I own all the Hero Quest sets, this set only thing worth in it is the extra minis, quest book,cards,board and dice. The standings can stay in the box and never use them. Price is like one off the new expansions.I still think the dragon should be bigger i have DnD mini young black dragon that's 3by6 squares and works fine for middle off the board. This great to pull people to get into the game. The main core set is still the best besides the 1990 version which it had card board parts. All resins still the best .
Not having all plastic figures is a bit of a let-down. But i know it's cheaper. I'd rather stick with my old stuff and keep writing new quests and making figures like i have been.
Not the biggest fan of the dragon… he is a little too “guy in a big dragon costume” for my liking. especially when compared to the dragon from CoPD. I will take him and add him to my monster roster but that is a bit disappointing

It's meant as an alternative, cheaper option to get new players into heroquest, but there's new content in here for existing players who have the core set to enjoy as well. The quest book for this is new and doesn't have the same quests as the base game.
Both! It is a pared down version of the base game that you can buy that has some minis for the heroes and a dragon boss, but the rest of the bad guys and furniture was just tiles and standees. However, you can also use your base game minis and just use the quest book from this! This also includes a 6-fold board as well. The board is also double-sided! There's a new cave-like board on the back side.

@@petertheapostle1 no, the exact same base characters. Some slight text changes on some hero and spell cards
If you want to make your own, there is a heroquest card Editor. I made a lot of Extra cards for skills, furniture search, Monsters, and New classes.
