WARNING: I have tried using BOTH of the Samsung laser projectors in my theatre with a CLR3 screen and dark matte walls and BOTH absolutely have the rainbow effect. The LSP7T rainbow effect is wide and chunky and very noticeable in dark scenes with bright spots (think a dark room scene with some bright white objects) and in the dark mode-style menu. The LSP9T rainbow effect is tighter and softer, but absolutely still there. It's still very noticeable with black on white scenes and UI menus, and just as noticable as the LSP7T--maybe more so, as I noticed it more on the 9T in dark brown scenes (think the new Dune movie) with bright objects. It's a plague. The absence of a color wheel and triple lasers DOES NOT solve the problem. Sadly, besides that, it's a great projector. If they had solved that and done 120hz refresh, the 9Twould have been The One. I'd skip both these models--maybe skip DLP laser projectors entirely.
So Chris, when comparing these projects as A/B/C you must be using the same screen. Please publish the make model of screen along with the projector as it is as important, if not more important than the projector itself. There is a massive difference between a painted wall, a sheet, a Dal-ite and of course Stewart (FireHawk). I started many moons ago with sheet hanging down and a Viewsonic 1024x768 computer projector. I very quickly realized that the screen was the key. Painted the wall with "projector paint", then I bought a 108" Steward FireHawk (silver-grey for the basement) and the difference was night and day. I'm no on my second Epson projector (just replaced a bulb after 4755 hours) and just love the picture. I'd love to try out one of these laser projectors with my Stewart screen. In case anyone does not know, Stewart custom make the screens for cinemas in California. Perhaps for ease of use, that portable screen would be a good all around screen to use when comparing projectors to keep them all on the same playing field. Also consider that the room lighting, and ambient exterior light will all play a difference when comparing these laser projectors. Finally, I'm hoping there is a non-nonsense 4k (or 8K) laser project coming out, that just gives me an hdmi input as I use my Surround receiver for the source including apple tv, Ti-Vo on my cable box and other Android boxes. Thanks for the great review. Cheers Nicholas

Good review as usual. I admit, I'm still stuck on the BenQ V7050i. It's hard to beat what you get for the price even though it's not considered in this class of UST's. I cringe at that price point let alone this one at over $6,500.
@@ChrisMajestic I'm so curious how the BenQ V7050i matches up. I have that one and I'm expecting to get the Hisense L9G in for review soon. I've never tried a tri-laser.

I’m still happy I purchased the 5050UB since the time I first started watching your channel. Color accuracy and black levels (contrast) clearly seem to be more important than sharpness and all the other features these UST projectors have
Can someone help me understand the use case for one of these things? I can see not wanting a TV in a space and therefore using a projector on a wall. But if you're going to need a screen to project on to that essentially requires the same amount of space as a tv, wouldn't just getting a 4k TV be more cost effective, and also win in every image and performance category too? Am I missing something??

Thanks for the review. Your reviews definitely strike the best balance between various reviewers where the range can be low detail to overly detailed (ie. it looks awesome and good to my eye versus diving into detail on contrast, lag, specular highlighting, judder and tone mapping. Glad to say that it holds its own to the Hisense L9G so I’ll be keeping my Samsung since it remains in a light controlled room versus a room flooded with ambient light sources. I am still impressed that the newer 0.47 DLP chipsets used in the Hisense L9G can compete with the higher resolution 0.66 DLP chipset utilized in the Samsung ls9Pt with regards to sharpness and edge detail.
Question: Can you use this on a wall? I know you have this blank screen that Samsung offers. But I would rather do without this screen. I can just paint the wall in my home a powder color and there is my screen for projection? Seems a bit steep on the price at $6500 as it does not have full hd clarity in full room lighting. That is a used car payment.
For that price I'd expect nearly perfect colours out the box! Maybe when doing the comparison between USTs you could give each a score out of 10 for colour... Black levels... Etc

By any chance do you have any plans on doing a review for the xgimi aura projector.I'm thinking of getting this one but would really appreciate your opinion on it first.
