This was early 90s and I was about 14 years old so I can't remember any details, but I remember that this thing was incredible and the name Eventide stuck with me ever since. A few years ago I was able to try the H9 Max which is a lot of fun and I will have to buy one some day. Thanks for that video. A lot of fun.
I use Orville and H8000fw units here. Upgrade from a 7500. I use the samplers on both for quick capture of ideas. The tuner preset is another go to tool, accurate tuning and intonation. Each preset is like trying a new food, which takes time to interpret and digest. Reason being, some are designed for use after a guitar, others after a speaker. Some output a dry blend, others are simply saturated. Pre/Post and Series/Parallel. With so many uses over the years, Eventide includes a staggering amount of presets in every Harmonizer, which were carried forward to the new units. For example, the H9000 has all the H9 presets, all the DSP7000 presets, the GTR4000 presets, and the H3000 presets. I pity the new user who has to interpret a H9000. That’ll take some time to get your head around. For a unique look at Eventide’s capabilities, search Italo De Angelis website and library upgrades. I’ve purchased his addition libraries and could not say enough good things about them. Funny how Warren’s H3000-S unit didn’t make the sample image of the Harmonizer line. Every other Harmonizer pictured but his. The early H3000 line was diversified for broadcast, studio, sampler enabled, etc and came with unique preset libraries, in other words... not all H3000s are the same. In fact they’re quite unique. The Orville is still my favorite. I still haven’t bought the H9000, for obvious reasons. -Jim

Want want want ...I want this more than a top end synthesiser. I do have the H3000 plugin. Big love ...I'm well happy you covered this pice of kit, thanks a big love.
I remember downloading some demo clips from an Eclipse years ago. I had read someone's comment about one of the presets, "you don't even need to have anything plugged in -- just load the preset and hit record." Calling it an effects processor was underselling the box.
AllYouKnowIsWrong In how much it can process and due at the same time, then yes. The H9000 has the processing power of about 8 H3000s, but the analog input section and 16 bit goodness will not be replicated by the H9000. That’s what makes it so unique and used today. That, my friend, can’t be beat.
Thank's! Meanwhile, before getting into this beast, I will explore the H9 that I just bought! This H9000 is time consuming but... and of course, inspiring!! I would love your thought's about the new SSL 6 channel strip :)
26:20 I can hear that in a section where it breaks down to vocal only (say for a line or two, towards the end of a song/final choruses etc) with the actual vocal soloed in it's "correctly" effected state with that swirling effect on a doubled dry vocal simultaneously, but mixed subtly in the background. It would probably be quite effective and moody, haunting, surreal, or however it could be described. I loved it as soon as I heard it but it was just too wet to be pleasing to the ear. That made me think how it would be if it were balanced properly. Cool find!
Hi Mr Dann I hear you! Amazing things like this can cost a lot! It’s a reality for many of us! Thanks to Eventide for pushing the boundaries though as it will of course trickle down to all of us in time!
I've had the H8000 for 10 years and I still haven't explored all it's presets and potential so I won't be needing this. But they're incredible boxes for delays, effected delays, every kind of reverb you could ever need and even chorus, flangers and a ton other creative effects. It does everything and it has amazing programmable capabilities. I couldn't do without it. But they're not cheap....
4:52 "A-ha! Sold!" Too flippin' funny! As soon as the picture appeared onscreen, I was on eBay looking for an Omnipressor. If Brian May played it, I gotta see if I can have one. (No, didn't buy the one I found. I'm over budget for at least the next 2 years, lol)

Its true, the soundscapes you can create are second to none. Those of you worried about the price, these units or anything eventide are so worth it and the h9k is some next level capability youre just not going to ever reproduce in the daw ever. Ive tried.
I was born in 1971 when Eventide started. I turn 50 this year. It's amazing to me that you can, for all intents and purposes, buy a lifetime to audio FX innovation in a rack-mount box. And being that it's broken away from purpose-built DSP silicone to CPU abstraction layer, it means that it's future-proof because new innovations are just a firmware update away. For those interested, an ARM processor is what Apple's new M1 computers are based on.
