The question is: how do we love God? Who teaches it? This is the highest goal of life. Love is selfless as what Jesus exemplified. Asking for salvation is selfish, it’s not based on love but fear for oneself. Jesus never asked for his salvation, not even to spare his own life. He wants us to “carry our own cross” and follow his example. Salvation is automatically achieved once we develop our love for God, even without asking for it. Seeking first the kingdom of God is no different than loving God. They are one and the same. “Give us our daily bread” is not about material food, but the spirit soul’s food. We should understand that we are not the physical body but spirit souls, and our food is spiritual - glorifying God. Jesus’ teachings is for our spiritual well-being and not for our material, physical well-being. He was never concerned about his own body except he used it 100% for serving and loving his Father. Jesus FIRST and FOREMOST commandment is to “Love God with all your heart, all your mind, your soul and your entire being and do His will.” There is no greater commandment than this. This love is spiritual, unconditional, unlike the love we know of this world. Love for God never asks for anything in return, just like what Jesus exemplified with his life and teachings.
The question is: how do we love God? Who teaches it? This is the highest goal of life. Love is selfless as what Jesus exemplified. Asking for salvation is selfish, it’s not based on love but fear for oneself. Jesus never asked for his salvation, not even to spare his own life. He wants us to “carry our own cross” and follow his example. Salvation is automatically achieved once we develop our love for God, even without asking for it.
Seeking first the kingdom of God is no different than loving God. They are one and the same.
“Give us our daily bread” is not about material food, but the spirit soul’s food. We should understand that we are not the physical body but spirit souls, and our food is spiritual - glorifying God.
