It's part of Windows defender. It's purpose is to, when the device is not in use, monitor all activity.

Somehow this guide made no difference at all on my computer. I think Microsoft may have patched this solution with an update.
a lot of options I tried through different videos, none worked. Microsoft is determined to not let us have a good experience. Every passing days, my plan to switch to ubuntu is getting stronger. That is the only end to this problem.
I went back to windows 7 and will stay on it for as many years as possible. Not buying new hardware when it was fine before. Awful laggy user experience with 10.
I just REALLY wish that "Windows Defender" should not exist

MsMpEng doesnt exist inside the Windows Defender directory. Infact, it only contains 2 sub-directories and 5 .dll files :/

In your task manager, right-click on the Antimalware Service Executable and click open file location. Just copy and paste the address when you are adding the exclusion

This worked great at first but a few days later it's eating CPU again even though the exclusion is still listed. Could it be some windows update maybe getting around the exclusion?

Type the file name into the box at the bottom and hit enter. About half way through typing in the name of the file, it appeared in the drop down and allowed me to select it.
I had 35% usage with no start up apps while I was sitting on the desktop doing nothing with 16gb of ram. This brought it down to 25%. Still probably going to upgrade my ram because I like to have a lot of stuff open.

to be honest this antimalware service started to reach 100%cpu after I ran a full scan on my computer from windows defender and after it finished it went to 0 so thats my problem idk if someone has another problem or not but for me it was from the scan

I experienced high memory usage from 600 to 700 mb. It's now down to 136 mb. So obviously it helped. Thnx.

It's because your defender turned off. For same reason mine was turned off too. So i checked Regedit and deleted 32-word parameter wich is disabled my defender then i restatred PC and added this inclusion. But it worked badly coz process still using about 3-20 % of my processor

Is it really working for you all? Mine was 145 MB now it is a constant 175 MB on Win 10pro. I have tried rescheduling does not seem to work either.
Speaking of high cpu/mem. Firefox is using 2 to 3GB. Is that normal for a normal user? This pc I use doesn't have much mem, so reducing it use is preferable.
