A lot of people get scared at the thought of having a "recovery week" or in your case 2 weeks. They genuinely believe they will lose all their fitness when in reality, at worst you will likely just get some rust that will need 2-3 days to be shaken off. Reality is, every 3-5 months of consistent training, having a week off will do your body wonders and you'll return stronger.
Hang in there brother, you’ll look back after the race and be glad you put in the time. Everything comes to an end eventually! The vids are awesome, stay in the fight!
I just finished a 21-week plan for a 70.3 and went through something similar near the end. I realised I can only really do one cardio thing a day, two a day just didn't work with my schedule. Glad you're back at it!
@@ashtontris It was a mixed bag - the swim was amazing (although because of currents pretty much everyone did about 1k more...), the bike was flat and fast, but my stomach went on the run - too much liquid on the bike, I think - and the whole half-marathon became a test of stubbornness. Still, all lessons learnt for my next ironman next year. Love the content, it's really nice to see someone being honest about the realities of training for this sport :)
So glad to see you back! I'd checked to make sure I was subscribed! I think some of your burn out could definitely be because of the length of your training block- December was a LONG time ago! Georgia-based athlete, here, so I feel you with the humidity.
Don't worry about it literally had the same thing happen about 4 weeks ago. Following the same plan as you and this is ironman number 4 for me. Got to a point where I just hated all the workouts and started questioning why I was actually doing it. Took a week off and then use the workouts as a guide but no longer use them as law. Fair play for taking the time out your mental will appreciate it and can hopefully enjoy race day
Yes that’s what I’ve kind of been doing recently with the workouts. Mentally feel so much better when I give myself the flexibility to not do the workout to the exact T. Makes them a little more enjoyable for sure!
Oldest NY Dragon...we are in the opinion that considering your busy working life and other commitments u should focus on 70.3 races, which seeing your amount of weekly training are of perfect reach 4u and u don't risk making an idiot of yourself or even getting injured by trying a full Ironman,70.3 races are very popular for daily working Tri people because they don't require the insane training hours of a full Ironman...believe us.
Kind of laughing to myself at how much you’re enjoying outside and I was a little….. perturbed by the heat and humidity “feels like” getting to mid 90s am. Yeah it’s summer all right Good that you rested a bit. Often the body knows better than we give it credit for
How did you feel when you came back after 2 weeks off? I ask cause I just did the same due to a bike accident. I was wondering if you felt like you lost some ground (fitness) thanks. Hope you’re killing it.
to my knowledge most trainings should not be exhaustive. do you know your threshold levels and train according to them? if not, overtraining can happen veeeeery quickly.

Was actually worried about you. It happens bro. I'm glad you're back in the horse. Can't wait to see you back in action. I believe in your greatness !
the comeback will be greater than the setback! good to see you back
Good to see you back man. I’ve had a knee injury (nothing major) that’s stuffed my routine the last week for my 70.3, but gotta hang in there.

Hot areas are rough. In AZ it's 90 by 8am right now. I try to start long rides at 5
Had a big bug fly into my mouth on a ride two weeks ago, been a nose breather ever since.
Good to see you fresh and happy to be back to training!
It’s the worst!! Lol

When you are missing nutrition for long rides. Just use flavored salt tablets and as much sugar as you need