Hey Chris, I got this LSP9T projector few days ago and wondering what exact screen type should I go for it? I am looking for a Fixed screen to the wall in my basement where there is not much light as it is a closed environment. Since you have posted this video there might have been many innovations on the screen options and also in budget options. My budget is below$500 for a screen and planning for the maximum screen usage of 130". Please share at least couple of good screen options which can give me the best picture Quality for 130". Appreciate your efforts and help in enlightening us with a very detailed review on you chosen topics. You are always the best Chris. Thx again.
Chris, great review. However, I am leaning away from the LSP9T, and towards the Vava Chroma. The reason, is that this is Samsung's first generation laser tv, and we know, that is if we have been paying attention, that most companies second generation products tend to be better. I'll bet that the next LSP9T, will, for example, come in black, and have better picture enhancements, like what we have seen from BenQ, and are about to see from Vava.
I didn't notice any issues with judder or 24fps content. It handled it like most 4k DLPs. If you're the type of person who likes frame interpolation then I can't speak on that as I absolutely despise it.
ahh This one is about $1,000 more than the Hisense in price and doesn't include the screen like the l9g does... What I like about it though is the flexibility it gives me with the awesome short throw distance and the ability to change the focus in the future... You freaked me out with the talk of speckle and eARK not working... How did those two compare to the Hisense?? If you had to choose one, what would it be?
That's crazy you're not able to see the rainbow effect. For me, on anything with white by dark (subtitles especially), any movement with my eyes I see a trailing shimmer. If you stare, it's less pronounced, but that's impossible if you're reading text or tracking movement :(
I own the LSP9T and the only con so far that I have noticed is the earc passthrough that supposedly plague alot of Samsung TV's also. The only way I can watch HDR10+ movies is to connect my source straight to the projector and then use the earc to pass Atmos to my receiver. But the projector does not passthrough the Atmos soundtrack to the receiver. The passthrough option is always grayed out. Only way it passes the uncompressed audio to my receiver is with the built-in apps, not with an outside source
@@gamingfunfacts I dont have a problem passing Atmos to the LSP9T thru my Nvidia Shield. But the Shield does not support HDR10+. So if I ripped an HDR10+ movie and play it straight on the LSP9T it plays the HDR10+ movie but it wont pass the uncompressed audio file to my receiver.
@@macho9556 Ah ok. Then probably the Samsung mediaplayer does not support Dolby Atmos. That is not surprising to me. I think that is a very special use case you have here. I am quite sure if you play the HDR10+ movie from a UHD player from its Disc it will work with Atmos pass through.
@@macho9556 I agree, but I assume the developer of this mediaplayer did not implement it. I am also not sure if other media players included in other projectors or even TVs would pass Atmos from a file to a receiver.
Chris, I bought one based on your review. Your review was so helpful and clear. Geeky (yes and as it should be to some extent) but without losing the audience in a flurry of geekery. So far an amazing product. One concern I had was the dark colors in daylight (as you also had pointed out) and the laser gremnlins. Dark colors are tolerable in daylight; laser gremlins not noticeable since we are watching from a decent distance. One thing i noticed was that the picture can take a few minutes to adjust for clarity - probably a function of wireless. Thanks again for the review. You have a life time fan now.
Yep laser speckle is a thing. I own the LG HU85LA and especially if you have big areas in yellow-red colors you have a lot of that. I only startet noticing it in cinemas with LAse rPRojectors after I bought the Laser TV ^^
I'm a little confused, I just went to Amazon and this model is listed for $3899 for model LSP9TFAXZA and it has 2 choices 120" or 130". Is this for an older model? I can't believe it would drop that much in price since this review.
I'm just wondering, how do you consider not being able to get Atmos to your receiver from those apps not a big deal? To me that seems like a huge deal and would be stop me buying this projector! I would be using a Chromecast with Google TV Dongle on this anyway, I wonder if that would get past this issue?
