I love this!!! I have a T handle system that we always used here in bottom land in Arkansas ground isn’t that hard, just working T handle back and forth we washed out a 4” hole and always put down a 2” PVC pipe. We’ve washed out as far as 75’-100’ but mostly 60’-70’ always have real good drinking water.
We only have two sections of like a cycle cutter or kindbind cycle bar sections

Now that the weather is getting better.? I may be able to get some better footage. Had one of my shops cave in with the winter ice storm, so it will require my attention for several weeks

After you drill How do you keep the water bearing sands from caving back in before you can get your casing or sand screen down?

No I have not. I drilled about 15 wells with it and had a guy come by with a pocket full of cash. He took the rig home with him. I couldn’t pass the deal up

Hi Larry, great looking machine. Are you still in East Texas? Do you come back to the RGV often? I would love to lease your machine for a weekend if you are here. I just bought a small hydra drill, gonna start trying it but it would be awesome to use your better machine
I only get to the valley about twice a year..I am still living up at Onalaska texas area..will not be moving back to valley..too nice up here
Whatever makes a hole. Grout your pipe into bedrock 2 feet or more into bedrock.

Hi Larry, Curious on your pipe sections,cannot tell for sure. Have seen the threads on some of these sections are very course and deep. Not actually the 'native' pipe threads. What are these threads,,or couplers the threads called. Wanting to build my own rig...maybe. Thanks
They are made by boze brothers and are the best couplers you can buy for drill pipe connections. You can use these over and over for a long time when using pipe dope

@@cameronmarkert The last I heard they were located in texas, But you might call Lonestar Drillbits in houston and see if they have the M50 Couplings also

I sold the rig about 6 months ago and I did not have any plans. It took me a couple of weeks to build with no plans.I may be building another one

Yes I built this old dinosaur several years ago..I use to work for H & P Drilling. so I took a big rig in my mind and just made a smaller simpler one..Nothing big or fancy and fit within my budget. Appreciate the comment..
I have hit some tree roots, but the old bits I uses drill through them....doesn't slow it down much

I sold the machine about 2 years ago. Not sure, but it was one of the biggest ones I could find.. I believe it was around 52”
Thank for the reply thats all i like finishing up on mine. I used 2 3/8 tubing and machined my ends male and female threads and bought 10 joints of pipe 31 footers made 30 joints 10 ft joints. i used a Dodge TDX 4 gearbox with a 2 foot sub in for turn table with a hydraulic motor on the input shaft with a killer water swivel i designed on top of gearbox with 2" inlet from pump. if you ever need ends for pipe, water swivel i have a machine shop here in Texas between weatherford and Abilene thats all i really do is things with water drilling and small things for the locals Thanks again
What type and size pipe did you use and what type of couplings? Also the largest problem ive ran into in trying to build by own is how to hook the water to a spinning pipe
If I remember correctly, it was heavy wall 1-1/2” pipe. The drill collars were from Bose brothers. I think I ordered them from lone star drill bits. And yes the water swivel is the toughest part. I cant even explain how this one is built
You can get those swivels pretty reasonable we use them on ingot mold machines at work with hot oil running through them to heat the molds. I think we pay 650$ for them but they are all brass 2 1/2 inch
Got our Cnc machine setting up for making the drill pipe collars. Will have some ready in a couple of weeks @ txdashcovers.com
That is an impressive machine. Question, where you live do you need any permit or to be bonded to drill your own well?
I can't drill commercially .you have to have a license here in Texas..but I can drill my own well..and help my friends out when needed..I was told by other viewers that other people can lease a rig like this and do their own..not sure..????

@@LarrySbrusch I looked up the laws in Texas and the best I understand is you can drill your own well on your own property for your own consumption without a permit.
What size Hydrualic motor are you using what is the torque rating of the motor

I will try to get you information on Tuesday when I get back to where the rig is at...I can find the cylinder size pretty easy, but the swivel, was a build on the fly..get you as much as I can

I don’t remember all of the exact details. But it has a Teflon seal on top and bottom the each one is packed with graphite material under a squeezing collar. Once the weather warms up. I am thinking of making a video of the basic set up

I decided not to sell it..and I do not manufacture them.. This is just a one time project for myself and we are still using it

I only have enough drill pipe to drill 200 feet and it will drill that depth with no issue..not sure how much deeper it will go without buying or making more pipe
how'd you build the water swivel?
It was very time consuming and expensive. I couldn’t explain it in a message if I tried

@@drmoto8058 not really. You have to find a way to seal the outter casing but still have water running through the holes in the inner shaft. It’s tough

How can you tell when you hit water?
Most of the time, you will be in sand or gravel is a good indication..there should be water..In some cases you will begin to start loosing some water to the water you found in that table
Texas has public records and map that is somewhat easy to navigate to permitted water wells drilled. It’s got elevations and good water sand info as well as a log of the well.

No part three yet.i have a tricone roller bit being made to drill through granite, should be ready soon to finish the well..that will be part three
What diameter hole do you drill?
I start with a 3-7/8" bit then I open it up with a 6--7/8" Bit to be able to set the casing and screen
Larry Sbrusch would you be interested in selling this setup or know of a place in Texas that rents them? I’m close to Crockett and I’ve seen a place online that says there located in Livingston Tx that build them but I don’t think they rent them and new ones aren’t cheap!
@@sanfordburran7321 after I finish my well, I might consider selling this machine..rolling it around in my head..my second thoughts might be to keep it being that water or good water will be a bigger issue than it is ,in 5-10 more years. I use to lease it out, but I had a buyer loose 40 feet of pipe and a bit..and he never paid me

Larry Sbrusch well the water wells that are around me are 140 to 130! I have a old hand dug well that my grandpa dug that I’m pretty sure it’s 70 feet that I’ve been cleaning out that has been filled in I’ve been told it’s 96 feet deep but it never held water and I thought about just putting a 6 or 8 inch casing in it when I get it cleaned out then trying to drill it deeper but I’m not sure it may be easer to just start over!
