    Great review! Would you say its loud enough for gigging? And could you get the clean tonw by rolling of guitar in a live setting?

    Great amp. You really bring out all it can do, and great playing as usual. . I've had one for a couple years and it's a keeper. I also have the Tweed 20. A one trick pony mostly with just a volume, tone and high cut switch, but gorgeous tones and better than other 5E3's I've tried without all the fussiness of multiple inputs and volume controls. You should try it!

    That Morgan sounds great and the power scale feature is really useful

    Holy crap dude!! Your guitar tone!! It was so amazing!! Damn!! I honestly love your setup.. I’m still on a squier/epiphone and a few pedals with a Marshall TSL60 but damn man!! I think you have definitely given me something to aspire for.. I’m going to get a two notes torpedo captor X so I can play in the living room whilst my mum is sleeping (I’m only a few years younger than you) .. but thank you for making me want to save even more for the gear I dream of! When I can work!! Cheers!!

      Hey man, glad you like it! That Captor X will be great and give you lots of freedom to play 🤟🏼 keep on playing (and enjoying gear, of course!) Cheers

    Love this review. This amp is on my last list of two to get next. Thanks

    Overall the structure of your review has been great, but would you agree that you might just be kind of averse to using the bridge pickup on that telecaster? In my mind, cycling through the pickups with the various tones would have given us a bit more insight as to how the amp reacts to the hotter bridge pickup alone, as well as the middle and neck positions which you seem to favour. Not necessarily disliking your approach, but I think that, objectively speaking, a significant number of tele players tend to favour the bridge pickup, and would have liked to hear more of the bridge pickup working with the amp both clean, using the amp's natural breakup, as well as via the pedals.

    Where did you get your Austin Pride? I just ordered one and it's a 3 year waiting list. Ah!

    • @JamesOnGuitar
      @JamesOnGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh god! (I wonder if that is my fault 🤣 i joke) it was an 18 mnth list when i ordered but after about 6 months or so Dan emailed me to say a certain shop was getting a couple in, and I ordered from them right then!! I expect with the high level of gear purchasing at the moment, he is going to struggle getting that list down!

    May be selling mine. Not my cup of tea I found out. It dont take pedals good at all, so if you are the kind of person who wants to mostly play off the clean channel, and use your pedals for distortion, fuzz, grit, overdrive. Its not for you. Its not for jazz/fusion type of stuff. What I play alot of, but thats just what I do mostly, but for someone else with other styles, it may work for them. Does rock and blues quite well actually. Match with a good cab, like a Two Rock and you got yourself a great little blues rig.

    Nice amp indeed!

  • @rodrigopolicarpo8377

    I reckon that for home use you're just better off using a good pair of headphones with the OX, especially if you live in a flat and spend all day at work and can only play at night. The OX (or similar) is hands down the most useful piece of gear I own because without it I could never plug in to my amps.

    • @JamesOnGuitar
      @JamesOnGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I can see that being a good idea for many, too! It depends on whether you can make no noise or some noise and then if you want to play at different size venues etc. Without carrying as much gear

    I dont get it. Isnt the "power level" there exactly so you dont have to use external attenuator? It limits the signal from power tubes to the speaker.

    • @JamesOnGuitar
      @JamesOnGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don’t have to use an external attenuator - in my case i have one and found it slightly better in this case

  • @mikeaustin4138
    @mikeaustin4138 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm looking for a "boutique" amp with built-in power scaling (attenuation). I am seriously considering a Carr - Skylark, Mercury V, or Super Bee. However, I recently became more aware of Morgans' offerings. None of the Morgan demos sound as good as the Carr amps, especially the clean tones. The best Morgan clean tones to my ear is the MVP66. The Carr's are more expensive. Your thoughts appreciated, especially if you've played both Carr and Morgan amps.

    • @JamesOnGuitar
      @JamesOnGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question! Unfortunately i haven’t tried any Carr amps but they seem to have a great personality when i hear them (especially on emerald city guitars channel)… have fun choosing 🤟🏼

      Mike, I’ve been through loads of amps, Vox, Orange, Marshall H.W. Bluesbreaker, Fender PR, Friedman , HK. Morgan’s are just stunning the AC20 Deluxe andMVP are just wonderful I have them both and a Friedman Dirty Shirley 40. At very low volumes the AC has the better clean sound the MVP a little flat, but wind up the MVP and it sings and the volume gain are really interactive. I would say try one out you won’t be disappointed. The other thing is The MVP takes pedals really well.
