Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock 'n roll band of all time. Emma, your right on about the "bluesy" sound of Zepp. They do many songs that are blues rock.
Hear Robert speaking voice, you’d never guess he has such range power tone & texture, to sing like that. He uses his vocals perfect for each song. Thank you & much more Led Zeppelin PLEASE!
Oh my God, I loved this reaction. ❤ you are so in touch with what is going on. So many people don’t get what Led Zeppelin is doing on the first listen. I don’t think any rock singer uses his voice as another instrument like Plant
What a pleasure, watching Emma rock along and drop in some pearls of wisdom about how Robert Plant hit his notes with such force and energy; Led Zeppelin, one of the best Music Bands in history, and at this time we were spoiled with other great Bands like Deep Purple or Pink Floyd also on the go; Favourite Led Zeppelin song out of many switches between Fool in the Rain or All my Love; It will certainly be fun to see what Rock Bands Emma may cover next; Emma also manages to be ever more beautiful with each passing day. 🦅🦅🦅🥰😍🥰🤟👏👍🎶🎵🎶🎙🎧🍁💐💐🦅.
Hi Emma. So glad you chose the studio version of the song. As usual, the sound quality is so much better than the live versions and you can hear all the musicians at their best, all the nuances in the vocals, etc. This is actually an adaptation of Muddy Waters/Willie Dixon "You Need Love" (1962). The British band The Small Faces did a cover in 1966 called "You Need Loving" which greatly influenced Led Zeppelin's song. Robert Plant is mimicking a lot of singer Steve Marriott's vocal takes on this song. I hope you get to react to some Small Faces music sometime.
The music has nothing to do with Dixon. Apart from a few lyrics, the song is a Zeppelin original. The only bit where Plant 'mimics' Marriotts line is "woman, you need it" but Plant is far higher in pitch and more powerful. He doesn't mimic Marriott anywhere else in the song.
When this song came out on the radio, I went out and bought the album(not a bad song on it), but I realized this was their second album so went back and bought their first one(again, no bad songs on that one too). Been a fan ever since
Thanks Emma, When the Mike dropped out in the Royal Albert Hall in England, Robert Plant kept singing with the band still plugged in & everyone could still hear him, a very powerful voice indeed, 😅,
One reactor did mention about the backdoor man reference ,also "way down inside, inside" where, oh "I'm going to give you every inch of my love." 1969, I was a junior in high school standing across the street from the school when I first heard the song on radio ('69, it was a transistor radio). The radio sensors missed it. The song shifted the music I was listening and I've never turned back.
Just imagine, 1969, I'm 16 yrs young, and at my first of two LED Zeppelin concerts. It was fantastic, which you too could have experienced it. By your reaction to Plant's voice, I think you would have loved it. Oh, by the way, they must love you as much as I do....normally they would never let one of their song videos on a reaction channel, sorry😢. Keep on trying though.....
That's always fun watching this stuff with you, then it especially helps that you know music, they came out of the gate with these first two albums and that was just mind-boggling really.
Guitarist Jimmy Page was in a famous band called The Yardbirds before he formed Zep. They were an excellent band, and the legendary Howlin' Wolf said the Yardbird's cover of his SMOKESTACK LIGHTNING, one of the finest blues songs ever (as is Zep's SINCE I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU), is his favorite version!
I recommend the live version (1973. Madison Square Garden), it will be a surprise even if you have heard this before. Is a good example of singing technique the Since I've Been Loving You in the same concert.
@@digiorno1142 I think that this concert has the greatest unity of youthful vigor, improvisation, and mature musicianship. They are already no pathfinders, they are no hesitant young people, but they are not tired of it yet. Their 1969-1970 concerts are also excellent, but after that there is a huge development in the musical unity.
The wild sounds at one point are Jimmy Page playing a Theremin, which is a no-contact instrument. Players control sounds by moving hands and fingers around a vertical antenna to raise or lower the pitch, and up or down over a looped antenna to control volume.
Glad to see your getting back journey with Led Zeppelin and others. Keep doing what you do. You have great reactions. There are always the stand-bys for Zeppelin like Stairway To Heaven or Since I Have Been Loving You or Kashmir. We are cheering for you 👏👏👏
You really want to hear Robert's voice, listen to Since I've Been Loving You from the studio version. Just to warn you, listening to Zeppelin, it's gonna be hard to stop. Their song catalog is full of different genres. Enjoy a beautiful journey.😊
Plant had basically two modes: a lower crooning sound and this seemingly endless upper register that ultimately led to surgery. He kind of started an arms race in male singers, as to who could sing the highest. Which wasn't deliberate but a side-effect of where he could go. How he managed to go on at that pitch for so long really baffles me.
Oh ya, almost forgot.....please listen to their "Going to California" video and experience the softer/acoustic side of Zeppelin (no drums)....their acoustic sets were my favorite at the two concerts I attended (1969&1971)
Oh no! You turned it off during the fade out and missed what is Roberts probably most powerful scream ever recorded!… Thanks for the reaction, this has been my favorite song since I first heard it over 50 years ago and it will remain my favorite until I’m 6 feet under and beyond!
Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham played together for the first time in 1968 when they rehearsed at a studio in Gerrard Street in London's West End. They are the best!
I have seen dozens of reactions to this song, and you are the first reactor to understand what the interlude section of this song with Robert Plant moaning at the end (just before the guitar solo) actually represents! Thank you for seeing this. It has been driving me crazy no other reactors understand what it is portraying❤
Can anyone remember the CCS version of this song at the start of the Top Of The Pops (TOTP)programme😏. I used to watch TOTP every Thursday even though most, if not all the live bands mimed their songs😁
This is a shortened version. The middle part, that was shortened, that you so rightly diserned is representative of 'The Act" is much longer on the album cut and there is no doubt as to what it represents in such a musically gifted way.
Welcome to REAL rock n roll. Also, anyone who talks about raunchy rap lyrics needs to take a close listen to this, which is strongly derived from delta blues, basically the roots of modern music.
Nice reaction. Let's not mince words, one of the best songs about getting the bone ever written. They have many iconic songs. My favorite is Custard Pie but there are many to choose from. Thanks.
Almost double bass. The guitarist, Jimmy Page was working off the end of the neck with notes in the bass range at the same time the bass came in at the beginning (you can see it in the video). The guitarist for the Doors because the band didn't have a bass player was renowned for it. Peace.
These boys are the founders of rock and roll later beautiful.❤️😎🇺🇸

Greatest band ever, I half way agree with you, I have them in a tie with Pink Floyd.

best rock band ever, shame you missed Robert Plants scream right at the end.😊
John "Bonzo" Bonham makes this work with his delayed backbeat. He was so good at it.

Epic song..an unforgettable masterpiece
From Led Zeppelin's sophomore album, they cemented their prowess in Hard Rock!!
Beautiful Lady listening to the best band ever ❤
Notice the reverse echo on Plant's vocals "way down inside" towards the end? Brilliant studio effect added by Jimmy Page during production.

No. Robert Plant’s voice was nowhere near as powerful in 1973.
