  • The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) aims to flatten Okhla and Bhalswa landfills by Dec 2023, and Ghazipur by March 2024. G20 has led to calls to finish Okhla work by September and work has started on a war-footing with tenders being awarded to three companies to trommel the 203 lakh metric tonne of legacy waste. Watch #ThePrintGroundReport by Sukriti Vats to know what does this massive exercise entails.

you understand they are just taking this waste and burning it or putting it under roads or in verges or even using it as fertiliser? The toxic pollutants will be there in the smoke and in the ash, will be there under the road or verge or possibly in any food grown with that fertiliser. It is not a good job that they are doing. It is a sham process.

I hope these things are done in large scale consistently across India.
We need the main stream media to be bringing these things to news

this is not good practice, it is just greenwashing, landfill waste is being taken from mountains, burned, or used as road fill and even fertiliser, highly incompetent approach to swm

MCD give tenders to contractors and once the work is done they don't pay dues to the contractors! It's been stuck in this limbo for ages now that the contractors get the job done and then their money get stuck.

That was MCD under BJP, which ruled MCD for 15 years -- who refused to even pay street cleaners. We'll see how MCD is run under AAP now.

Many many thanks to recycling wastes based companies like Greentech. All cities in India have waste dumping problem. These companies will bring major changes. 🙏🙏

nope, it is a sham process that does nothing to clean or safely dispose of the garbage, they are just segregating and spreading it around the city and they claim no pollutants are in it. India must be only country in the world where garbage contains no pollutants besides organic waste.
