This is amazing and thank you for sharing. I am currently in a Lipids class at my college where we are discussing topics such as Lipoprotein (a). Increasing awareness may be slow, but it is happening :)

Hi I'm 61 years old and have elevated Lp(a). It was 403mg/l in 2012 and 400mg/l last summer. I had a scan and feared a dead sentence. However the outcome was quite positive. I have very litle to no plaque. Only 3% at my age have less plaque I was told. My cardio age was judged to 34-39 years! I'm quite healthy and my triglyceride have been low the few times measured, which should hint I'm metabolic healthy. Maybe that's what matters? Not the level of cholesterol or Lp(a)? I will not take any drug to reduce my Lp(a)

Gunnar, thank you for your post. Today Mar 3, 2023 I got my Lp(a) result: 218 nmol/L which is HIGH. I'm 71 and my triglyceride also low. I'm not taking anything to reduce my cholesterol or Lp(a) either. I don't think it's as serious as Big Pharma says .. . . they just want to make more drugs! cheers

@@sniztech My total LDL was 167 mg/dl before i started medication, after medication it is 89 mg/dl, i take rosuvastatin 10 mg. I dont suffer any symptoms at all, i just visited the doctor and i told him i want to do a cardiac CT scan because my father passed a way when he was 43 because of a heart attack and I am now 38, although i dont have any complaint at all, i insisted on doing a CT scan, because it it the most accurate test after cath lab, it shows if there is a plaque and whether the plaque has calcium or not. In the next visit to my doctor, i will discuss using niacin for LP(a), as there is no real medication for it yet.

Mine is over 600. Zero calcium build up and no found blockages. My total cholesterol is 375. I'm 53. Ladies, do your research. It's not as bad for us as it is for men. I do watch it closely and don't take anything for granted, but I'm not super quick to drastically lower it either.

Tipp: do a LP-PLA2 Bloodtest, then you know your real risk.

I have a level of 1025, which scares me. I'm 36 and I've been told I cannot have a scan on my heart or arteries to check it's okay. Even the risk factoring (Q score I think its' called) doesn't take LP(a) levels into account. Is there anything I can do about this? Obviously I am working on keeping all other risk factors as low as possible.

take aspirins to negate the thrombotic effect
      pcsk9i could help
      try to reduce inflammation
we probably will have a breakthrough in 2025
hopefully there'll be a treatment then
