I feel the pain of a low producing well. 400' deep, pump is set around 350', 1.5 gallons a minute, with about 300 gallons available. Been dealing with it for over 30 years and we even have an inground pool. Had water trucked in for the initial fill-up but very mindful when adding water by doing it gradually so the well can recover. One of the biggest users of water is the wasing machine. Went with a front loader that uses about a1/3 of what a top loader needs per load. I don't mind so much the lack of flow as long as the supply is there. If that happens, fracking will be my go to solution. Which, btw, never even heard of it being done with residential wells until I saw it here.
Great camera work and editing. Appreciate all your work on these videos. Nothing else even close on TH-cam.
Your videos get better with every one you make. I feel blessed, my well is 640 feet and get 18 gallons a minute, drilled in 2003 for $4800. Neighbor across the road just had his drilled, 680 feet and 18 gallons, but $29,000.
That is ridiculous. That’s like $42 a foot. I’m a horizontal Driller for natural gas and we don’t even get $23 a foot and that includes digging holes spotting utilities whole lot more involved than drilling a whole straight down, and I bet you their workers don’t make nowhere near what I have to pay workers at
@@Drewdayz2419 I had a well drilled last year. They had to go 975' to find water. luckily they hit big. It is a flowing artesian with 68 psi at the head. I have 8 gpm flowing out of the top on its own. They had to case it down to 260'. the well cost me $64k.
I'm glad to hear Ms. Mandy is doing well. They are like our kids and mean the world. You definitely had a workout on that well. I'm curious about how much those two guides weigh. I notice you and your dad both putting your back into taking them in and out. Can only imagine doing it solo. Great job, as always.
@@CraigSnead 55lbs each
And for terminologies sake its a Run capacitor . Another great H2O video
Yea, I'm definitely no a/c expect! Regardless $42 & I fixed it!
Are there actually two capacitors in that case? If so, would one of them be a RUN and the other be a START ?
@@Wheel_Horse 👍 yep agree an/or a single dual cap 😊
@@kat2641 Did a little research, one might be the run for the compressor and the other the run for the blower motor... but I'm not an A/C guy so I don't know for sure.
@@Wheel_Horse Yes, one is for the compressor and the other is the fan. "45/5" = one 45uF capacitor for the compressor and a 5uF for the fan.
You should keep an extra start cap at home because they don't last long anymore
Glad to know she's doin well. Thank you for taking the time to make the videos.
glad and happy your fur baby is doing well
down the road they drilled 12 1000' wells for a geothermal heating and cooling system for an office building
Here in Oklahoma, we have an old well, likely drilled about 1920 to 86'. It still makes as much water as can be pulled out. I'd guess 30 gpm or better. I can't imagine the costs of 600' for .75gpm..wow.
The well we found on our back 40 was 675ft and 250 to the top of the water.
It's gonna cost us 7k to hook it up here in Southern Arizona.
Thanks for sharing, and as always, keep building.
nice well
Holy crap
In one place I lived here in south Louisiana, most of the wells were artisan wells and not over 100ft. Water was pretty good with some iron but not excessive. Some people would have the driller go to the 1200ft aquifer for supposedly better water. I could never tell the difference in water quality and their filters were just as dirty at the same change intervals.
You got an OEM Chinese Crapacitor.
Thanks for the videos and the great editing. Glad to see the pups doing so well, you really take care of them and love them and it shows! The newer AC units are working harder with higher pressures than the older units. Maybe consider adding a hard start capacitor kit to it to help it start easier. It will also help the compressor last longer. Just a suggestion.
I'm definitely not a fan of 410A
@@h2omechanic Well you're in luck then because they just banned 410A. Starting next year everything needs to be R-32 or 1234yf, both of which are flammable.
Brown wire on the cap. is almost universally fan (or indoor blower motor).
Great pups!
Hello, I stumbled upon one of your videos yesterday. And have been binge watching ever since. My wife and I are currently looking for property for a family compound location and retirement. A lot of the properties that we are finding are going to require a well done. And a couple of them have existing wells already. I'm sure somewhere in the comments or videos your location has been provided. But I have not yet found it. I know I could do a Google search of your company name and narrow it down. Hopefully you're in my area of Northern Alabama because I really like to hire you for potential work on our new property. I love the fact that your father is passing on a trade in a business and the fact that you want to carry it on. Great content great information and great camera work! Keep doing what you're doing and God bless!
