I like to think It's the secret hier of the previous white king since there's a card in game that has this effect to turn a pawn into a king and the book of rules is effectively what gave the bishops their knowledge, so a pawn owning one would get to know a lot and that's why they replace the bishop once they're out in the revenge ending

Idk much about chess but maybe the rules of chess that forbid the blacks to go first is one of the reasons why all the blacks left the black king, thus lead us into the story of the shotgun king with 3 endings 1. The black king kills the white king, who is the most powerful chessman that follow the Rules, you proved that you could defeat the whites without the need of chessmen, but the bishop with the holy book still there, thus the idea stay that even the blacks may defeated the white, the white can do the same 2. You kill the traitor bishop, who understand the rules, means that you defeat the guy who best at that idea, but the book escape and the idea still there, thus it will still be alive, waiting for the chosen to understand, follow and use it aganist the black king, because no matter if the black king could defeat the guy who stands for the righteous of the idea, if the idea still there, it still be right 3. You "kill" the book, prove that your idea, the shotgun, is more weight than the rules, thus make you and the shotgun holiness since you are the "righteous" That's all what i thought, like i said, overthinking

It would've been cool if Theocracy effect applied to the Black Bishop, it's just a king that can summon white pieces out of nowhere. Theocracy would've made it harder. I wonder if there will be any other endings, like killing the king with the secret heir alive or other conditions were met during the final boss. Would be cool.
we had suggested those endings before but got no answer from the devs, however they did say there was an update coming to the game. so we can hope and dream :)

But if the Boss King was the last one killed, he not only respawns but also brings in the Queen, Knight, Bishop and Rook bosses. As for what cards you'll need that serve as counterpart to the Red Book, either new ones will have to be proposed. Perhaps maybe a White sword card becomes a prerequisite to spawning just the Knight Boss. Or a White shield card becomes prerequisite to spawning just the Rook Boss. Maybe some already existing cards will do. For example, you need to leave 1 Queen alone in Round 12 AND have the Iron Maiden card to spawn the Queen Boss. But there's no card needed to spawn the Boss King and all the other Secret Bosses at once, or something.
Imagine another ending where you must get "the blade" card where all units gets swords and they can attack all the spaces around them and the book, then you must leave a queen alive then defeat the white king and you'll get a animation where the blade card flies towards the queen then she holds it then the book but she slices it and you begin the fight, and when you defeat her you'll get the same ending of exorcised but the last pixel picture is the shotgun king and the blade queen kneeling infront of him and the dialogue is; "As the shotgun kings plans to rule the white kingdom with fear and might, the blade queen kneels and begs for her people to be spared from tyranny, as the shotgun king falls silent and walks away and says............... He'll consider it" Secret ending: peace
Oh man I’ve never seen this game before. Tbh this looks really really cool, love the whole concept and vibe of just playing as an asshole and conquering a kingdom.
I think most people would play it for less than an hour, it would be very hard on first floors, but when white has queen (maybe more than 1) and rooks, it's easy to checkmate for a human or bot playing like in normal chess.

This is how I used to play chess when I was 11.
When I played the 1st ending with king being replaced by bishop card, I was laughing a lot, because the white king's hands were replaced with bishops.
