Just ordered it thanks to this review. I managed to get it for £355 on Watcho, which I'm more than happy with. I've only just recently gotten into watches, my collection so far, in order of purchase... Steinhart Ocean One Premium Blue Citizen Nighthawk Victorinox INOX Swiss Army automatic And thanks to you, I have a Seiko Samurai arriving soon :)
"brutal" - no I would say modern, architectural, angular. I love those different angles, it looks like a futuristic megayacht you see in movies. on the crown guards alone, 4 angular surfaces come together and mate to the large lateral surfaces that are superbly satin finished and angle outward both horizontally and vertically. there's a lot going on here as far as architectural design pedigree. i think the case could find a place in a frank gehry museum next to a B&O sounds system. Having said that, this is also a reference to age old Japanese architecture and the slanted box shapes - think japanese roofs, sandals/clogs, temple roofs with similar minimalistic angular lines. I've owned this watch twice, just repurchased recently as mint condition for barely above minimum bid (USD 260). I plan to keep this one. I had owned the previous SRPC93 version also (and sold it) , with the dark crown and knurled bezel, much prefer this one's richer blue dial. The engraved bezel insert also kills it and is like a thick ceramic with multiple textures, whereas the previous version srpc93 only has a standard painted aluminum bezel without the 3d surface treatment, which really sets this one apart along with the dial. the bezel insert here is like ceramic but better with its cool textures
WOW, I’ve seen this watch a few times and this is the first time I’ve noticed the smaller details. I really like the second hand and how the bezel has the markers machined in👌🏻 I love my orange Samurai but this may have to get added🤔
It’s a handmade German pilot style strap. (Cost more than the watch XD) The “bund” does make it feel much bigger. But has a cool 70’s look. Il try to find the link to the maker if you want it. Can’t remember the name right now.
@@biscuitsalive If you can find it easily I would appreciate a link. Otherwise I'm sure I can find something myself now I know what to look for. Cheers!
Foomandoonian it was this company. Badly mad website you may have to hunt around to find the exact one. (I remember it took me a while to find it. ) But high quality. www.jurgensgermany.com/shop/index.php/1/watch-straps
4r35 movement I believe has two plastic cogs inside that go brittle and shed the teeth with age according to a watch makers channel I watch , bit of a shame that for what ever reason seiko decide to do something stupid , thumbs up good vid Shane uk 🇬🇧
Thanks for the input. Hadn’t hear of that. I guess the movement itself isn’t that costly. So if it did go after a couple of years or so you could replace it easily. They certainly put some effort into the dial, case etc. It really does feel like quality to me.
im actually now selling this exact watch, ends in 2 days, listing here - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153829290517?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
I know this was a long time ago, but, this is one of the best reviews I’ve seen for this Seiko Samurai. I’ve seen quite a few of your watch reviews, you have a great way of showing, detailing and reviewing watches. You definitely should do more! Do you mind me asking why you sold your Seiko Samurai? From your review, it came across that you loved everything about it, and it is a stunning watch.
@@Judas_Phart I just found it a little Too chunky. Looks great on display but I never found myself Wearing it much. And I don’t tend to keep watches I don’t wear. (My wrists are on small size, so chunky watches can be not the best fit for me)
@@biscuitsalive Thanks for the reply, and saying why you sold it, I would do the same if a watch just sat there, unless I absolutely loved it. I have the same dial on my SRPE07K1 turtle, with a sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel and candy bar cyclops over the day and date. I ordered this Samurai today because it has the same dial, and because it has a different bezel, different indexes, different hands and different lumibrite colour. I love that this Samurai will be so different but also familiar. I never liked the Samurai until I saw this version of it. Now I love the Samurai! I love the shape, the size, the thickness and the sharp angles, and this version shows the Samurai beautifully.

Appreciate the "pocket shot" for a more realistic look at how it looks on the wrist - I wish more reviewers did that.

Superb review of a stunning watch. Love the Star Wars reference too lol.
what a great review! you are one of the best sir! thanks
Been trying to decide between the the 1st Save the Ocean Samurai and this Great White version. Kinda leaning Great White at the moment.
Does the k1 version of the watch have sapphire glass? I'm getting mixed descriptions in sites one says it's hardlex and the other days it's sapphire
Nice review👌 Watch looks so solid👍
I reckon it looks nicer with the black silicone strap.
Nice review and superb macro shots.
Nice into bro. Very smooth.
What strap do you have the SNZG17 on? That's a great combo.

It's a great watch, I prefer the dial on the first blue STO but this bezel insert is better

That really is a gorgeous looking watch and i generally don't like Seiko designs.