Wow, what an awesome sounding unit with so many potential to create sounds and effects. And it sounds so good. Amazing. I wonder what my fiancee will say, when I tell her that we have to postpone the purchase of a new car for a year ;-)

Just asking but, are you all giving one of these away? Because Damn $7000.00 wow I cant do that write off yet it is amazing though love you're videos Warren keep up the fantastic work.
For those who didnt get the "Bug" comment (re plugins being literally plug-inable EPROMS) , the term Bug came frome the 1950s days when memory on computers where based on magnetic coils, and an error occured in the software because a literal creepy-crawly bug climbed into the memory cabinet , got fried and shorted out the memory. So De-bugging, involved removing the hapless splattered bug from the hardware. I'm surpised you knew that bit of IT trivia Warren, most IT geeks don't , let alone studio guys.
I think the only thing that kills me about modern Eventide stuff, is that there's relatively little reason this couldn't be written for x86 and run on your computer as a plugin. But, they want to sell hardware (little/no piracy there!). I don't blame them, but there's really not much super magic about a box with ARM processors in 2019 that couldn't be done in x86 instructions as well. Or heck, run on an iPad Pro (which is just a variant of the ARM processor). Still, they are making good stuff, and I've always enjoyed their gear and will likely do so again in the future.
Hi David, yes, they do make amazing stuff! Interesting point, I asked a couple of computer boffins (I'm definitely not one! Haha) and they said the amount of processing this unit would need would exceed almost any computer than ran a DAW, other plug ins etc simultaneously. Which seems quite logical when you've actually used this beast!
If a plugin is programmed to efficiently use multiple cores, an AMD Ryzen 9 with its 12 cores should be able to handle the processing load comfortably, even a Ryzen 7 with 8 cores should be able to do a good job.
Vlad Snape thanks for sharing! Elsewhere here someone said this might be a great alternative for them because to get a computer as powerful as it would cost X price and now they wouldn’t need to get something that powerful. So between your responses it points to where you want to spend your money.
Vlad Snape although of course if you max out your computer you still don’t have this unit, you’d then have invest in the technology and 40 years of doing this to create what Eventide has created!
@@Producelikeapro It is only the software development tools that need to become easier to use that is holding things up, and within 5 or so years, this will change. Eventide's marketing (or lack thereof) for this box is a real head-scratcher. There are VERY few videos on this $8000 flagship, and of those, only a fraction let us actually HEAR the thing for any length of time. This video is THIRTY MINUTES - and almost ALL of it is just talking about the box. Finally, when we get to hear something, it's 20 minutes in... and MONO. Having been in this industry for 3+ decades I know that it's world class based on Eventide's history, and maybe that's what they're counting on? Whatever the case, it sure doesn't seem like anyone wants to actually sell this box or its astounding capabilities by letting people hear it - they just want to *talk* about it. Really, really bizarre. Funny enough, when trying to find some great demos of the H9000, I kept stumbling on videos of the 20-year-old Eclipse. It sounds so good I jumped over to Reverb and bought one. I would have been interested in the H9000... if I could actually hear one.
Hey Warren! Hope you are doing great... are you actually using audient ID44 to mix master your sessions or just as an extra unit that you use here and there?
Any guitar effects you want to use, the guitarist will use their pedal board of effects from $100-400 as well as their preferred amp. Plug ins from so many companies are so good. I can't imagine anyone spending $6,000 for this. The SOS review stated it has a noisy fan and is not recommended to be next to where your mixing.
This is great ... exciting possibilities ... if you've had it long enough to scratch below the surface a bit, can you maybe do a followup to share what you've learnt?
Hi Warren, I'm a home studio user. I'm currently tracking my own concept album. When I come to the mix down, I'd like to export them as a continuous piece of music, but want the track numbers to change accordingly. How is this done?
Johnny Martin marvellous question! In Pro Tools you should name all of your tracks how you want them to be, then consolidate them from bar zero. Does that makes sense? Which DAW are you in?
