Totally Magnificent Traditional Stone Room Restoration and Using Reclaimed Tomette Tiles

- Here I am renovating my rear bedroom / downstairs office and soon to be incorporated shower room. The tomette tiles are reclaimed from the upstairs section of the 300 year old French farmhouse. Some of the tomette tiles need a clean using a wire brush as I decided part way through the tiling process to clean each tile by hand. Once I have cleaned the remaining few tomette tiles so they kind of match I will seal them and then grout the gaps.
Then it’s on to doing the window cill and fitting a shower room at one end of this room.
Beautiful work. Long hard hours. I would have used a self leveling floor base for the tiles
Beautiful results ❤
Thank you and please keep watching
Beautiful, but worried about your dog breathing in all that dust.
I really enjoyed this video probably because I would have been involved in the same sort of project when I was able but I look forward hopefully for more like this so I hope this room is one of many thanks for sharing and well done.
Great job!!👍🙂
Wow that looks amazing ❤
Great job, like your dog 🐕🦺👍
Interesting well done Alistair..Reminds me 20yrs ago doing exactly the same thing on my mums property Sw France dordogne. Mum had a beautiful stone railway cottage.
Hard work raking out endless repointing yet very rewarding. Great work Mr 🙏
Top job gratulation❤
great work ,well done
Thanks from Kiev

Beautiful renocation. I prefer the ceiling in apparent wood though
Beautiful! The antique tiles look like they have been there for 200 years
Yeah that was the general idea to remove them from one part of the building and reclaim as many as possible to create another beautiful floor that didn’t look modern when completed
Good job
Very skilled job done, and a beautiful result!
Hi from Denmark 🇩🇰
You’ve done a magnificent job! Such a pleasure to look at the result.
Rústico e bonito. Parabéns! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
What a hell of a job, and what an awesome result!
Bonito bonito
very good video to watch
Gyönyörű lett!
Beautiful finish. Definitely something that I will try to recreate in the future. Congrats on your renovation
Cracking job, well done. Pointing looks great & floor will too when grouted.
Excellent work. Ignore these back seat drivers
Thank you and I have been in construction too long to pay any attention to them and once again Thanks and keep watching
Bravo
beau travail
Very nicely done, just one mistake, l think, you have left the floor as just plain cement, not tiled, just painted white or some other colour.
But nevertheless nice job, well done 👍
Beautiful ❤
Thank you and please keep watching
👍👍👍😎
❤❤❤❤👏👏👏👍

I have undertook the same process and it wasn’t an easy task. Listen pointing the bricks after showcasing the roughness
Of the character of the bricks. Good job mister.
The Stonework is beautiful if you take the time to clean it and repoint all the joints with Lime Mortar. Removing the decayed moisture retentive old plaster and pointing makes the house drier and more beautiful filled with old character and well worth the effort
Do you have to grout the floor? What are you mixing up for the pointing on the walls?
Hello and yes I need to grout the tomette tiled floor and for the pointing I am using traditional lime mortar mixed at a ratio of 3 to 1 lime
Wow. 20 minutes into the video and after incredibly repetitive stonework we really get to see the tiles….😂
Yeah it’s very repetitive especially working on your own and hard work. Thanks for the compliment and please keep watching
Tou have no electricity in the room, why did you not put it in the floor first & come up between the stone, then put the cement between the stones & then put the floor down
it seems that you forgot to randomize the different colour tiles before you started. Rookie mistake.
On ne voit plus la pierre ! 😮
Dusty work
