    I actually bought this phone to REPLACE my OnePlus 11. Overall I thought that was a great phone. But its Bluetooth connection to my car's Android Auto was flaky, causing skips and dropouts on Apple Music and Pandora. Not having reliable tunes in the car was a deal breaker. The S23FE Android Auto experience is flawless.

      Any issues with overheating? That's my main concern honestly. I don't game on phones but use the phone alot throughout the day.

      @@sherryberry90 No overheating issues. I'm aware that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip used in this phone had overheating problems on last year's phones. But Samsung put a large vapor chamber in this model (I assume that's why the battery is smaller than in the cheaper A54 model) and it seems to be keeping the chip cool pretty well.

    *I got this phone for $180.00 from my carrier and its worth every penny. It does not get hot and it's very fast. As far as the battery life it's about average. For the money its a great phone. The Video and photo quality are very good and the image stabilization works very well. I don't know why people spend so much $$$$$ on the CUTTING EDGE equipment when in two years it will just be 'Out-Dated' AGAIN! This phone is VERY "Cost Effective"!!! Highly recommended if you can get it for $5.00 a month on a three year contract like I did.*

      I'm with the same carrier, and know the deal you took. But I'm calling it a $280 purchase, adding up across 3 years, and including sales tax and a 25W charger. Still - a very fair acquisition. Cost me about the same as the old Galaxy J7 that I'm retiring. I can agree with critics, that in specs it's pretty close to the A54, for an S series. (And I was considering an A54 too just for the 5000 ma battery.) Maybe this is more of a late 2022-ish era phone technology-wise. But anyone coming from a really stale old phone like me, with very limited memory and a 60 hz refresh, should be pleased.

  • @viffer94
    @viffer94 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Samsung has probably addressed any heat and battery management issues with the Snapdragon 8 chip that plagued the old S22 ultra so I’m not worried about how the S23 FE will perform. But all the whinging and negging that everyone has been doing about this phone over the past month has probably forced Samsung to cut the price aggressively and I got a great Black Friday deal on one so I’m happy. $459 for the 256 GB version was a steal.

    I think we must be realistic and understand that the S20 FE was a mistake from Samsung's perspective, they launched an incredible phone at a lower price than their S20 lineup and it ended up cannibalizing the other phones in the lineup, plus the 865 was the best Snapdragon processor until the 8Gen2. The S23 FE is just that, a phone that sits between the A54 and S23 with specs that won't turn someone who's buying the regular S23 to buy the FE. Samsung is giving options and that's great for consumers in my opinion, but I agree that 599 is too high for a phone with that chipset.

      Here in the UK which is Exynos market, I bought my S20 FE 5G back in 2020 at £100 discount. Being the only It was practically the more powerful Galaxy S20 series and Note 20 series which were all Exynos, and cost a lot more. The S23 FE is reverse of the S20 FE Snapdragon, because inferior to the rest of S23 series, as mentioned by Adam. It will be getting the Exynos 2200 that was not popular with some people. There are discounts with the S23 series that are close to the FE release price. Also the S23 FE is not available until December! Since I got my S23 Ultra in the summer with a big discount from Samsung including free Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, I won't be getting the S23 FE. I think it could be a poor seller without a price drop from launch!

The thermals and battery life were HORRIBLE on the S22 but I can say I have wayyyy better performance and less throttling on the S23 FE. And with medium use (I use my phone to emulate games often) I can make it a full day before I really need a charge. They have a better vapor chamber and tweaked the SoC. Really, I think the Galaxy A34 with the Dimensity 1080 is a better option than the A54 for someone on a budget. I've had better luck with the MediaTek soc's and the 1080's power is close to the Snapdragon 750g and 765g. (Edit: Dimensity 1080 is slightly lower on single-core but slightly higher on multi-core scores than the 750g and 765g).. The A34 is no slouch at only $250.

    I doubt they'll drop it to $449 because that's the price of the A54. The A54 is also overpriced so they'd have to drop it to $375 or so. It's probably best to wait till the S24 comes out then snag a S23+ at a bargain price.

    I bought it for £355 and I still think I've been robbed. I've been so disappointed in it. Exynos chip...poor. camera too. And it's like carrying a brick around. The os is poorly designed. And Why did I buy it....I was tempted by the launch offer. I'll.plod on and wait to see what honor come up with this year.

    All the reviewers same the same thing - it's an older phone packaged bla bla bla.. Get the normal S23.
    Let me explain in Marketing Terms:
    This phone is for those who would like a Brand New flagship phone with the full period of updates in a decent sized screen, not a 6.1 inch, but you don't necessarily need the absolute latest tech.
    If you need great battery life, switch on power saving but leave all the features on, and you'll get 4 hours SOT and 8 hours standby.