@@johnnymartin6847 ok! Yay should be able to name your tracks and freeze them/consolidate them with all the edits included. Let's hope there's Cubase users reading this!
Hi Warren, Love to hear more about some of the Sonic Farm products. Your good friend Jack Douglas uses them. They even modified one of their mic pre/saturation devices: Xcalibur JC Saturation Preamp - the JC stands for Joe Chiccarelli. Boris is a wonderful and very knowledgeable man. He'll be at winter NAMM.
Big expensive hardware, YUM LOL. I sold my DSP4000b+ I can honestly say I no longer miss it, but, they make excellent hardware no doubt. I bought the blackhole plugin and I have the Ultrachannel and Quadravox. Almost forgot I have the UAD H910 too. Warren the kid in the candy store LOL.
How do you have this routed in your studio? I know there is a controller plug-in but that seems like just control not I/O. Do you create USB aggregate devices is it somehow integrated in I/O setup as a hardware insert, via USB?
Hi warren, This is off point of the video its more a FAQ Friday question, but I was hoping you could advise me on whether to invest in Sonarworks or purchase Abbey Road Studio 3 plugin, where do think my money would be best spent. Thanks Fergus
I'm thinking "plug-in" is a fairly ubiquitous term with application in many areas of life. In the case of software signal processors, I imagine the usage is due to the patching of hardware units into the signal path, as they are plugged into the board or patch bay with patch cords.
HELP! I'm probably going to buy this but am torn between the H9000 and the R model. It seems like there's no way to really navigate the depth of possibilities without a bigger computer screen. Is it worth the extra 2k for the model with the screen, or save the money and buy a tablet for a fraction of the difference in cost and use it with the H9000R. Also, how are the converters on this? can they be used for tracking?
Where's Italo? Any idea what reverb preset would replicate the song heaven and hell by black sabbath? I can't seem to find that sound on my 7000. Sounds like they're playing from the pits of hell.
I'd be happy even if you just played music like your intro every video. But can you plug an unbalanced mono cable in if it's in your rack D: If you're silliy enough to pay 7000€ for a producer multieffect mammoth to get pitch shift and reverb effects in your guitar rack :D You know, for the nostalgy and legacy. This was an amazing lecture on Eventide/H-series history.
Can an H949 be repaired these days, or do they contain a lot of weird chips that are no longer available? I have one that seems to have a problem in the A/D-department, I think (the FX work, but the output audio is garbled).
Produce Like A Pro, you should really try the gtr4000 it’s a dsp4000 for guitar and it has really awesome tube guitar fx and vintage unobtanium pedals and emulations of tube equipment built into it.
What do you want to hear about next? Let me know below!

Funny enough, when trying to find some great demos of the H9000, I kept stumbling on videos of the 20-year-old Eclipse. It sounds so good I jumped over to Reverb and bought one. I would have been interested in the H9000... if I could actually hear one.
Awesome video with great information, thank you Warren.
Hi Nightflower Music you’re very welcome my friend!!
Hey Warren! Hope you are doing great... are you actually using audient ID44 to mix master your sessions or just as an extra unit that you use here and there?
I use it A LOT!! I love what it does!!
@@Producelikeapro so u are using audient instead of UAD,RME, Digi or Antelope 🤯???
@@musicwitharijit I own an Audient, I also use QES Pad-2, Avid, UAD and Lavry Intefaces!
@@Producelikeapro thank you
Any guitar effects you want to use, the guitarist will use their pedal board of effects from $100-400 as well as their preferred amp.
Plug ins from so many companies are so good. I can't imagine anyone spending $6,000 for this. The SOS review stated it has a noisy fan and is not recommended to be next to where your mixing.
Amazing. Thx guys.
Thanks ever so much
"'80s Guitar Solo", with that guitar line, sounded like something off of a Sugar record!
Hey Warren, just ordered one of these today in the UK.. something stood out for me on this, what is meant by the term DI Print?
This is great ... exciting possibilities ... if you've had it long enough to scratch below the surface a bit, can you maybe do a followup to share what you've learnt?
Nikola Tesla T-Shirt!? CoOol!!!:P
Haha nice!!
