  • Multiple factors, including prior experience, geography, and degree field, affect career outcomes, and Capella does not guarantee a job, promotion, salary increase, or other career growth. I am an actual Capella student compensated for appearing in this video. All thoughts and opinions are my own - My FlexPath Journey @ bit.ly/2MelsxW

    ... oh wow. When I started following you, I was pursuing my RN and I switched to my BSC in Management and then pursued my Masters in Business. I am completing my MBA in May and then I will be exploring the right program for my RN here in Chicago. Amazing. Blessings on your journey.

    For those whom aren’t in the know, she’s sort of an ambassador at Cappella University.
    Hey it’s fantastic that you’re on the Capella University MBA FlexPath track. I assume that you’re taking Healthcare courses. Now, after you take your MBA, what will be your next academic pursuit.?
    Are you aware that Americans with Bachelor degrees can enroll in several distance LL.B (Hons) programs. The LL.B is the universal law entry degree in the UK and across its former Empire (Canada too!) Students on what is called the “Graduate Entry” schemes (options) have to take between 9 to 15 courses. University of London law schools along with about several others offer these programs.
    However, because of globalization and the vast telecommunications and Internet connectivity improvements. Regulatory ‘grey areas’ have surfaced in terms of practicing law in the U.S.
    Those whom are past & present UK distance holders of LL.B (Hons) degrees (as well as current students)that successfully pass and obtain their LL.M through American law schools have one enormous caveat. The State of New York allows foreign holders of LL.Bs to sit and take the NYS Bar Exam. If you pass, then you’re a bona fide practicing lawyer.
    So, I just thought that you and the subs should know about this legal program.
    Personally, I have an MHA and another graduate degree. However, I’m thinking about going for an MBA later. Now, I’m preparing to embark upon my MLS(Library Science) at SUNY at UBuffalo. Next, I’ll embark upon my LL.B (Hons) at Queen Mary Law School, University of London.
    Perhaps, later just for general purposes for career enhancement, I’ll go for a BSN.
    It’s good watching another “hard charger” like myself being bold and doing their thing.

    HELLO! I am inspired and impressed by you Nurse Nacole. I am at a crossroad in my career, were I have considered leaving nursing completely. I would luv to know if you Nacole, or if there are any Canadian nurses, more specifically Ontario licensed nurses who have attended Capella have any accreditation issues with the Ontario nursing Board?

    • @NurseNacole
      @NurseNacole  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't had accrediting issues and all my employers know of Capella and are kinda excited about me getting my MBA. Here is a link from Capella that might help you out - www.capella.edu/blogs/cublog/what-is-accreditation/

    Hi Nurse Nacole, does having an MSN as a bedside nurse still serve an advantage in career opportunities, pay, and flexibility ?

    • @NurseNacole
      @NurseNacole  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want to change roles (educator, NP) then yes. If you want to remain at bedside, not in my current state (Florida). It will provide you with more opportunities though for sure : )

    I would love a sit down video like this with information about your MSN program. I think I remember you said you were going for your DNP and was going for ACAGNP & FNP.

    • @NurseNacole
      @NurseNacole  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I took a dual role program for both AGACNP & FNP. I'll be taking my FNP boards in a month. I LOVED the program. I'll be pursuing my DNP in a month or two. Trying to find a job first, haha. I attend the University of South Alabama.

    • @NurseNacole
      @NurseNacole  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can go as slow or as fast as you want with the FlexPath option. I completed one class in about a month. My goal is to finish my MBA in a year's time.

    Can you explain the difference between an MBA and an MSN in leadership and administration?

    • @NurseNacole
      @NurseNacole  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My MSN program provided a course in leadership (none in administration), it was focused on nursing in particular. As an NP student, I had preceptors in leadership roles. But the skill set needed were business-focused, nursing had nothing to do with the type of things/people they were managing. So, the skills during my MSN course weren't very helpful. I didn't learn about cost-benefit analysis or VUCA. My preceptors were managing business and staff and that level of business wasn't something I was educated on in my MSN. So I decided to pursue my MBA. It's a few courses and I'm learning so much. It a personal choice. I want the proper skills to lead a group and manage a clinic in the future, I feel this is the way to get there : )