Yes on the dog diet, crap in the stores is killing them.
The real mystery to me is how you keep your white t-shirt clean on a job like that. My wife doesn't buy me white shirts any more because they stay white for about two days. Great video!
@paulmaxwell8851 I buy a fresh 6 pack of white tees every 4 months lol
It didn’t draw out of the reservoir because it works off vacuum but there is a leak so no vacuum
Glad to hear Mandy is getting better 🐕🦺❤️🩹👍🏴
would love to know your thoughts on the water situation @GhostTownLiving has, The current main source of water on site is 700' down the mine shaft, Theres an old (dry) spring of some sort on the surface 2500 feet from town which is 500ft lower than town, and the original spring for the town is 3.6 miles north west at +700 ft in elevation from town.
People are constantly in his comments saying "just drill a well" despite the fact that its a barren mountain range on the edge of death valley. The only accessible place i would think you would have a CHANCE of hitting water is about 1000 feet up the road from the old dry spring, and your already drilling down 200' to get to the same level as said spring.
Also, you might be equal parts interested and horrified in the collection / pump system thats in the 700 level of the mine.
Everyone needs two caps on the shelf for backup.
Amrad turbo 200, it's a multiple value capacitor. You can stack values to match 200 different values. Great as an emergency replacement for any dual value a/c capacitor or motor run capacitor.
@@brendandenney they are great for an emergency. IMO the cost doesn't justify them for most repair situations and it's hard to markup a variable capacitor that is already twice the price of a normal one.
Hey, thanks for taking us to your house.
Amazing shot of the camera going up and down the pipe…….
If I were a younger man I would come work for you and your dad, who else would like to do that?
You have a great work ethic combined with hands on knowledge.
For you soy boys out there, this is what a real man looks like……
Nice camera work, al love that shot from above...you need to get a dron 👌🏻
@Miguelrojasibarra I have one. Takes way too much time to setup & run.
@@h2omechanic it would be nice to see your truck from above in somo of those nice woods you work... Greeting from 🇨🇱
Nice video production job today…
No fork lift 😅 good idea for drill rods
Awesome video and it's great to see Mandy doing well. Our two pups also get Fresh-Pet.
Question: Do you send the drill bit out for sharpening and how often?
Great video’s very talented thanks from Ontario Canada Rob
Chicken and rice for poorly dogs, and cats green veg if they'll eat it.
do you have any videos on filtration systems. I am a new well owner and need solid un bias information. I have really been enjoying your content. keep it up.
Been seeing reports all the new units are junk including many window units and need repaired by every second year over and over. Even worse now the birds can't make nests correctly. Didn't see that one coming! ; )
Hope you see this. I just had to replace my well pump shallow water jet. The pressure switch is preset 30 to 50. I forget the formula for the pressure tank what the air pressure should be on it. I believe it is a 30 gallon pressure tank if you’d be able to tell me that be great.
Seems like those drills just mate right up with no cross threading. Is there something about the shape of the threads that minimizes the possibility of cross threading?
Yes , their tapered .
I believe bores shouldn't be installed straight on line to homes and they should have a tank and a separate house pump. better system setup in my opinion but will cost the homeowner more in the initial startup but less in the future
My aunt and uncle did this on their property decades ago - One VERY large tank way up on the hill and the well just pumps to that slowly. House is mainly fed via gravity pressure tho I think they've since installed a boost pump and bladder tank for more pressure.
@@mwiz100 nice, yeah a tank is mainly for extra storage and good for low performing bores, so you can maximize your water collecting efficiently when you are not using water( when on line) and bladder tanks are to take the pressure drops out of the system so a pump doesn't kick in and out when there is a little water usage or leaks
Have you ever installed an in well pressure tank?
Whoa! 600? Gotta be mtns.
I noticed it looked like you put some small 30 inch section between the extra drill string you brought in what was that for?
Check valve. It allows for faster rod changes. Bc the rods store air pressure, every rod change I have to exhaust the air. So instead of 400ft of air relief, it stops it there.
Check valves , keeps all that air down hole
could he add a water holding tank like 1k gallons so the well fills the tank and the tank supplies the house?
