I believe you doing the right thing for saving up money a downpayment of a house. I let ppl know that is their money do what is best for your goal. And watching this video made me want to focus on paying off my car at the end of this year and my credit card so I can start the next year fresh and out of debt! So I can focus on saving for a house downpayment and for my future goals in life. 😁

Great video! Well done on completing your 100 Envelope Challenge! If you're not ready to get an IRA started, maybe you should consider looking into investing apps/sites like Acorns, Stash, Robinhood, or Ellevest? I'm sure there are plenty more that I haven't named as well. But you can invest small amounts each month, week, or whatever. I started really small with $5 a month and though it's not a big amount, it does add up. 🤷♀ You make your money work for you and your family. 😀

Absolutely amazing Jordan congratulations on completing the $5050 challenge! I’m working my way through that right now I revamp the binder to make it so super simple for me to fund that 100 envelope challenge in a different format! I about fell off my chair when I saw you unstuffing all of those envelopes and doing away with them, then you said you were putting it towards your 100 envelope challenge so yes to that! You do you and you rearrange those binders in the way that you want to I just did a revamping not too long ago and I married a bunch of envelopes together to stay within the categories that I need to but not have so many envelopes at the same time! Cannot wait for your next set to come out I will definitely be buying that!

I think it's good to change things up now and then. I like the idea of having the one money ahead envelope since you are already technically ahead so that would just be the amount you need for everything total... makes sense to me :) I need to make one of those envelopes to start putting a little here and there into and see where I can get us. I have very little to work with after bills so it's hard.

I was saving for Christmas and glad I had that savings because I’m not sure what has happened to my checking account but I ended up negative a couple hundred dollars but had the money saved up to cover it and prior to following several budget peeps like yourself I would have just had to deal with being negative. So thankful for finding your channel and others 😊
I'll pull from some envelopes if I need to that aren't the "right" category. In my mind, I think I see it as... in an ideal world, this is what that money would go to but if needed, it's there and I can consider it general savings at that point.
I also wanted to add, congratulations on your down payment! I was just wondering watching Earlier but had to pause. So watching on the bus ride home. I can't wait for you to get your house and have a move in day. I want to get a home and that is what I am saving for too

I have had to empty my envelopes many times due to having emergencies come up. It happens. And I've changed my categories many times.

I think it was best for you to do away with all those categories. I do think you had way too many going on. I'm glad your going to focus on the top 6 or so. With all those other categories I do think you were stretching yourself thin with what little income you had a Month. I'm very excited for you that you finished your 100 envelope challenge. I only made It half way through mine. Don't think I van finish it due to the hubby being outta work for so long. Sadly.

A question I had about getting smaller bills when you are just starting out, I am starting over now as a single parent I've done this so many times but this is where I always get stuck. My bank isn't local to me, will any bank take your big bills to trade for smaller bills? Or do you just start out putting 20s ij everything lol or maybe I could save the smaller bills as I spend, but breaking a 20 at a store just makes it easier to spend the rest.

You lost me when you implied that your children’s teacher was overpaid at $2,000 per month.
The teacher is paid like 100 or 200 a week. So 400~800 a month. I can't remember exactly how much.
I pay the teacher $100 a week for 5 hours during the week. She certainly isn’t overpaid, she deserves the world! I’ve just been contemplating on continuing with her or homeschooling alone because I’m not sure it’s an expense I can continue to afford if I want to save for a house. ❤️
