Another fantastic & inspiring video Rob and I haven't tried posting 3 long form videos per week to increase my watch time but I might try it in the new year. I will be doing topic research between now and then.
That's the #1 thing... enjoying the journey! Keep at it and you'll see growth :) To try to speed it up you can try to experiment with different types of videos and slightly different topics than what you usually do. Best of luck with it!!
Love the outdoor walks in nature! Appreciate the transparency and down to earth demeanor of your vids Rob! I made the mistake of using youtube promotions on a couple of vids and it seems to have garnered the wrong type of subs ( those who are not interested in my channel) and potentially blocking watch time/ algorithm? It's definitely a process and I really want to stay true to the vision of my channel. ( While learning and evolving along the way.) Love seeing the success of others though. Great to see people of all ages thriving, while doing what they love!
I have never used youtube promotions and I would agree that there's potential to "artificially inflate" your subscribers and views. I think the best way to do it is to grow organically... then youtube can do a better job at figuring out who your audience is :-)

Another great video. I was able to reach the watch hour limit very early with my long form video format. The subs count is a little more challenging. While I desire to have more people watch and subscribe, I found that I had to stop watching stats and focus on why I wanted to start my channel. Video editing skill development and capture nature on video was the goal. I was shocked by the stats and basically lost the traffic volume. The journey has been fun so far and I have really changed my life perspective. I have a renewed focus after 1 year with a channel. Your content is amazing! Thanks for posting.

I have my old main channel that I have abandoned off and on. I just look and it is getting views, has 1,000 watch hours. I think I will post 1 video/week on that channel, it's my creative channel where I chat, draw, paint and do woodworking. I miss it dearly. I also have my new channel where I release 3 videos/week. I think 4 videos/week is doable. I am doing the art anyways I'm just not recording it. Thanks I love the thought process and you helped me to go within and think about what I really want to do.
I've noticed that my growth for my channel is slow and steady. No big spikes good or bad. And if I do not do a weekly video my views and subs go down. I guess slow and steady will win the race....
Almost like you in my first month: 8 subs and like 4.4 hours :) . I think we must have perseverance and patience. Asome work Rob and happy weekend to everybody.
I started live streaming a month into the channel with a weekly livestream of roughly 2 hours and with that I was able to hit the 4000 hours about a month before I hit the 1000 subs. Great video Rob 🙂

I had the exact opposite experience. A few years ago I was monetized. I quit all social media a few years back. Got demonetized from lack of posting but still a decent number of views. Recently I decided to pick youtube back up. I "niched down" on my channel. Started a second channel for everything else. I lost over 100 subs. And my views started going down, down, down. I'm lucky if I get 100 views per video, which is a fraction of what I was getting. Hopefully, as I press forward, I can get those views back up.
Great content as always. I have posted videos recently on Job Loss and Retirement and managed to get nearly 400 subscribers. I keep learning a lot from you. Oh and I love your walking / talking style videos. Cheers Martin

The 333 watch hours a month is a good metric. I need to post videos more frequently because that's the only way I'll get watch hours up...my audience is so niche. And I'm feeling the pressure because I had 1 video take off in July... it will be a sad day when those expire if there aren't enough watch hours to replace them!

Thanks for sharing this video, I am a small channel and very young channel too, the 4000 hours seems like a Mt Everest and this video is helpful and encouraging, in my channel, I offer Sales Training for all businesses and other sub topics related to it, in my community I allow and strongly encourage my subscribers to share their channels and subjects to our community tab to promote their journey and there they exchange subscriptions, advice, motivations, my goal is not just myself to make it big on 2025 but also every single small channel in my community.
I can see how I'm going to have the opposite problem than what you just said is the problem for most people. I am currently about 55% of the way to monetization with my watch hours, but only have 435 subscribers.

I have never used TH-cam promotions and it sounds like it's not a great idea since it leads to not getting loyal subscribers and viewers.

I use OBS to record my screen while I record myself directly on the SD card in my camera. I then sync them in editing :-)

That is great, but I was under the impression that Subscriber numbers & watch hour numbers had to be accumulated within 12 months. I don't get it.?? Thanks for all you do!

For watch hours, yes... but not subscribers. Subscribers it's just whenever you're over 1,000 subs. For watch hours they only count the last 365 days.

Thanks for sharing this video, I am a small channel and very young channel too, the 4000 hours seems like a Mt Everest and this video is helpful and encouraging, in my channel, I offer Sales Training for all businesses and other sub topics related to it, in my community I allow and strongly encourage my subscribers to share their channels and subjects to our community tab to promote their journey and there they exchange subscriptions, advice, motivations, my goal is not just myself to make it big on 2025 but also every single small channel in my community.

I can see how I'm going to have the opposite problem than what you just said is the problem for most people. I am currently about 55% of the way to monetization with my watch hours, but only have 435 subscribers.
