I’ve been friends with, worked closely with, and admired with astonishment this very group of incredible humans for over twenty five years. I’m a sound engineer in Charleston and each of these musicians have performed in an incredible variety of musical ambitions. Each of them is at the top of their game, but I sincerely expect this apex to be a long and slow curve. I could write a book and maybe I should.
This was one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen. These guys used their ranky tanky vibes and their Gullah music to conjure up a wind during this song and when she hit those notes at the end a great wind blew on the hill and scared the bejesus out of me. It was seriously wicked, and somewhat amazing!!
trumpet channeling from the heavens....scrumptious! a voice to knock down wooden fences and crawl into your heart a gentle rhythm and tender guitar, strong in a quiet way i'm there...I'M THERE!!!
I agree with the praises below. I only learned of Ranky Tanky recently as a Board member of the Museum in the Mansion on O Street in Washington, DC Her rendition of "Enough" about Rosa Parks has made me a fan forever. Please come to the Mansion for a concert. I will fly in from Florida to hear you in person!
Are they the best group playing today? Well, they have the absolute finest singing and the best rhythm section, but rest of the group is merely superb. I wish they'd release a new album, because my CD of _good time_ is getting worn out. (Either that, or it's worn my CD player out.)
They were on tv in usa last I heard. Fround them through a friend and so it goes. This particular song brought unusual tears. Old and in harms way of covid. Though I cant sing This woman touched same cry. Will pass this on and bless them for their gift
I just love this, and every note I've ever heard y'all play. You're one of the best things to come out of Charleston in my lifetime. That gave me chills.

Love that trumpet intro...
I never heard of Ranky TAnky until I heard them on Fresh Aire . I love their sound!
me too! I heard the re-run of the interview today.
Wonderful
My son sent me their cd. I'm so glad someone is still making wonderful music like this. Fantastic.

Chilling is right......haunting. Beautifully performed. Finally music I LOVE!
I love a lot of music, but this is very special indeed. Lots of folks have done O Death, but none better.

Charlton is stellar here and I love Kevin's heartfelt/heart driven smiles around 4:38. Nothing better than great musicians building such teamwork.
This is really, really incredible...
Goosebumps. So beautiful.
Just caught their show in my small town of Carmel, IN and loved them.
lmao so I was looking into ranky tanky bc my local radio station interviewed them all and this came on the radio as I was listening to it on my laptop
I heard about this band on NPR great Sound!
Congratulations, Qiana!!! From an old Clay Aiken fan. Magnificent singing and musicianship. 🥰

Beautiful group, great sound!
I can see this getting popular in he mainstream
As covid-19 sweeps over the south, my heart weeps for the people who will be impacted the most.
I work with a few great people who know some of the members. They sound like very great humbling and amazing people
Powerful.
The whole song is simply amazing but I can’t help rewinding Quiana’s outro solo
Beautiful intro Charlton. Gotta get Quentin back on that trap set next time.

Sounds good but loses its impact when put to music. The whole point is to hear the souls plead to death and deaths responses.
