    "Fast rapping" is called Double Time. It isn't necessarily a prerequisite to being a great lyricist. What's awesome about Eminem is the way he effortlessly switches flows and cadences. Flowing from one rhythm to another. Yes, his speed is impressive, but switching up your flow at any given moment and still delivering the same quality is a lot more challenging. There's a ton of "fast rappers" out there who rhyme about nothing and just want to be flashy with their delivery. Which is fine if that's your style. But combining all the elements of lyricism into multiple verses is really what separates lyricists from rappers.

    • @yoitscaptain
      @yoitscaptain 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      this is exactly why i wouldn’t say Eminem is the GOAT lyricist, Eminem is top tier but Lupe is a whole other level imo

    • @GABA-Gool
      @GABA-Gool 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@yoitscaptain Eminem is far too inconsistent for me to comfortably place him in a top 5 spot. Top 10 even, if I think hard about all the artists I like. Lupe is rarely disappointing. If he does disappoint, it's usually because he took some artistic direction that didn't resonate with me. But I've rarely walked away from a Lupe album thinking "damn. That was ass."
      Now Eminem... I love him when he does pull through, but it's definitely a mixed bag.

    • @PotawatomiThunderNew
      @PotawatomiThunderNew 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Bone is the greatest group of all time, so absolutely do a reaction to them. But not Crossroads though. For a Metal fan to listen to Bone for the first time, Crossroads ain’t the song to start them with. It’s gotta be Thuggish Ruggish Bone or something. Or possibly East 1999? It’s just gotta be something with a little more edge and higher energy, and one that is well known/easily accessible. It couldn’t be a high energy song that’s a deep album cut.

    • @PotawatomiThunderNew
      @PotawatomiThunderNew 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh and just to throw this out there, Krayzie Bone did a remix to Rap God and he totally smashed Eminem’s version of the song. If you’ve ever seen Jurassic World, think of Eminem as a T-Rex and Krayzie Bone as an Indominus Rex.

    I hope your friend reaches his goal, or I hope that we as subscribers are able to cover at least a sizable portion of the cost. - Thanks for doing another one. At the end of the video you talked about Tom Araya’s vocals and I know exactly what you’re referring to. As a fan of both genres, I wouldn’t compare Tom Araya’s early style to rapping. He’s saying a lot in those old songs, but it is completely offbeat and there’s no real technique or pattern to how he did it. He just kinda blurts it out as quickly as he can without much regard to how it fit over the music. And I say that with love because Slayer is one of my favorite bands.
    You guys shouldn’t give this up for good. You guys were the first ones I seen on TH-cam trying to react to Hip-Hop as Metal fans. I remember your reasoning for deciding to stop. You don’t really have to have a set schedule or anything. Maybe just every once in a while you can drop in for a minute with another reaction or something. There’s a lot of styles and types across various sub-genres that I would love to see how guys would perceive it. And fast rap is one of them. I especially don’t want your only exposure to it to be Rap God. People hear this and think it’s super fast but don’t even know that in the fast rap scene, it’s pretty basic. How Eminem is regarded in the fast rap community is similar to how Metallica is regarded by Metal elitists. In Metal, Metallica is my favorite band, I don’t care what any elitist has to say. But in Hip-Hop I think Eminem is regular as hell. He’s got good songs, and if you ever do another Eminem video it should definitely be “Stan”. But there’s other fast rappers who can rap circles around Eminem, trust me.

      Altaire Versailles no it’s his. He sampled some of her lyrics in the chorus. But the beat, all the four verses, the concept, it’s all his. It’s not Dido’s just because there’s a sample. She didn’t write the verses, come up with the concept, or make the beat. Eminem did. It’s his song.
      And his best song. No one has ever had a concept or story like that before him.

    Only watching the intro, I gotta say, I appreciate your open-mindedness. I feel like rap is one of those genres that is easily dismissed by people that didn't grow up with it. There's a lot of substance that people miss out on because of the horrible mainstrean stuff

    • @magnum567134
      @magnum567134 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      After watching the video, a couple of points. Early in Eminem's career, he got a lot of attention for his offensive nature, things like bashing gays, talking about rape, or killing his kid's mother. Eminem often does his most impressive, tongue-twisty stuff when he's being over the top. He's also prided himself on not filtering himself, and long-time fans love that about him

    • @magnum567134
      @magnum567134 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The second thing I find interesting is when you compare his speed rapping to some metal vocalists. Rap, in it's most basic form outside of the culture, is an alternative to singing. Though I don't know much about metal personally, a lot of the vocalists I've heard do more rapping than actual singing. It's just that nobody looks at it that way because the cultures are so different

It also brings the Factor that everbody tries to be the best wich results in an amazing competition and also gives a Lot of Motivation to the listener. Rap Song in wich Rappers flex about Themselves can give You a Lot of Motivation when your Feeling down. For me at least. Great reaction btw.!
