Awesome vid, I am curious of why the heli evac was used in this situation? From an outside perspective, a dislocated knee that was popped back in place doesn't seem like a high risk evac situation? Obviously it worked, so therefore kudos to that, however, what was the thought process and reasoning behind this decisoin?
He wouldnt be able to ski down as it is very painful and it would take a very long time getting him down safe putting them in the dark witch is dangerous, better to use a helicopter.
This looks to be the Mount Blanc region. Temperatures drop to the negative F at night, so being caught on the glacier- which is off piste, and unpatrolled can get you killed. Either way he was not an easily mobile patient, sledging him down would have meant bumps and jars + a race against time so to speak, with that big of a sledge hookup they would have to take slow fat carving turns to get him down. This way they recovered their two agents, the patient and due to this being a stable patient they utilized a underbelly sling system instead of using a helicopter with a winch and pulling the men up separately. I love how right rescuer is talking to him about how pretty it is getting to ride up there, he tries to convey it right after they take off. Your can see him thinking, this is why i love this jjob, sucks you got hurt,m but damn its pretty up here.
@@OneMouseGaming according to the title it's in St. Anton in Austria. So Alps, but neither near Mont Blanc nor glacier. It seems to be a black run, so they might not have had a good way of accessing the patient from below. No idea why though, since it doesn't seem too far up (there are trees around, so its below 2000m). Maybe they did not know if it was a broken bone or anything more severe so they made sure they could get the person down the mountain as best as possible without having to tow them down behind a ski doo or akia on a black run.
@@Sebi_7this seems to be in the afternoon (which is where most of the accidents happen due to fatigue and bad track conditions) the track might just not be good enough and too steep to go down in an Akia