@@Producelikeapro hi Warren, unfortunately it doesn't make sense lol. I'm using cubase 10 pro.
@@johnnymartin6847 ok! Yay should be able to name your tracks and freeze them/consolidate them with all the edits included. Let's hope there's Cubase users reading this!
Hey Warren, what happened to your Trio 11 Be's? Also curious why aren't there a single 'decent' reivew about them on YT
I LOVED them and everyone I know who owns them loves them! The speaker stands just got here today and they will be up!!
Guitar reminds me of The Police. 👍
Thanks ever so much! I'll take that! The Police were an amazing band!
Is there any difference of sound quality with the plugin eventide ?
What happened to your shirt here 0:23? Did it size down after getting into focus?
vacation does that to my shirts too LOL :)
Haha yes, a little too much delicious Italian food in Italy!
@@PooNinja Haha yes, indeed!!
do you know any techniques using the Omnipressor.
Hi Tony Carpenter yes, I had an amazing time with this wonderful unit!!
At $7k, this is Way out most small project studio budgets, so how does the H3000 Factory plugin compare to the H9000?
Hey fellow producers, am I able to replace my interface with a mixer that has an interface?
Absolutely! If a mixer has an amazing IO then why not?
How do you have this routed in your studio? I know there is a controller plug-in but that seems like just control not I/O. Do you create USB aggregate devices is it somehow integrated in I/O setup as a hardware insert, via USB?
Hi warren,
This is off point of the video its more a FAQ Friday question, but I was hoping you could advise me on whether to invest in Sonarworks or purchase Abbey Road Studio 3 plugin, where do think my money would be best spent.
Thanks Fergus
amazing unit, is not for everybody...yes for me....soon...
what is the plug in version of this? eventide H9000
Sounds darker like eclipse? That's why I preferred the H8000
Nice
Agreed!
I'm curious how the plugin controls on the emote map to the S6/eucon surfaces, I would hate to be twiddling around with a mouse to change parameters
yeah...wheres the H9000 give away? lol
Haha I wish!!
@@Producelikeapro 😂
Isaac Pizarro haha it’s quite amazing indeed!
I'm thinking "plug-in" is a fairly ubiquitous term with application in many areas of life. In the case of software signal processors, I imagine the usage is due to the patching of hardware units into the signal path, as they are plugged into the board or patch bay with patch cords.
Got an idea... how bout looking at the Fractal Axe FX3? A lot of famous bands are switching to it including "EDGE" of U2.
24.44 Love like blood by Killing joke.
Huge fan! Amazing track!
Does it do all the really crazy stuff that H-3000 can do?
Superb
Can an H949 be repaired these days, or do they contain a lot of weird chips that are no longer available? I have one that seems to have a problem in the A/D-department, I think (the FX work, but the output audio is garbled).
747 views, my favorite number
That's a great number indeed!
@@BrianMcDermottChannel haha that's freaky indeed!
Yeah , I remember the on off days.
Warren 'Pull a Knob' Hewitt
siriusisastar haha funny, although it’s Huart! Haha
😀
Thanks ever so much Audrey!
It sounds like and has the functionality of an Axe FX III, but twice as expensive.
Hi Andreas, I have an Axe FX III and this is nothing like it! I do love the Axe, however the H9000 is a far more hugely powerful machine!!
Amazing, i need a producer, too
No 50% discount deal?
So this is the most top of the line multi-fx unit ever?
so jealous i'm a 22 year old guitar player and i just bought three eventide h3000's and than this thing has to come out and 1up me...
That's amazing that you got an H3000!!
Produce Like A Pro, you should really try the gtr4000 it’s a dsp4000 for guitar and it has really awesome tube guitar fx and vintage unobtanium pedals and emulations of tube equipment built into it.
@@michaelrende6805 thanks ever so much for the tip!!
Drool factor high. Live my Timefactor Pitchfactor and Eclipse!
Amazing!! Thanks for sharing!
is 9000 the model number or the price $
yes
Would it be possible to track with the fix but not record them over Dante.
