- The mighty James River is one of my favorite places to fish and this video will show you why. It keeps me on my toes, is ever-changing and some true giants lurk in the water below. The weather did not cooperate and ruined our tournament-day game plan but we stuck it out, adapted, and ended up with a top 10 finish.

Poles look good. What make /kind poles you guys using?? What kind of action also?
On the James River, I use Big Cat Fever heavy action. At home on the Ohio River I use their medium heavy action rods

I'll eat a fish out sewage S hole 🕳️ because it's how you purify the meat with a little of white vinegar in cold water 🌊 than clean it off with cold water than you can grill it or frie it up 😂🐟🎣
What kindof sinker rig do you use?
I typically use flat-bank or river (coin) sinkers.

Wondering what kind of CHIP you use in your Fishfinder/GPS ?? Navtronics? I may of spelled that wrong. The reason I ask I just got a 9" Lowrance Elite FS so I am asking around on what I need for the James or any other river.
Whats up buddy! I use navionics east region card for the james. It's not perfect but gives you a good idea of what's going on with the river bottom.

What kind of lights do you use at night for the rods....
I use blue LED rock lights I got from Amazon. Mounted to the back of my rod racks.

We wanted to come down and fish for Blue cats. Wanted to know what the law is on Gill Nets (for bait ,gizzard Shad) in the James around the Hopewell area?? Wanted to get a Gill Net but not sure on what size to get for Gizzard Shad. You have any suggestions ??

I use a 100ft long by 6ft tall net. Mesh size is 1-3/4.

If you had to pick a Spring/summer month NOT to fish the James River for big blues what month would you say. Also what month would be your favorite for BIG blues??
June would be the month I wouldn't want to fish the James, the blues are spawning then. Honestly, the other 11 months are typically pretty good but if I had to choose, my 2 favorite months to fish down there are December and late March.

I mainly use 40 and 50 lb Slimeline mono.
