My intro to Supertramp was the album Even in the Quietest Moments, a friend's older sister had it. Fool's Overture blew me away and I was hooked for a couple years after that. Every now and then when I feel like something different Supertramp is usually a good go to.

The harmonica at the beginning of School changed my life! Prior to that I was interested in music but never really sat down and just listened to an album. The Crime of the Century album was for me the album I remember listening to for the first time. Many point out Dark Side of the Moon as that special album, (and it is) but for me it was Crime of the Century

Supertramp....the reluctant band A bunch of Uni mates who decided one day to slay the world, get their cut and run early...nice neat operation if you consider the volume of material in such a relatively short time. With a slew of top ten hit songs. If there was no Supertramp, someone would have invented them. Very English, perfect timing. Sophisticated and sardonic with a smoothness and drama that defies categorization. A truly original band, yet sublimely familiar. You didn't leave out any of my all time faves on your list but there are some serious honorable mentions as well. That means this weekend I'm finding a relaxing deck chair under an umbrella and do an end to end Supertramp smorgasbord. Chin chin friends.

A few buddies came over and we had a BBQ and some beers on the deck under umbrellas. It was a memorable time looking back on what we were doing at the release of every track back then. It's incredible that Supertramp were a worldwide phenomenon and here in Australia the following is as strong as anywhere. Thanks for a fantastic channel and keep up the fine work. The 'Tramp suggestion was spot on.
My introduction to Supertramp was "It's raining again", which was a huge hit in continental Europe, but funnily enough neither in the UK nor in the US. For that it'll always have a special place in my heart. Best song is "Hide in your shell" though.

Actually, "An Awful Thing to Waste" off of "Free as a Bird" sounds alot like it could have been off the "Brother Where You Bound" album. It's a fantastic cut. VERY epic!
Supertramp always played in my hometown way before they ever made it really big. One of our local dj's used to be their record co. rep back then so they called Fresno, California their American home.
I first saw Supertramp live April 8, 1977 at the Winnipeg Arena- great concert- they had to add a second night. The first time that happened for the group in a large arena environment.

Some Things Never Change was not a bad album. But, it´s far from being classic Supertramp. With Roger Hodgson out of the band, Supertramp lost some of the magic of past albums.

Was never a big Supertramp fan but did appreciate their music. I do have to say "Give A Little Bit" & "Goodbye Stranger" are probably two of the greatest rock songs ever recorded. Headboy 100% yes. You’re spot on there-it is NO contest. Breakfast in America is okay and some good cuts there. But as an ALBUM, Crime is so much better.
@@shizuokaBLUES Crime of the Century benefits from having absolutely no filler. Every song is a memorable masterpiece. Breakfast in America arguably has only one filler track, which is also one of their least memorable songs "Casual Conversations". At least the filler on their previous albums are somewhat more memorable like "The Meaning", "Lover Boy", "Just A Normal Day", and yes even "Babaji" (which is my least favorite track on EITQMs, but not a bad song my any means).
A friend gave me the Crime of the Century album in 1978, when we were juniors in high school. Best present ever. I would have Sister Moonshine in my top 10. Live it is even better.

Actually, "An Awful Thing to Waste" off of "Free as a Bird" sounds alot like it could have been off the "Brother Where You Bound" album. It's a fantastic cut. VERY epic!
Supertramp always played in my hometown way before they ever made it really big. One of our local dj's used to be their record co. rep back then so they called Fresno, California their American home.
I first saw Supertramp live April 8, 1977 at the Winnipeg Arena- great concert- they had to add a second night. The first time that happened for the group in a large arena environment.

Some Things Never Change was not a bad album. But, it´s far from being classic Supertramp. With Roger Hodgson out of the band, Supertramp lost some of the magic of past albums.

Was never a big Supertramp fan but did appreciate their music. I do have to say "Give A Little Bit" & "Goodbye Stranger" are probably two of the greatest rock songs ever recorded. I never get tired hearing of hearing these tunes. Hey Pete.. Have you ever done a top ten list on Foghat or J Geils Band? Looking forward to the Molly Hatchet list also.

@@shizuokaBLUES Crime of the Century benefits from having absolutely no filler. Every song is a memorable masterpiece. Breakfast in America arguably has only one filler track, which is also one of their least memorable songs "Casual Conversations". At least the filler on their previous albums are somewhat more memorable like "The Meaning", "Lover Boy", "Just A Normal Day", and yes even "Babaji" (which is my least favorite track on EITQMs, but not a bad song my any means).

A friend gave me the Crime of the Century album in 1978, when we were juniors in high school. Best present ever. I would have Sister Moonshine in my top 10. Live it is even better.

I always disliked Supertramp......but I was given a concert ticket.....purely awesome! One of the best shows, ever! That show was in the 1990's.
I would have never left out Fool's Overture and Child of Vision. It's nice to have included 'Brother where you bound' which is underrated.