I purchased the Samsung LSP9T. I projected the image on an ALR XY SCREEN of 120 inches. I could not get the projector to focus the image. The cable tv image was horrible. The 4K movie image was much better but still not as sharp as I thought it would be. I had the projector the correct distance from the wall and the keystone was spot on. I was connected to the projector through the HDMI eARC. Do you have any idea what the issue could be other than a faulty projector? Thanks
I've owned the LSP9T for a few months now and it's been fantastic. I don't have focus issues, but I did see in the AVSForums someone mention an issue with the focus and having to replace it.
Thanks for a long awaited review! After waiting a year for this review..Im leaning towards the Hisense for a few reasons, Gaming lag, Physical Black colour and better price. However Samsung's better colours, throw ratio and larger screen are making it hard. Looking forward to the comparison. Thanks again!
Get the Samsung ,Chris is genuine ,but there was one guy who I thought was genuine ,he did the Samsung freestyle ,talked a lot of tripe how it was a great buy and quality picture ,he never had it bigger than 40 inch picture ,he's dishonest if any one pays £1000 for that crap it's a con ,but Samsung did supply ,the Samsung premier is light years ahead of freestyle I just hope people are no daft , they can have my old benq w 2000 that leaves the freestyle standing
How’s the vivid storm screen holding up with regular use ? I’ve heard bad things in terms if wrinkling and responses from the Chinese supplier along the lines of “ah well maybe keep the screen up all the time”

Hey Chris how long does it take to boot up? I have a 4k BenQ projector and it takes forever to boot up once turned on... so that's really important to me?
Nice video. It showed me that NO PROJECTOR can replace a tv. No matter the price. Samsung has a 4k 85inch QLED for much less of a cost. Mount it and voila. That's what I would do
Laser TV's would really benefit from some proper bias lighting but you'd need to place the screen and the projector further from the wall so you can fit a light behind it
Thank you so much. I have a projector in my living room and the last 10 years I’m using just projectors. So anywhere I go I recommend your videos to my friends to convince them, that the projector is better than the TV.
Hey chris im very torn on what projector to get under 1000 for gaming there so many to choose from im stuck between the benq ht2150st and the benq gt1080hdr cause of refresh rate and the epson ex 9220 and the viewsonic 4k projectors but i heard to stay away from viewsonic please help thanks man yout the big poppa when it comes to projector vids!
You're a great reviewer! What would you recommend for 4k movies? I'm all about image quality (sharpness, black level and uniformity) when it comes to projectors. Unfortunately, my budget is limited to 4000 dollars.
doesn't all projectors with an OS have airplay.? I tried my 285USD 1080P DLP projector from Fengmi/Wemax and was pleasantly surprised how crisp the stream was from my Ipad.. Looks like its native 1080p in airplay. thx for the video, solid
It's a piece of junk after the warranty worn out. Mines start putting spots on the screen before you know it. The spots cover the screen. Samsung said they will fix that for nineteen hundred dollars when it bought me at eighty five inch, and so now i'm happy
Is there a way to measure black levels? I'm almost ready to buy this projector, but would like to compare it to others. Most of my watching would be in a darkened room.
is there an option to adjust the screen vertical position pls? as my existing 100 projection screen is not at the exact height above my table based on the diagram in the menu.
When watching a darker show like Wednesday on Netflix, how is the dark contrast? I have the Samsung single laser version which is really bad for those dark images.
They need to make a small one that celing mounts without throwing the picture to the floor.. who needs audio on a 4k projector I'm sure the buyer can get a sound system from 200 to 5k if they wish. A little game performance wouldn't hurt either
Both have a very very similar image performance. LG has some advantages in the area of laser speckle, but some other small disadvantages. I like the overall picture of the LSP9T more, but its really really close.
Ho guy i wanna understand if with 4000 it’s better to buy the laser tv benQ or a normal projector? Is the quality similar or with that money i can buy a normal projector with a way better quality?
Hey hey Chris. I see you have the Def Tech center in your UST setup. Do you have any issues with it being so far below the screen? It's hard to tell but do you have it tilted up? Thanks for all the great content!
