Thank you for rescuing this car..my grandmother had a 71 and I loved the car. She raised me after my mom passed when I was 4..so it holds special memories for me. Enjoy it!!
My mom bought a 71 brand new she drove it ten yrs my brother got it he drove it 2 yrs I got it for 200 bucks from him didn't drive it much never got it legal needed too much body patch work done to pass inspection I ended up selling it for the motor which with almost 200 thousand on it ran like a clock .the smaller six cylinder it had
That's a blast from the past. My Highscool in the 1980's I went to still had those and Pintos for Driver's Ed. Some were stick shift. I had a head start. The first tractor I drove at 12 years old was about a 1940's Ford I believe a N model. I'm 55.
I'd replace outside molding with chrome and I had a cousin with that year Maverick and she had special ordered it and it had bucket seats..Id change that and wheels..It was two toned with matching hub caps.. Color was brown..
thank you for this beautiful video a real car where we see the solidity the comfort the safety I dream of having one one day a big hello from the other side of the channel of Algeria well done gentlemen
Really cool to see an old Maverick get back out on the highway now all you have to do is find an old cougar then you'll have some time capsules breakout with the billfold and fixed it up Post-it I want to see it have fun with your project later bye
My cousin used to let me drive his Maverick from CT to Boston MA when I was 15. Fond memories of that car. My parents only found out years later that I was driving at 15. Hope you clean it up and enjoy it again!
I grew up on a farm and we learned how to drive in the fields with two of these one had a inline 6 and the other had a 351m in it. Not sure if it came that way from the factory but boy it flew and we would fight over who would get it, there was 6 of us.
I'm the same age as this car. I like to think I clean up as well too. One of the fastest rides I ever went on, was in a Maverick with a 302. They don't weigh a whole lot, so pretty fast.
My grandparents neighbor had a Maverick when I was a kid but his was green. I would love to find one and build it into a daily driver just because it's different. I have always loved the "smog" cars of the 1970's being born in 72 also they were the new and "slightly used" cars we grew up with car and idk about you but my high school parking full of them. My first car was a 76 Camaro that I bought from my late 20 something neighbor who had to sell it and get a kid appropriate vehicle so he sold the Camaro to me for $750 bucks and then used that money to put a down payment on a new Chevy Celebrity. he said he sold to me so he would still get to see it and with any luck drive it again when he got the chance. Every once in a while on Saturday mornings/afternoon I would let him take it for a drive while I was worked at a local grocery store, he always picked me up work with a full tank of gas no matter how much gas it had to begin with. This Maverick would be a NICE daily driver, just get her running good, change all the fluid. fix that burn hole in the seat and throw a paint job on it and drive it like that.
Wow,if this video really only came out 2 weeks ago like it says in my feed, I think you're a couple years off in your age my friend. I also was born 1972, but I am 50. Lol great car, I wish it was mine. Keep it always and hold those memories close!

@@Videomypropertyplease Great that you're restoring it to original spec. Too many old cars are changed into something else to please short term owners.
@@Thirdgen83 It only has 40k original miles on it.... Besides what's a Restomod to you? Because by defination a resto-mod is a classic car that has been restored, but modified with modern parts and technology. A Restomod doesn;t mean a modern LS/Coyote engine with big fancy chrome wheels and a 15k paint job. You put a Sattelite radio, or a New paint job with a modern color code or new seats in a completely stock car and it's a Restomod. He could rebuild the 170 Inline 6 and throw some LED headlights and tail lights on it and guess what... it's a Restomod. Engine/drivetrain, wheels and paint have nothing to do with aren;t required for it to be a "restomod".
I had a '75 Granada which was supposed to be the replacement for the Maverick. Meh car, same crappy suspension and six cylinder engines that trace all the way back to the 1960 Falcon

Great find! I've had 23 Mavericks over the years and presently have 2 now. My favorite car to say the least...lol
My dad bought new 73 Comet, good memories, good little cars.
This brings back memories. Had a ‘73 Mercury Comet… basically the same car. Just subscribed and can’t wait to watch this come back to life.

Been looking hard for a Maverick project. You lucked into a very solid car.
Tive um, de quatro portas.

My brother my father had one man you brought some good memories, I would love to see you do something with her.
I will keep posting updates. Going back showroom original. My great grandmothers car.

What a gem
And thick molding..I loved the molding..Hope that helps you decide..😁😁
Had a '71 coupe with 302, darker blue. Had a dk blue '74 four-door sedan with the 250 six. This brought back memories.
This Maverckis a 72 or earlier as they had the 5 mph bumpers in 73 and this car does'nt have them. Really nice car. Is this the 250 six or the 302 V8?

Sweet find. And it's a blank canvas.

My grandma once had this in a dark metallic green!

These cars came with the 302 and not a 351.
Growing up my elderly neighbor had a 73 it was orange she used to wash it once a week rain, snow or shine with a bucket a rag and comet cleaner 😂
Meu sonho é ter um Maverick

Quanto custa um maverick
Qual o valor do maverick
I would've used a vacuum cleaner FIRST. Water will drive all that dirt to crevices where it wouldn't have ended, had you not hosesd it this way.
We are removing all of the parts and restoring them. But yes that would have been a great idea.
Well it be for sale
It’s been in the family since new. It’s a keeper. Thank you
