I cannot agree with more “Using windex to clean handles”. Has saved me a ton of times when selling a knife that had a greasy handle from flipping after eating a burger and fries. My only grief with windex is that it may have slightly hurt the PVD coating on my HOM specter, but since that is the only bali I can think of with a pvd coating atm, I HIGHLY recommend using windex (or generic glass cleaner brand) for balisong handles
I'm just getting into balisongs and the only tricks I know I learned from your video's and I'm currently using a $10 balisong off of Amazon and it's not great but it's the best I can afford tysm for making these videos, you inspired me to get into Balisongs so thank you
that's cool, if you are learning maybe you should try saving up some money to invest in a better balisong, you could get a good one off of amazon or if you really save up enough you could buy a low budget good flipper like the Squid Industries Mako for example.
i love your videos and you inspired me to buy my first balisong, i have been flipping for a month and have learnd a few tricks, keep up the good work and thanks for the inspiration
I just bought the Maintenance kit using ur code. Thx for the vid Will it really helped since I’m just getting into the hobby and I didn’t know how to take care of my triton:)
I keep a 3cc 26g hypodermic needle filmed with blue loctite. It's a real loctite game changer frfr You just have to make sure after you use it every time you pull back until it's definitely got the needle cleared or else it'll plug up
Greetings Will, Great video production as usual. You have a great personality for this and I love watching. I feel like you may have gotten a few things unnecessary in this that I wanted to point out from someone who tunes knives for pay. if you have to adjust your screws every time you flip unless u use loctit I’m guessing your bushings are not good. Also I would say you’re giving a bit of half information in Miss truth when it comes to fitting ““ washers because if it’s a bushing knife odds are it’s the bushings not the washers, The physics of how a knife works unless it’s a channel balisong washers really don’t affect how it is tuned all that much you hear people say that all the time when they sell their knives because they want to make it easy for someone who is looking to buy it to fix the tolerance issues but when I get knives in it’s almost never just the washers that need to be replaced. This is coming from tuning almost 100 knives. The orange Kraken trainer for example you should be able to keep that thing cranked all the way down without it exhibiting any kind of binding. Now squid isn’t known for having very great tolerances on their version one Kraken‘s so you can send it back to them and they will take care of that for you that way you won’t have to use any more Loctite on it. That means the bushings are too short by just a touch and you’re basically running only on washers that’s why you’re forced to use Loctite. I personally have never you used Loctite on any bushing Bali after I get done tuning it. it will have barely any play at all if any, and no tap with the ability to crank down on the pivots as hard as possible. So when you say that you have to adjust your pivots daily without LoctiteI feel bad for the tuning health of ur collection. Now if you have a washer Driven knife and by that I mean only washers, you have to use some kind of a Loctite but I prefer using some thing like para cord or Teflon tape because it holds justice tight and instantaneous. The nice thing about Squid And BRS is they use the same inner and outer diameter of bushings on all of their bushing driven models. So for someone who tunes knives I keep a lot of that size bushing and I just cut them down and use my bushing a lap tool to do final sizing. If you have any of those knives that you’d like tuned up feel free to hit me up otherwise for the Kraken all you need to do is mail it back to squid and they will take care of it for you for freeThe version to Kraken is much better I just got my first one a few days ago and I didn’t need to touch the bushings unlike my four other v1 krakens. Now for your audience I doubt this is going to cause any issues and you may know all this but I just wanted to let you know that you shouldn’t have to use that much Loctite I don’t even remember where mine is. Respectfully @relapse_kid_a
Dude, uhm, ...Honestly, I have owned KPL for some time now, and only JUST NOW, because of this video, I've learned that it literally stands for "Knife Pivot Lube".
Thank you with all my heart for this. I lost my tool that came with the trainer and this relieved my by 100%. Your vids are never unhelpful! :D Edit: I'm not very experienced with knives, but does the knife fall apart if you keep using it if it gets too loose?
I used The inner strands of para cord instead of lock tight. The nylon strings have enough friction inside the pivot to keep it from backing out. Burn off the extra.
That is a good trick but if you have bushings you really shouldn’t have to use any kind of Loctite that’s the whole point of bushings should be able to take them down literally as hard as you can possibly go without having your handles bind. But for any knife that only uses washers para cord is a great easy way to do it don’t have to wait a day
I finnaly got the choker fan after watching your tutorial. The best for the choker fan, I have seen. But still I wait for the mighty palm stand with my 30$ balisong
Even tho I don’t have a Bali song that has bolts or what ever. this video still helped. my Balisong sounded really rusted so I am going to get the kpl when ever I have enough money. And hopefully it doesn’t sound like a cats nails on a chock board
Great video! Will, what if I have Glidr pivots that have T10 torx screw heads on the ends of each pivot? Should I apply loctite to both ends of each pivot? Thanks for your time!
I have a question to anyone who is experienced, if I am getting a cheap ten dollar knife just to start do I need to do all of this as soon as I get it or can I not do anything until I get a better knife?
If ever get one those china Bali songs with the blade with holes and the small screws are starting to fall out put some long setting super glue in there then take a flat head and tighten it works for both sides
Ok so I just got into balisongs and this vid will help me a lot but it’s a little confusing so can you make a step by step vid on this? Plz it will help me a lot!
I'd like to vouch for iFixit kits for working on your balis as well. With as many hobbies that I have that require screwdrivers, it was a no-brainer to pick up an iFixit and hot damn that thing can breakdown a bali like nothing else.
Good stuff man, never heard of using Windex for cleaning, but I'll keep that in mind. Every Loctite tutorial I've seen, they're applying the Loctite directly to the screw instead of putting it inside the pivot, as you did - any thoughts on that? Your way sure looks easier, I ended up having to magnetize my driver and keep the screw on the tip while I applied Loctite with a toothpick, it was kind of a pain. Looking forward to your Serpent Striker review, I got one recently and I'm mostly happy with it. It's my first bearing pivot knife and it's very smooth. Thing is, I don't especially care for the material they use on the outside of the handles (carbon fiber, I think?) It feels weirdly bouncy, if that makes any sense? Like when I'm finishing an open or close, the handles momentarily strike and bounce off of each other. And for some reason I often end up pinching my thumb between them when I do closes, never had that problem with other knives. Might just be my own sloppiness. Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for the review. Peace brother
Will is the only person I've seen on TH-cam that applies the loctite correctly, at least for balisongs that use sex-bolt fasteners. A sex-bolt fastener is what is called a blind-hole assembly- air cannot escape from the bottom of the female end as it is closed off. Thread lockers should always be applied to the threads of the female portion of the blind-hole assembly. You should only ever apply threadlocker to the male screw part of the fastener when said fastener is a thru-assembly- where air can escape through the female end of the fastener because it is open allowing the air to freely travel through. I don't get why all of these other big balisong TH-cam channels (Squid Industries for example) get this wrong... A simple search of instructions from any thread lockers manufacturer will clearly state the same as I have here.
I just ordered the Halloween 2020 special trition and I cant wait to get it! Also got the maintenance kit. I also used your code at check out. Saved 14 pounds! Edit: ive now got it and its amazing. Idk if it comes locktited but it seems like it is

I suggest ditching blue loctite for red 262, it’s way higher strength and does not, I repeat, does NOT require heat to remove or clean. It’s fussy but acetone breaks it down and shouldn’t harm your bali. Unless it has like dye or something in the G10 so then maybe. I guess I’m speaking in terms of titanium or steel or aluminum handles