Hi Chris, I am in the market for a new TV, but i am also thinking of a projector. Would you recommend the Samsung LSP9T or the Epson LG500? I typically play FPS games or Sport Games and watch Netflix TV Shows. I am also currently using an OLED so I am torn because everyone says I should just get a larger TV and keep the quality. Any kind of recommendation would be appreciated! Thank you

You freaked me out with the talk of speckle and eARK not working... How did those two compare to the Hisense??
If you had to choose one, what would it be?
I’m still stuck on my Hisense L5 100inch I couldn’t justify that price point and you don’t get a screen lol . Thanks for the review as always 🙌🙌
Can I ask for the LG to be added to your head to head? It seems to have much staying power. My only hesitation is it’s lack of earc.
That's crazy you're not able to see the rainbow effect. For me, on anything with white by dark (subtitles especially), any movement with my eyes I see a trailing shimmer. If you stare, it's less pronounced, but that's impossible if you're reading text or tracking movement :(
Would you be better off with a CLR screen? I know, a bit slow on the pickup here but just looking for a projector for our new home
With an AppleTV I do not have any issues passing Dolby Atmos through the LSP9T. From what source are you passing? An UDH player?
@@gamingfunfacts I agree but if the lsp9t supports passthrough, it should just passthrough the audio to the receiver.
Nevertheless the LG HU85 has less laser speckle since it does not have a green laser…
@@gamingfunfacts Hmm thats probably true, but I mostly notice it with red-ish colors. in cinemas as well so, i don't know.
Your reviews are awesome! Will you be reviewing the jmgo u2 laser tv? Looks like a great value
How would this compare to Sony 4K projector any plans for videos?
Is the BenQ just out of the race at this point? Thats the one I really had my eyes on but you didn't mention it at all in the comparisons?
The Hisense has better color than the Samsung
@@ChrisMajestic oh really, that's good : )..I guess it just comes down to Throw Ratio and screen size..Look forward to the comparison review.
@@ChrisMajestic You should mention out of the box. With a proper calibration the Samsung can produce 100% accurate colors.
Proud of you man
Great review! Love this projector and I don't even use a screen with it so can't wait to get a screen too.
How’s the vivid storm screen holding up with regular use ? I’ve heard bad things in terms if wrinkling and responses from the Chinese supplier along the lines of “ah well maybe keep the screen up all the time”
Great review. Any advise on screen type for wall mounting above the screen vs on a table? Apparently ALR screens don't support this
Are you planning on doing a head to head comparison with this guy and lg’s HU85LA. I’m more fond of webOS and have never been a Samsung lover on the tv side, but I’m curious if I should have gotten this guy over LG.
Great review bruh
Can you do a review of Samsung's new 2024 Premiere Projector LPU9D?
Can u add cinema or 3rd party movie apps?
How do you feel about the LSP9T having reviewed the LS800 and the LG HU915QB?
Hi mate
Enjoyed your video i am stuck between
Benq 7050ti vs samsung lsp9t
I can get the 7050ti $2000 cheaper than the samsung lsp9t is it worth the extra money I don't mind
Just want to know how big the difference is
Hey Chris how long does it take to boot up? I have a 4k BenQ projector and it takes forever to boot up once turned on... so that's really important to me?
How does the picture quality of the LSP9 compare to the picture quality of the QN90 QLED TV? Would the QLED look better because of its panel?
I'm so keen for you to get your hands on the new 4k epson
Nice video. It showed me that NO PROJECTOR can replace a tv. No matter the price. Samsung has a 4k 85inch QLED for much less of a cost. Mount it and voila. That's what I would do
85 inches is a lot different from 100 inches. Would you take a 40 inch TV over a 55 inch?
85inches is even smaller compared to 120“ or 130“ what the LSP9T can do. A TV in that size costs multiple times the amount of what the LSP9T costs…
Laser TV's would really benefit from some proper bias lighting but you'd need to place the screen and the projector further from the wall so you can fit a light behind it
Hi Chris , great videos . Thank you for testing them. I liked the Benq because it has cover . Is Benq comparable with this samsung ?
