Why does this sound a million times better than anything live today?
Merci à André Francis, le présentateur, qui présenta et enregistra des milliers de concerts de Jazz en France pendant plus de 60 ans.
I've been listening and studying jazz for almost 30 years and I never knew these musicians got together like this! It's amazing and you can tell its partially influenced by what Miles was doing at the same time. Tony just came from that group so fitting that he's doing this. And having Stanley Clarke on bass?!? Wow! Thank you so much for posting this!!
Listen and study is good for my creative
Tony and Art together....trading solos....once in a lifetime!!
I saw exactly this line-up in Munich in August 1972. This video is an awesome discovery for me, it reminds me of an amazing concert long time ago.
Holy shit, Steig, Clarke, Williams and Blakey together! 20 sur 20!
This is my soundtrack, right here.

Thank you for uploading this totally New performance, live at that with this line-up. Seen blakey live few times but never this combination. Makes me feel alive in 2021.
A l'époque 2 où 3 chaînes, ça laisse rêveur sur la qualité de la programmation, ont regrette la très décrié ORTF. Fantastique musiciens.
c est exact,j ai le souvenir de fabuleux concerts diffusés sur l ortf
Man I knew that was Jeremy Steig at the first three notes! I spent so many hours back in the very early 70s listening to his playing with Bill Evans. I think one of the main albums was “what’s new?” They had a thing about group improvisation that really worked around that time it was excellent!
It's hilarious when he introduces Jeremy Steig. "He's out of his mind ain't he?"
I have to laugh, Stanley Clarke was looking on incredulously :-0
I read Horace Silver's book, according to Horace, jazz was one of those things were half the performers on the bandstand are totally off their heads whilst the other band members are teetotal! It's incredible how they can work together.
Merci pour ce délicieux moment ! Souvenirs émus...
