respirator varies,) and if you're particularly clumsy, have sensitive eyes, or need to sand anything goggles would be handy. Always make sure you keep supplies nearby to clean up in case of spills. You should also avoid pointing the UV light towards your face and eyes like we see in the video and should probably keep your hands out from under it, moreso because it's unnecessary to have them under there or move the lamp itself around but there's also potential to damage your vision at least temporarily if you look at the light. TH-cam's got plenty of stuff about resin safety and the potential hazards involved (such as epoxy poisoning from the fumes,) and of course always read the label before deciding on the product.
heyy nia!! so i just wanted to thank you for all the tutorials you post, its really so great to be learning to paint by someone as good as you. i'm a highschool student and my parents aren't really big fans of me doing art (I'm from india :) ) so i cannot buy art courses, but your videos have been so helpful. I've been following them since a year and i can now create my own pieces from a reference photo and honestly thats something i always wished for. thank you so much nia, for everything. P.S the ducks are very cute
I love that you share different ventures with us! It's so refreshing to find new ways to use watercolors and learn about other art techniques and outlets! Thank you for sharing 💕
Oh my my, great idea and great technique. I have been wanting to do this kind of ceramic looking items and I had no clue that this could be the way of achieving that look. Great, great and great. Thank you for sharing this idea. Loads of love and light and namaste 🙏 from 🇮🇳 India.
This was so relatable. For sometime now I've been looking at chopstick rests to be used as brush rests but they are so expensive so I've been thinking of diying some for myself. I've been looking for designs and these look adorable. ❤❤ PS : resin gets absorbed easily in skin so wear gloves and a mask if you use a UV lamp to harden it for the fumes. Other than that resin is self leveling so let it rest a min or so before you harden it, it'll prevent or atleast decrease the clumpy look.
These are adorable and look made of clay. Thank you! I'll definitely try, although the resin I have seems impossible to cure. Last time I tried it took like 10 minutes!
Absolutely marvelous creations. I have not used air dry clay, even though I have an unopened package. I love resin, uv or 2 part. I definitely must try this. Thanks so much for sharing this idea🥰👩🎨🎨
i absolutely LOVE this kind of video! its so fresh coming from you, and i've been looking for a brush rest too and this is just perfect for me as i loove air dry clay too
Super cute😍🤩... I wanted to make a brush holder from air dry clay but didn't know how and with what to glaze it. I also would love to see you make a ceramic palette 🙏 of course if you want and have time for it 💓
It’s best to use acetone when it’s in brushes as it dissolves it more easily when it isn’t cured. But even if it has, it will break it down to be usable again. Alcohol won’t do much. Idk how well it works on expensive brushes with non-synthetic hairs and I mean as in will it go back to the same quality. I’m not sure.
This is so beautiful 😍 I love drawings and paintings I'm trying to get even better by watching you Thank you so muchhh!!! For these awesome video's I'm really great full to find you :D and the clay animal is so Cuteeee thank you again!
Could you explain what you did to rid the white duck of the gray spot that showed up under the wing while you were putting the resin on it? Thank you for helping me understand how to do this kind of art!
I recommend using a silicone brush to move the uv resin around on the clay. ❤ and uv resin is not as dangerous as epoxy resin, which you must wear a mask with and gloves. UV resin, you do not have to but can if you would like. But with the UV Lamp, please refrain from looking directly into the light, the uv rays hurt our eyes, just like how we shouldn’t be looking into the sun. 😅
There are acrylic glazes you can use but after a while they turn a bit sticky, which is why I much prefer resin. Or u cn also leave it bare, but it won't be waterproof
Your method of making a duck is the best because it is a little tricky to make it but you made it so easy and I also tried it was a blast seeing your video and it is so nice it is very helpful guys and your Lily pad is the best and where did you make that thing so Shiny please can you tell me what is that
These came out so lovely. Just a question- can the ducks be just coloured and left without resin or is it absolutely necessary? Thanks a lot for the tutorial, you are awesome and your channel is very inspiring!
I'm not too sure of the effects of the watercolor without glaze. But acrylics should have the same finish as if you paint on canvas. Resin basically makes the ducks waterproof and glossy.
I think you'd need to put porcelain in the kiln to harden it completely... Unless you're talking about something like homemade cold porcelain, which is completely different
You can use silicon brushes for resin and also there is resin cleaner. Please be sure to use a mask and eye protection as resin fumes are injurious to health. But with a respirator and eye protected and a well-ventilated area, you will be fine!
I'm not sure if you can use watercolor with polymer clay (I've never tried), but I think you can use acrylic instead to paint polymer once it's dry, then glaze with resin.
I have an automatic lamp that turns off every 30 seconds and I placed it under the lamp around 3 times. Mine is fairly weak though, so this depends on your lamp as well as how thick you apply each layer of resin..
Nice tip! I'm kind of allergic to my own sweat though, so I usually have to use cotton gloves underneath, which makes moving my fingers a bit hard with the double layer. The resin is sticky.. so if I want to take off my gloves and put it back on I find that it would be bothersome. But Yes, I think this would be useful for those who doesn't have allergies like me :)
Yeiho brand resin and saviland are my best resins when I make glow in the dark stuff the smell from the one your using is too strong for me and gave me a headache I use that very minimal.
Paper clay is super hard when it's dry, you would have to saturate it with water in order to reactivate it. As in, fully submerge the piece for a very long time.
@@wahfleenjoyer also safe! But if you're not sure, you can spray a coat or two of clear matte acrylic varnish on your piece before painting to seal the clay. I use citadel army painter and it works wonder.

Just take care using resin. Use gloves, use a mask when applying and also sanding. Happy and safe making 😁

E600 glue would hold that with the resin on. I've made a few pieces of jewelry and some other crafts as well as nails. Love those they are so cute!

Try cleaning your brush with acetone 🙂

Use acetone to clean the wet resin from the brush before the resin sets.