Our water runs about 400' deep. Well companies charge about $35k to put in a well. It's a good, reliable business.
I paid $6500 for one in Louisiana that was 475’ deep
35k overcharged!!!
Well company wants to charge $58k for 550’ well!!!
$7500 for ‘342, where they charging 35k?
I paid $7800. For mine @ 642' in 2008.
Where did u get the pulleys for pulling well pump
No comment on this video but I have a question. When is a pump control box required? Haven’t seen this discussed in any of your videos. My well (50 yrs old) had one on it but it was removed. I don’t use the well often ( lawn watering only because water is muddy) but I left it powered for 2 days and now the 9 yr old pump is burned out. Could the absence of the control box be a factor? I don’t know the pump size or depth.
Pricing and having a new drilled well installed in Central Virginia to replace a 25’ bored well. How often do you dig and not find water? My biggest fear is putting the money out and not getting anything. 😬 I’m also told I’m in a gravel/sandy geological area from one company and their quote was 10k more, the other company just says I might need a screen and liner, any thoughts? Love the content!
If your heat pump is only two years old it should be under warranty. Most heat pumps have at least a 5 year warranty, our heat pump came with a 10 year warranty.
True but most are parts “ only” @ 150 per hour plus service call ? It’s cheaper to fix yourself rather than SC an labor
Can a drill bit be rebuild
i would imagen that drilling that deep might bring with it the risc of hitting a pocket of pressured gas or something like that.
If you have a well that only makes 3/4 a gallon a minute, is this a case where a storage tank of six or nine hundred gallons makes sense? Would that be cheaper than fracking?
Is there a legal or safe depth limit when drilling?
what is the deepest you will punch?
How much do y’all charge per foot? Doesn’t seem like a good flow for 605 feet. Great video!
600' deep seems crazy but if it works it works. I got a question. If you have a well that is producing rotten egg water and clogging filters up like crazy what would you do? My customer has spend 20-25 grand on water filtration equipment and barely solves the problem. I think it was a 200-300' well at least and they have tried to go deeper with the well. I know it's impossible to get an exact answer but suggestions are valuable.
@walkingfreak true sulfur is a gas, it needs a mixing tank, then a galvanized tank to allow the gas to separate, ( have that vent to the outside of the home). Then run it threw his filters.
Alot of the time though, rotten egg smells cones from the Hot water heater Anode rod (so you remove it and cut it off & reinstall the plug) that's worth a shot atleast
@@h2omechanic Yeah they removed the anode rod long ago. The mixing tank is an interesting idea though.
@@h2omechanic Could also use a powered anode (called impressed current), Corro-Protec is one brand, and not lose the tank protection of the anode. I've installed a number of them and it solves the problem.
As you have that sonar detector to hand, why didn't you run a hose for five minutes or so and watch the refill rate and do that calculation as confirmation?
@markbernier8434 there's not a pump in the well yet
Since you know what capacitor you need you should definitely order a Made in USA spare. The Chinese junk only lasts 1-2 years and the Mexican ones are only a little better.
"Titan HD" is what I usually go with and are Made in USA, though Mars also has a few but you need to really check the label as they don't have different model names for Made in USA vs Mexico.
Do you leave the drill steel in the hole over night at 400 foot ? If we did that have lost 400 foot it would of locked it up .
@michaelburns9172 we pull it up 20ft from the bottom. If a hole seems unstable or has sand, we will trip out. But our wells are rock. They Stay open
pump it out?
I have a well nearly that deep it is 588 feet deep I need to know what kind of pump you could sell me for that my well? I thought I sent you an email inquiring about this a week or so ago. What kind of drop pipe should I use? 100 ft static level 5 gallons a minute.
🐕🐶😎👍
one gallon a minute isn't much.
here's my 2 cents... only buy US made capacitors, they are more reliable than the Chinesium crap.
Regardless of price, a 600’ well producing a gallon a minute seems too low of an output to me.
'It is what it is'
Well, I reckon its better to have a bird fall on your head than a bird poopn on your head 😂 Will local drought conditions effect how much GPM you can get drilling?
Not really. Deep wells are never affected in drought conditions. Unless you have like 12 homes in a 6 acre area pulling water out of 1 small area from 12 wells.
👍✌