Thank you so much. I have a projector in my living room and the last 10 years I’m using just projectors. So anywhere I go I recommend your videos to my friends to convince them, that the projector is better than the TV.
Hey chris im very torn on what projector to get under 1000 for gaming there so many to choose from im stuck between the benq ht2150st and the benq gt1080hdr cause of refresh rate and the epson ex 9220 and the viewsonic 4k projectors but i heard to stay away from viewsonic please help thanks man yout the big poppa when it comes to projector vids!
Oh and the benq 685 sorry
Great Review Chis, Though i got an ask. Can the projector be ceiling mounted? if so, kindly recommend some best mount kits
I would love to see Comparisons with different screens
You're a great reviewer! What would you recommend for 4k movies? I'm all about image quality (sharpness, black level and uniformity) when it comes to projectors. Unfortunately, my budget is limited to 4000 dollars.
doesn't all projectors with an OS have airplay.?
I tried my 285USD 1080P DLP projector from Fengmi/Wemax and was pleasantly surprised how crisp the stream was from my Ipad..
Looks like its native 1080p in airplay.
thx for the video, solid
I have the LSP9T and have no issues with passing Atmos through to my Sony HT A9.
From which apps. It worked fine for netflix but not plex or disney+
Hey! I use the Epson TW9400. Do you think, that the LSP9T would be a good upgrade?
It's a piece of junk after the warranty worn out. Mines start putting spots on the screen before you know it. The spots cover the screen. Samsung said they will fix that for nineteen hundred dollars when it bought me at eighty five inch, and so now i'm happy
Is there a way to measure black levels? I'm almost ready to buy this projector, but would like to compare it to others. Most of my watching would be in a darkened room.
is there an option to adjust the screen vertical position pls? as my existing 100 projection screen is not at the exact height above my table based on the diagram in the menu.
I'm seeing the LSP7T is on sale for $2499. Is this a no brainer?
When watching a darker show like Wednesday on Netflix, how is the dark contrast? I have the Samsung single laser version which is really bad for those dark images.
Do you recommend it now because I bought it for $3,000 and how many days are left for the return?
I am not very satisfied with it
Why do these companies insist on using white as the default color for home theater equipment?
Especially unfortunate in the case of a high gloss white projector in a dark room where you would think you would want to minimise light reflections.
Because that's what looks nice In a home ! 😄
Brighter colors make to room look more open and bigger
I have the opposite opinion black plastic is disgusting
Because majority of people’s walls are white?
What screen do you recommend for the lsp7t model which will be placed in a dark media room??
I wonder how that would compare to an OLED TV. From the video it didn't seem its quite there yet.
They need to make a small one that celing mounts without throwing the picture to the floor.. who needs audio on a 4k projector I'm sure the buyer can get a sound system from 200 to 5k if they wish. A little game performance wouldn't hurt either
What would you recommend for the best 130 inch ALR screen?
Compare with LG hu85la which one is better image quality and black level
Both have a very very similar image performance. LG has some advantages in the area of laser speckle, but some other small disadvantages. I like the overall picture of the LSP9T more, but its really really close.
So if running 24hrs a day approximately you will get 2.3 or so years of of the lamp
very helpful review
still I think it would be best to buy a NEO QLED TV as big as you can get for that price tho... much much better image quality
Great review
Ho guy i wanna understand if with 4000 it’s better to buy the laser tv benQ or a normal projector?
Is the quality similar or with that money i can buy a normal projector with a way better quality?
Not enough ansi lumen for that price, thanx for the video
Hey hey Chris. I see you have the Def Tech center in your UST setup. Do you have any issues with it being so far below the screen? It's hard to tell but do you have it tilted up?
Thanks for all the great content!
It works just fine. I did tilt it up at some point and it does help. I just haven't put the wedges back under it.
Thank you
